Dangote is a monopolist and has no iota of pity for the poor.

Have you also considered the cost of production?

Manufacturers get nothing from the govt as per supporting utilities.

They generate everything themselves

Dangote is not just the culprit. But he is the one being used to suffocate the average Nigerian. These are some of the men that are supposed to be wiped out from the surface of the earth and let people breathe

How many people are ready to venture into greenfield construction with the attendant interests on loans, multiple taxation, bureaucracy with registrations and affiliations, hangers-on, etc as the Dangote Group does. Compare the employee strength with that of the Federal Government, not to talk of the CSRs. Abeg let industrialists breathe.

If you want to see an industrialist perhaps Ur Google map is faulty. Just go to the East. With his monopoly and secret buying of $billions.

Did you carry out a research across the more than 180 countries in the world to have arrived at your conclusion?

If you look through the spectrum, you can draw a convincing inference to show why Nigeria, the most populous black country of the world is also the poverty capital of the world. It's not by fluke. If not wickedness, how can you be blessed by God with abundant natural resources and you're still very poor in the midst of a lot. What an irony! Such that, your citizens can no longer remain in their own country but wish to emigrate to foreign lands as a away of avoiding hunger and strife? Naturally, Emigration is normal across all regions of the world, but not in the magnitude of what is happening here. It clearly shows that things have fallen apart.

Take a look at the economic indices, with JP Morgan telling you in the face that your Currency reserve is about $3.2 Billion and government can't survive without borrowing. What a shame of a country. Do you want me to mention smaller African countries that are more or less like babies to us, that are doing very well on all fronts? Everything boils down to wickedness!! Go and check the meaning of wickedness.

Umahi they said Igbo man can "never "rule this country O!but now because you dey APC they will applaud you for what you just said, same.way obi said they shouldn't share some particular money then but all the governor's,even fashola at that particular meeting said they should share it

The reason I came to dislike umahi is because he joined APC,but would you blame.me?besides his family voted LP.

Meanwhile who was the last minister or works?please am asking for a friend.sense no go kill me😁

Cost of production varies with region.

Same way foreign rice at a time was cheaper than locally produced one

the major ingredients in production price is raw materials .we have it.we have everything else.so it should be cheaper

MrTed:
Comparative price analysis of a 50kg bag of Dangote cement in 10 African countries, using the exchange rate of 900 Naira to a dollar:

Country / Price (Naira) /Price (Dollars)

Nigeria - N4,200 / $4.67
South Africa - N3,500 / $3.89
Zimbabwe - N3,400 / $3.78
Tanzania - N3,300 / $3.67
Zambia - N3,200 / $3.56
Sierra Leone - N3,100 / $3.44
Ethiopia - N3,000 / $3.33
Senegal | N2,900 / $3.22
Cameroon | N2,800 / $3.11
Ghana - N2,700 / $3.00
Congo - N2,500 / $2.78

As you can see, the price of Dangote cement in Nigeria is the highest in Africa. It is followed by South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, and Congo.

There are a number of factors that may contribute to the difference in prices across countries. These include:

1. The cost of production, which may vary depending on the availability of raw materials and labor costs.
2. The level of import duties and taxes, which may be higher in some countries than others.
3. The strength of the local currency, which may make imports more expensive in some countries.
4. The level of competition in the local market, which may keep prices down in some countries.
5. The activities of cement cartels, which have artificially inflated the price of cement
6. The increasing cost of raw materials, such as limestone and coal.
7. The high cost of transportation and logistics
8. The government's policies, such as import duties and taxes, which have made it more expensive to import cement into the country

The high price of cement has made it difficult for many people in Nigeria to afford to build homes and other structures. This has had a negative impact on the construction industry and the economy as a whole.

I believe that the price of cement in Nigeria is too costly. The government should take steps to address the factors that have contributed to the rise in prices, such as by reducing import duties and taxes on cement. The government should also crack down on cement cartels and ensure that they are not artificially inflating prices.

In addition, the government should promote the use of alternative building materials, such as bricks and blocks, which are more affordable than cement. This will help to reduce the demand for cement and bring down prices

No infrastructure and policy to stimulate local production. That's why everyone is importing because it's cheaper to import than produce here.

If you beg them to sell below their cost price and they say no, you make them the enemy of the country. That's the political culture here.

Ideally, you shouldn't beg anyone. Instead, you go and fix those factors that make local production expensive in Nigeria. That's what leaders do.

why is dangote cement that is manufactured in Nigeria is cheaper in nearby countries, for example Togo,is Dangote not wicked to his country?

Nice one from Engr Dave Umahi. That interview with Channels TV revealed his thorough knowledge and deep experience of the construction industry. As a civil engineer and a former Governor that transformed his state infrastructure wise, I can't really see any better person as Works Minister.

My advice to him is to understudy the funding mechanisms explored by Fashola and improve upon it rather than discarding it. He will need a lot of funds that the budget will never be able to provide so he should be very creative. All the schemes around road concessions, tolling etc embarked upon by Fashola should not be jettisoned. The people are solidly behind him and we wish him the very best.
