Op instead of you to post pictures of the tree so that those who don't know how it looks will know. The tree is very gigantically tall and the fruits can only be gotten when they fall from the tree

Ogbono is not ugiri.
Uguri is edible but u can't eat ogbono.
Nd dy seed of ogbono when used in cooking soup draws a lot while uguri doesn't.
Ogbono tree grows mainly in the forest but u can see uguri tree in many homes.
I disagree with you. The name is ugiri in Imo state. The seed in inside is the ogbono. My family currently have ugiri farm (Agriculturally improved) Wild ones still exist.

If you go to Kogi State especially Idah you will see a lot of the trees. It is also in Yoruba land, nobody can lay claim to it.

You don't know what you are saying. Ugiri is ogbono, ogbono is ugiri

You can eat both. My family has it in one of our farm. It starts producing from five year if you handle it properly. The commercial type is a bit bitter, the test improves as it ages.

Good.
Very delicious delicacy when properly prepared. The killer combo is when you add dried fish to it. Fresh fish too is a combo on its own together with beef.
Seconded!

Op you dont eat ogbono fruit . you can eat ugiri friit but difnatly not ogbono fruit . once you bite ogbono friut you will drop it because its better and tirstless infacy it gum ur teeth but ugiri has friut kind of tirst . ogbono tree is different from ugiri tree. Am not sure you have seen ogbono tree because if you you have seen it you will know the diffrent between the two. Then for the seed. The seeds re not same as well . ogbono seed back has brown color as it shown on pic here but ugiri lighter like wood color at the back .

Irvingia gabonensis commonly called Bush mango

Dika nut (English)

Ogbono (Igbo)

Oro (Yoruba)

The fruit is actually Ugiri in Igbo. But the nut and its product is called Ogbono

It is not tribalism but enlightenment.
Nobody can lay claims on natural occuring things that could have germinated there by dispersion. I won't be surprised if this fruit has it origin outside africa.

Do you know the name of this fruit?

In Igbo it is called ugiri and the seed is what is used to make ogbono soup you enjoy.

You can eat the back just like apple the the seed is dried and blended for ogbono soup.

Is God not wonderful?
Ibadan omo a'joro sun!

Op you lie. You must be an indomie generation trying to measure up. Ugiri and Ogbono are completely two different species belonging to one family. U can eat Ugiri as fruit and also use the seed to make soup but it's not the same as Ogbono.

You guys lack simple decorum. I wonder if your education has any impact on the way you relate with one another. If you don't eat something, ignore or simply say you don't eat it. There's something you eat that some other people don't eat. That's how life is. You don't go about calling other people's food shit simply because you don't eat it. You may think you sound cool or special, but anyone that hears you say that would easily conclude you're not well educated.
