This trend is not new or disturbing because it the power drunk mentality of the average third world country leader does not help them to think straight even when they have reacher the elastic limit.

Imagine the monarchial tyranny many an African president is practicing now with increasing intolerance of opposition using the instruments of state(Army, police, etc). What is democratic about the criminal capture of state in Nigeria today?

The Gabones president have been morbidly sick. Paul Biya of Cameroon is in the same category but nauseatingly, they don't wants to let go of political power. Even Roberts Mugabe that was vocal against the neo-colonists and imperialists wanted his wife to succeed him in power but was roundly rejected by his then ruling party.

So the African and third world countries will continue to experience political instability, stagnated economic & democratic growth with the attendant exploitation by the World powers who cash in on these developments with diplomatic aides that often turned to be poisoned chalices.

We are waking up to realities of 1960s, 70s, 80s and early 90s. To tell our selves the truth, the kind of democracy being practised are not giving hope to the populace. grin grin grin grin grin

There are two things I would like to say here:
1. Military coup can not happen in Nigeria so take your mind off it.

2. Marry a virgin woman or else no military coup can save you from suffering in that marriage because your wh0res wife will surely fvck her ex the moment he shows up to her on Facebook or in the market and you will train another man's child thinking it's yours.

I have spoken.

Why are we so afraid of military rule when democracy has not done any better to alleviate the plight of the masses?

No implications. Stop deceiving the citizens.
You old fools and politicians caused it. You can’t conduct credible election, you can’t provide for the masses and yet you are talking about military takeover. If the military take over will bring sanity to any country then let that country adopt military regime at least we are not enjoying anything in democracy except looting and rigging

On the part of the general population, given Africa's leadership style you can expect more and more coups to happen soon. On the part of Africa political leadership, you'd be overestimating them if you think they're learning anything from the successive coups thus far. You have to understand that, to the African leader, he/she either holds on to power or the house burns right down. They never think about the alternative of good leadership. See how the AU and ECOWAS have carried themselves about the coup in Niger. They're tactfully evading the subject of good leadership and just beating the drums of war. Africa is in trouble.

Let us assume you are talking to Yorubas. I take it you are a child. Ask your grand parents. People trooped to the streets to celebrate anytime the military took over in the 80s and 90s. It usually takes them an average of 6months to start crying blood.

I can see the Igbos are now clamoring for coup just because obi lost. It is the same Yorubas that you called Agbados that usually fought the military in those days while your grandfathers in the east were hiding.

From Gani Fawehinmi to Wole Soyinka to Femi falana to Fela, to Beko Kuti to TAI SOLARIN to NADECO and many more

WHILE TINUBU WAS FIGHTING ABACHA IN EXILE, PETER OBI WAS BUSY COLLECTING JOB as TIN CAN PORTS CHAIRMAN FROM THE BRUTAL DICTATOR.

I only hope you Igbos get what you want again. Another Coup. By the time the military incarcerate your generation for speaking thrash on Twitter and Nairaland , you will beg the AGBADOS to fight for you the way your grandfathers have been relying on them to help them anytime their leaders like Ojukwu escape into Abidjan.

May Africa know peace

Most infrastructure in NIGERIA are built by the military and I don't see any military leader having up to 100 SPECIAL ASSISTANTS.

That's the beauty of military government.

MILITARY GOVERNMENT IS THE WORST FORM OF GOVERNMENT IN ANYWAY YOU LOOK AT IT.
A group of îdīots will just gather up, pick up arms and declare themselves rulers.

On the contrary, DEMOCRACY can also be a very nonsense, bias and evil kind of government, especially in a country where STUPlD, GREEDY, TRIBALISTIC AND EVIL PEOPLE ARE AT LARGE. "STUPlD" should be underlined and that's exactly what we are experiencing in Nigeria for many decades now...

In democracy, the minority groups are never favoured. A bunch of very stupìd people can just gather up, vote and make decisions and their decision will be final.

It destabilises the region., plain and simple.

Why are people so enthusiastic about the coups occurring across West Africa? These military takeovers are often worse than democratically elected presidents because they lack governing rules. Figures like Uganda's Museveni came to power through coups decades ago and show no intention of stepping down.

I suppose this enthusiasm stems from a resentment towards the West (the US and its allies). Do you think Russia and China genuinely care about the well-being of African nations? If you look at their own countries, it's evident they hold a strong aversion towards us. Their involvement seems more motivated by their disdain for the US rather than genuine concern for Africa.

Don't get me wrong; France and the US have played a detrimental role in influencing and controlling our governments and resources. However, replacing one monster with another isn't the solution. Many African countries need to fortify their institutions to ensure smooth governance regardless of the president in charge.

Change is inevitable; it's only a matter of time."

Coup is not the best solution, but nor be so we go dey dey.
Desperate Times calls for desperate measures.
The soldiers can easily take power, but they are not trained to share it and rule, so must pave the way for a transitional government.

The problem is not the coup, but the people in government.
Why can't they just do the right thing?
Can't they just copy how it is working in the West, or Europe?
Are they cursed, or just wicked?

This is African spring just like the Arab Spring, more to come. African leaders has been taken their people for granted making the people to suffer for nothing, all I pray is that this military take over should favour the continent.

Right from the military to democracy, nothing has changed.
In a military government few people in power will have strong grip on the nation's treasury and will be stealing plenty money. E.g Abacha. In a democracy plenty people plus politicians in government will be stealing plenty money.
However Military government always centralise development on the capital alone. All other states are not taken as significant.

The Gabon President's family have been ruling Gabon for over 30 years.
His father looted Gabon dry and packs all the money to Paris.
Gabon's former President Omar Bongo had 70 bank accounts, 39 apartments, 2 Ferraris, 6 Mercedes Benz cars, 3 Porsches and a Bugatti in France.

Paul Biya of Cameroon have been ruling for over 30 years and he is loved by French government because he packed all the Cameroon money to Paris, France.

The implication is Brawn will overtake brain, everyone will aspire to get to the top through the barrell.

No matter how bad democracy is, people must be allowed to choose Thier leaders, you cannot come and tell me , you will lead me because you own a gun, in this modern age what is the difference between that and a kidnapper or modern slavery.

Supporting a coupist is no different from supporting a cultist.

Alot of hopes and aspirations on democracy has been shattered, alot of people who invested and craved for democracy have been mesmerised with the current happening of how the present day democracy is being run, most especially in Africa 🌍..

This coup will be an eye 👁 opener for other African country who have been disconnected from the core value of democracy..

Alot of things is wrong, no development, voices have been cut short, alot of money is being siphoned, no progress nothing to show for it as a democratically elected government, so people are tired, they rather allow the military government to take over...
