French President Emmanuel Macron has boasted that without France’s military operations in the Sahel region, “there would probably no longer be a Mali…Burkina Faso, and I’m not sure there would still be Niger.”

Macron told the French publication Le Point while referring to the former colonial power’s interventions in the mid-2000s, Operations Serval and Barkhane.
According to NAN, French troops were moved from Mali to Niger after its military leaders cut ties with the former colonial power.

#He said the interventions were done “at the request of African states” and were “successful” as his policy is facing scrutiny in the face of losing the allyship of last remaining ally, Niger, and increasing negative sentiment from Africans.#

He went on to explain that while these operations reflect France’s #“honour” and “responsibility”#, France could no longer remain involved “when there is a coup d’état, and the priority of the new regimes is not to fight terrorism” even though this is “tragic for the states concerned”.

In the interview, Macron defended his administration’s policy in the Sahel as one of partnership rather than focusing on security.

France refuses to acknowledge coup leader General Abdurahman Tchiani’s announcement that all military deals between Niger and France are terminated, and more than a thousand French troops remain stationed at a military base there.

Same terrorism inspired by France.

We are not ignorant of the same old tactics of Divide and Rule by the West. You inspire chaos in Africa and pretend to be the face of peace while you plunder their resources from behind.

I think this is the reason why France and it’s neocolonialism needs to leave Africa

Stop encouraging illegitimacy. If the entire African nations follow suit, the continent would burn

He's right

The Rebels in Northern Mali would have divided Mali into 2 if not for the French who intervened.

But for Africans France would be speaking German today.
That young Macron is funny.
His father was not born yet when Africans saved France from Great Britain during the 7-year war ( 1756-1763). That was was viciously fought in west Africa.

1914-1918 : WW 1. Africans saved France again , this time from the Germans

1939-1945 : WW2 , The Leclerc regiment was the most daring of French troops, it was made of F Africans . Moreover there are videos of Africans fighting the Germans in the streets of Paris in August 1944.

When Paris was occupied by the Germans in 1940, the first leader who supported General De Gaulle was Governor Felix Eboue of Chad. From there De Gaulle was able to put together thousands of African troops when he traveled across west Africa.

Vietnam war: The French took troops from Africa again including fighters from Mali, Burkina, Niger.
