This is a warning to state governors who keep building vanity projects like airport and stadiums. If you state don't have the economic stamina to demand an airport please for the love of Gid, don't build it. ALL THESE AORPORTS ARE NOT ECONOMICAL VIABLE President Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Onueke in Ebonyi State. It was commissioned last month by the outgoing State Governor Engr. David Umahi at the sum of N36 billion. The Anambra Cargo Airport which cost N10 billion The Bayelsa International Airport which cost N70 billion The Ekiti cargo airport cost N20 billion and is uncompleted. The Ibom Airport cost N25 billion. The Abia Airport which cost N40 billion and is currently abandoned. And the MKO Abiola International Airport in Osun State which cost N40 billion and is uncompleted. Others are Ogun Cargo International Airport which cost N40 billion, Lafia Airport cost N40 billion (uncompleted), Wachakal Airport, Damaturu; N18 billion (uncompleted), Auchi Airport, Edo State and Dutse International Airport, Jigawa; N20 billion. 1 Like |

4 months old thread. No airport is viable anymore in Nigeria. Ask airlines, they'll tell you they are running at loss. |

At least through Akwa Ibom air port we now have Ibom air. Something the federal government can't do. Akwa Ibom state government had a vision nd worked on the vision so coming to tell us that the airport is not commercially viable won't change the fact that the project has changed so many things abt the state positively. 1 Like |

Ebubu: Why are Africans so ignorant especially Nigerians........how many airports are truly profitable even in America, that is America with highest flying public in the universe.............Airports are critical infrastructure as useful and profitable as the multiple roads that crisscross the northern parts of Nigeria..........to rural areas WHERE NOBODY drives to....................the airports are needed if the fulani MD of FAAN does not know his scope of duties he should resign! He should use the viable ones to run the other airports lagging! |

Even the so called head of FAAN does not know the all round importance of airports as critical infrastructure in development. Well I'm least surprised. #incompetence. |
