Debbieeeeeee:Thanks for responding. I am asking because from what i gathered, US embassy no longer give visas to persons seeking it specifically for the purpose of childbirth. My question is if someone get the visa for visiting and use it for childbirth. Will it not adversely impact visa renewal in the future. |

Kesspru:I gave birth in Houston, I got social in the mail in about 7 days, birth cert took 10 minutes in the office although I went in person, passport took 24 hours at the agency. Didn’t expect it to be brisk especially the social. You don’t need social to get birth cert, go to the health department you’ll get it instantly, although I got my baby’s social but I never used it for any of her applications I just told them I don’t have the baby’s ssn just yet. |

Debbieeeeeee: Please what do you mean by go to the health department? Is the city of Houston health department you are referring to. I am currently in Houston. Did you do urgent travel for the passport? Are you saying I don’t need Social security to apply for the passport? Also, I thought the hospital is the one that gives birth certificate. Pls what was your process to get the Social security number ? Pls Abeg, no vex, my questions are plenty |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Debbieeeeeee: 5:29pm On Aug 27, 2023 |
Yetyb:Vex ke Hospital requested the SSN for me and it came in the mail a week later. I went to 8000 N stadium dr early in the morning for the BC, it was a self service machine but there were two women to put people through in the case of confusion, it took about ten minutes , I paid $25(23 for bc $2 optional plastic cover) For the passport I called the agency to book an appointment since it was within two weeks of travel(go around midday not morning because it’s a federal house with other federal agencies in the building so it took about two hours to get into the building in the morning) I got the passport next day around noon. 2 Likes |

You don’t need SSN to apply for passport. It’s ok if you do not have it. Yetyb: 1 Like |

Hello So Dr Z’s bill depends on what service he is rendering to you Vaginal delivery - $2600 CS - $2800 You would’ve paid $300 to them before your arrival which would be deducted from his total cost Hospital bill, also depends on either vaginal or CS West Houston - (vaginal delivery $3600 and CS $5000) Epidural or spinal for CS - $2000 If you are having a CS and spinal fails, it could be converted to general anaesthesia which cost more Paediatrician - depending on who is on call the day of your delivery Dr C billed us $550 for baby check and circumscision. He saw baby twice before we were discharge. We also visited his practice (Sunrise Paediatrics) twice before we left the US. Each visit cost us $100 each. We also had new born blood spot test (one as an inpatient in the hospital on Day 2 of life and the second one between 2nd and 4th week of life). This is to check inborn error of metabolism and some other disorder that could be managed if detected early like cystic fibrosis and Heamoglobinopathies) We were not billed for the first one as it was part of the initial hospital bill. For the second one we paid $50 when we went to the hospital to get the blood test done. Hearing test cost $326 Eye test is included in the baby check that the paediatrician would do on your little one. An ophthalmoscope will be use to check the red flex. I hope this answers your question All the best.♥️ Omosholape80: 4 Likes |

Kesspru: Would advice u to call the social security office close to u. Type on google & call the number there & ask if the hospital truly applied for ur baby’s SSN. In my case, the hospital claimed they applied but after waiting for 3 weeks & nothing was in my mail, I called the Social security office & they said there wasn’t a case number for my baby so they didn’t apply for my baby. I called the hospital & they affirmed that they applied. Well, I had to go to the office myself to reapply & got it within 7 days. They just asked for a medical record that showed the baby’s name and dr’s signature or vaccine record or the hearing test result. So go with either of those & just out of caution, go with the birth certificate if u have it. 1 Like |

Hi everyone, I’m Fardowsa. Can anyone explain to me how the visa on arrival for babies born in the US is done when they return back to Nigeria. My aunt just had a baby and she already got the baby’s passport, she just needs the Nigerian visa. Is it advisable to travel to a Nigerian embassy over there or to do it on arrival? If so, how is the process of both? I would love a explanatory response. Thank you |

Hi all. Please has anyone applied for passport already and got an appointment with the federal passport office to walk in and apply to collect the baby’s passport same day? What what did you take along for the appointment? Also the first application has my husbands consent already, do I go to the federal appointment with a photocopy of it? Please has anyone done this process before ? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Debbieeeeeee: 12:52pm On Sep 16, 2023 |
Kesspru:Flight ticket confirmation Husbands consent( DS 3053) Passport biodata you & husband One passport photo for baby Credit card bearing your name for payment DS - 11 form Copy of birth certificate and original (they’ll return this in the jacket alongside passport when it’s ready) These were the docs I took to the agency. You should get an email confirmation from the agency confirming your appointment and the end of the email should look like this screenshot below 1 Like

Debbieeeeeee: Thank you for the response. Issue now is I have already submitted for the passport application already. So my husbands consent has been submitted with the application. It’s just that application is delaying and I have been asked to come in to get it done. I only have the photocopies of the consent. Is that acceptable? As the original is gone with the first application I did already! I was told they will transfer my application to the passport agency appointment. I hope they do so because I will be going in with just photocopies of the consent and birth certificate as the originals are with the first application submitted already. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Debbieeeeeee: 3:02pm On Sep 17, 2023 |
Kesspru:It’ll be best to put a call through to confirm but I’m sure they’ll be reasonable enough to take the copies since they have the originals. That post office mailing option for passport takes a very long time which is why I waited till it was time for us to depart and I went straight to the agency. 1 Like |

Enyinne:. By child custody you mean you have the sole custody of the child? if yes, then you do not need the child's father to sign the consent form. you can visit the US embassy Lagos website and schedule an appointment under American Citizen Services (ACS) section (the link i have pasted below) https://evisaforms.state.gov/Instructions/ACSSchedulingSystem.asp After which you will fill the application form online and print out the form with a barcode from the website below. Please make sure you use the online form and generate the barcode, hand filled form will be rejected https://pptform.state.gov/PassportWizardMain.aspx#%7B%22__s%22%3A%227Xo%2BzpcsJo9wCw%2BUUFGy%2BxDLeIBJ%2BZb3Dtg6qTSqYwnzdOlWnrF7N4ohdxdZwGnhlRt%2F%2FBUb%2BbbXi4fWBDf3qeZLV6sohUhtiy0NTzKnzhs6f%2Fe9CElQ1dq20SY%3D%22%7D On your appointment day, go to the embassy with the following documents 1. Online application form showing barcode 2. Birth certificate of your child and a photocopy 3. Passport application fee in dollars or equivalent in naira (135$) or credit card issued in the US 4. Your own passport and a photocopy of the data page 5. Pictures of your child showing age progression since last passport (Transitional photos) 6. 2 biometric Passport photos of the child Check the website below for more info https://ng.usembassy.gov/passports/important-passport-information/ |
