Diversification is key, be invested in Money Mutual fund
Fixed Income Fund
FG savings bond
T-bills
Stock Market

This way your risk is reduced but first, you need to determine your risk appetite.

First thing is to determine your risk appetite before venturing into any investment.Stock market is not for the faint hearted at all.

I know a lot about the stock market. I played it a lot then. Made some killings and made some losses. I just decided to go out of the stock market temporary. I mighy come in again to start playing it.

That is one of the good things about the stock market. One can go out and come in at convenience and it still remains relevant to achieving investment objectives of many investors at a particular time.

Up or down?
From 5% to 4%
From 8% to 7%
From 13.97% to 12.55%
undecided

Am not talking recent rates. Few months back it dropped single digit, as low as 6-7% if not mistaken (ie 360 days)

So I just lost interest and stopped following. Didn't know it had risen again to as high as 13%

I av been following NTB since 2015 & had my 1st investmt in it in 2016. Based on 2015 & this year's transitions, i observed political transition does help NTB rate rebound. My previous investmt (359 days @5%) matured 10th of last month. Since then, i av been waiting 4 d rate to go up. Now dt we saw d surging rate dipped by around 2%, do u see d rate already reached its peak compared to 2015/16 dt it rose to about 20% ? Do u see d rate recovered & goes up much higher in d coming weeks? Pls, pardon my "paragraghlessness". I typed with a small button phone

5% return seems small to me. With a period of 1 year in mind, the minimum returns anyone should be looking for should be 10%.
Depending on your risk profile, mmf or corporate bonds should give better returns. I don't know whether TB rates will increase. Ogas can help on that.

Due to my small capital, very low risk appetite, & limited financial or business exposure, i have to stick with NTB. Meanwhile, dt 5% was d rate of my last 359 days tenor dt matured last month. Rates were so low this time last yr when i did it. 91 days was 2.3% then. I was at my bank last wk. They offered 9.2% for 362 days (secondary mkt)

Sometimes investment houses have some of those arrangements that gives more returns. However, it requires more money eg like Afrinvest AAPO which was issued 4 months ago, It was about 17% which is higher than the 8 or 9% TB was issuing. The least amount required I was told is 5M. Also, the risk involved is much more because it not as regulated as TB and MMF. The major assurance sometimes is the track records and guaranty from the issuer which sometimes may not be enough.

Please to all dorm acct users/owners. Can I do a dorm acct (dollar denominated) transfer to another bank dorm acct with usd cash deposited to my dorm acct?

Yes. You can do interbank transfer.
You also can transfer outside Nigeria as I've done that a few times

I don't think that is possible these days except they have changed the rules after Buhari/Emiefele left. Transferring from a dorm account in a Nigeria bank to another dorm account will not sail. You can only withdraw and deposit it. However, can transfer abroad from your Nigerian Dorm Acct.

Very discouraging that nobody even bothered to answer someone who asked a question about treasury bills in a treasury bill thread, it is unfortunate to see questions on other topics that doesn't even belong to this thread are swiftly answered with long epistle...

Same situation that is killing our country Nigeria, leaving the main issues and tackling irrelevant issues that doesn't impact the lives of Nigerians. That's exactly why we are where we are as a nation.

@Cutedharmee, I believe the next treasury bill auction should be next week Wednesday, you can send your application before 12 noonTuesday next week.

You might be right, greater percentage here stop doing TB about 3yrs or more ago.

When we don't have express answer, must we lie or ASSUME with wrong answers to make us happy. Better left unanswered than passing wrong information. My thoughts though.

In general, folks here are doing just great, a deviation from an average Nigerian or nairalanders. They attempt all questions and that ain't bad.

You would have answered without scolding members as nobody is paid to answer questions. I only beg for answers when I ask, not my inalienable right to get answers.

Now the real problem with nigerians is the ENTITLEMENT mentality.

No Sir, I didn't really mean to scold anyone, I was just stating the facts. Even if treasury bill interest rate is at 1%, there are many folks here who will still invest..

However, asking questions about treasury bills here and with expectations of getting the right answers isn't "Entitlement Mentality" but the opposite, because people with entitlement mentality don't ask questions that would equip them to help themselves.
