Hi dear I was in exact same situation about 3months ago. So what I did was put my passport expiry date by 2months forward even though it has expired so I can do my application. Then attach a cover letter explaining why I did so and stating I’m yet to receive my new passport. I have my new brp now as the application was successful. Hope that helps. All the best in your application 13 Likes 1 Share |

I think you should have contacted them for advice and wait for an express approval before going ahead to submit the application , so as to prevent them using this expired pali to bite u in future ( windrush palaver come to mind) |

glauri222: This is wrong, you need a passport to apply. Your COS must include your passport expiration date, which have to reflect in your visa application. The question of weda they accept an expired passport is another thing altogether which I can't confirm or deny, but you need your passport details to apply. 2 Likes 1 Share |

SerendipityHere:If the form would let you pass that section, you can apply as long as inside the UK. Put your explanation at the and of the form and attach all documents to prove you have applied for the passport. Then continue with your application. You do not need passport as long as you are inside the UK. Most times you will end up using the Home office app if you are inside the UK 2 Likes |

heroshark:Not entirely true sorry to say. That’s why kids born in UK irrespective of their nationality can apply for a dependent visa with only a birth certificate. If you are inside the UK, you can get away without applying with a passport these days. That’s why a lot of Indian ppl were claiming ‘statelessness’ to get visas and ilr and citizenship. Till now. Because having a passport from your home country is not compulsory when you want to apply for leave to remain in the UK. You get away with this because you are INSIDE the UK. Also The HOME office app doesn’t even need you to come to their office for biometrics again. Just sit in the comfort of your home, take selfie and snap and upload your former BRP. Finish It wont work if you have changed any of your details for example name, date of birth, place of birth etc since the last time you went to them to do biometrics. As long as your data is same, you can use the app and do it from your home. Then whenever you get ur passport, you simply update them via the update form on the gov.uk page 12 Likes 2 Shares |
