wineconnoisseur:buy more properties since you can afford to pay rent. Increase your portfolio and down the line, you can sell one then use the money to develop any of the lands. Mistake most of us do is build a house we don't really need to avoid paying rent but we circle back to pay more money to maintain the same house. Increase your property portfolio first 7 Likes |

I have read with great concern how people are disparaging renewable energy. Sad to say they are wrong. There are people who have solar energy systems that can power an entire estate on just their property installations that cost over 50 million Naira on just one residential property. People in Nigeria. A basic solar system has 3 components: solar panels for generation, batteries for storing energy for use when the sun is down and also the wiring between the solar panels and the batteries and your home electrical circuit. An advanced system will have a lot more components, fail safes/redundancy and protection circuits. As someone else has rightly pointed out, you need to know what you plan to use so as to size the system appropriately. And you need to prepare for how many days your system can run even in bad weather (aka low sun output) If you want to do ACs, given the power draw you will need nothing less than 24 solar panels (say 670/550/575 watts x 24) Last I checked that 670watt panels goes for over 200,000.00 a piece If you want to do SLA batteries that is over 200,000 a piece and you will need at least 24 batteries. If you want to do lithium batteries, it will cost way way more. Now do the calculations, how much is that going to cost? I have not included the cost of accessories charge controllers, wiring, etc and professional installations. I have 24 hours light by the way because I have been running on solar for the last 2 years. So I speak from experience 3 Likes 1 Share |

Abudu2000: You don’t teach a grown up how to spend his money. When the shalaye is too much, I back out. I only need uninterrupted power supply. I don’t need a tutorial on hibernation of the gold fish or the divisibility of atom. I’ll rather buy a flat in a location where I can get 24/7 light than to invest 50m in a solution that can only power my house and not even my street. Olowo kan laarin otosi mewa is babanla poor man. People spend the money they don’t have to impress the people who don’t even care about them. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Even governments are back to powering streetlights and agencies with generator and gas. You’ll see states investing in small hydro power turbines to power their secretariats. The unpleasant reality that marketers won’t tell you is that renewable energy is not a replacement for fossil fuel energy because their source like sunlight and wind are intermittent and depend on weather conditions, which your N50m investment can’t alter. So it’s really not about throwing money after the problem. It’s just common sense! I’ve seen people turn UPS which is meant to serve as backup power supply to their main source of power 😂😂😂 They’re called Nigerians 2 Likes 1 Share |

Still on half baked solutions we keep applying that have continually produced a malnourished economy Case Study: Servo Stabilizer I remember when Servo Stabilizer was introduced to this platform and how many of us battling low current issue rushed it. Though, it worked for me as I was able to step up my 80 - 90V current to 240V. It was still a temporary fix. I still didn’t feel confident sending my kids out late evening because it’s always dark everywhere else apart from my house and those running generator. 6 months after I purchased the system, I approached my small community that we need to stop applying cosmetic fix to structural issues affecting all of us and proposed that we should buy a brand new 500KVa transformer to solve our low current issue. Guess what? Each homeowner paid less than N50,000 and we got the problem solved within a month. Now everyone have 240V and we are all happy. I paid over a 100k for my servo stabilizer. The worse part was that I pawned it for 15k about a year later😂😂😂 =========== Until we come together to start addressing our shared social issues and stop seeing Lagos as being better than Enugu because Lagos have more money, Nigeria won’t grow. Good morning! I remain Brabus/n3xt 4 Likes 1 Share

Abudu2000: Their system is definitely wrong and what type of a.c are they using. A 5kva solar with just 4 batteries will power even a 1.5hp inverter split unit a.c for not less than 3hrs or more during off period so now think of how many hours it will do when you have your sunlight at its peak. This four batteries powers a fridge n freezer, washing machine n is even used for 0.5hp pumping machine but u need to schedule usage Problem stems out from many factors * Grade of batteries * Wrong information from installer- telling you that a 2.5kva will perform the function of a 5kva n so on * Grade of panels too as some will have label of 350v on them n they are actually supplying less than 250 so charge time is more * wrong usage till battery gets depleted, u can imagine using your pumping machine+a.c+freezer n some non energy efficient chandeliers +water heater almost same time, no nah. The system will definitely fail. I think the installers do advise to get almost double of your load or almost one n half of it for maximum enjoyment. Good n efficient solar system is not for the weak at all and installers need to do well to advise their clients on load separation as well. Though some clients will tell THEM NO, and this often leads to overloading n quick drain on the cells. This is just My thought n experience with solar/inveter system over the years n stand to be corrected. 2 Likes |

sonnie10: About N7m with installation and this was shared between 150 houses. The solution was to find a permanent fix to low current as at that time. Right now, I’ve pen down some estates where I can get guaranteed 24/7 electricity in Lagos to get an apartment. With N30 - N35m, I can get a nice 1-bed in any of those estates and I’d never have to worry about doing calculus or using a particular type of bulb or fittings. I want to live in an environment where I won’t need to start doing Algebra because I want to sip hot coffee or take an ice cream. I just want to press the on button on my kettle without having to ask Musa if he has switch over to NEPA 😂😂😂 This is just me! We’ve built house like everyone else so no one to impress. Now is the time to enjoy life and to stop living like a micromanager 😂😂 ======== Good morning boss @somehow I no see you before o! @kingdemu , special regards to you baba!
