Mixed feelings for Ashleigh Plumptre move for me. But hearing she's earning 8× more than England.... Wow.

What a way to bow out for Oparanozie. I hope Ebi takes a cue and stop being silly with talks. My opinion though.

Some of the comments am seeing on some of the transfer pages is that she chose Money over Morals.

If you’re not among the big names and National Team Player you can barely earn $50,000 a year from the Women’s game.. except You’re in the Asisat Oshoala, Puttelas, Renard, Diani, Vivian Miedema, Alex Morgan, Rapinoe, Bronze Level that you will be earning above $200,000 to $1M annually..

In the top Divisions in France, Spain, Germany, Sweden, England and the NWSL they earn as little as $1500 monthly as minimum Salary… When you get the Saudi/China Offer it’s difficult to ignore it especially when you can get what you get a year in two months over there..!

In Spain women's Liga F players are currently on strike for first 2 games of season because of the Pay..
The players are requesting a minimum salary of €25,000 be introduced for the upcoming season, rising to €30,000 for the 2024-25 campaign…

The only advantage is if you’re a National team player that’s when you earn big like €5000 and above unlike the rest professional, but if you’re a Star in the Oshoala, Diani, Bronze, Patri, Hergeberg level you earn well enough from €20,000, €30,000 and above monthly

Saudi Arabia can easily dominate the women's game. Pay a minimum of $250k and max out at $1m. In 2 years Europe and the NWSL will have to adjust. Bold move by her.

But such move Won't happen because a significant percentage of female player are gay, and being gay in Saudi is illegal with a death penalty as maximum punishment. That's before we get into the general repression of women in every area of life too…

But again why can’t they keep their Sexual life aside and focus on the Pay, get the bag and move on to where they accept such Lifestyle..

I don't have the data, but I feel the amount of Lesbians in women's football is overstated. They are just a loud minority.

It looked like they have the highest number because they don't usually hide it, they proudly flaunt it.

I may be wrong though but their numbers are overstated

The Liga F, in response to the request of the unions themselves, took new steps towards reaching an agreement and presented a new alternative agreement for a single season with a minimum salary of €20,000 -- an increase of 25% on the current minimum salary -- with the possibility of reaching €23,000 based on commercial benefits generated by the competition…

The Players Union refused, insisting on the €25,000 as minimum annual wage..

The advantage they have right now is that the top players and the Proactive ones are into the act that’s why it seems to have overpowered the Straight ones..

The highest paid player in the WSL presently is Russo at Arsenal, Earning 500k per year.

She's part of the minority that earn relatively good money, yet it's just 500k.

In doubt any women is presently earning 1m. It's an if.

Majority are earning less than 100k, while the super majority who are just normal regular players earn way below 50k per year.

If Ashleigh had moved to a team in Europe, I doubt dhe will get up to 200k sef. I doubt it.

Liga F in Spain has a minimum wage of 16k per year. They are currently fighting to increase it to 23k per year in 3 years. look at that number 😭😭

If you're not playing in the top 3 in Spain, your wage is literally shit🤣🤣

I’ll always have a problem with this school of thought. Will morals feed her and take care of her bills? It might be harder for the men’s game but the women’s game is just not shelling out enough money to make players stay in Europe.

Behind her decision—and that of every other player moving to Saudi—all the way!

I agree that they are in the minority but the number is also significant. I follow the WNBA for instance and about 30% of the players identify as queer (this doesn't include those whose sexual preference isn't known).

Also, the disposition of Western countries to the LGBT community gives them so much voice and leverage. I really do not think football will have that high number though cause the sample size is larger (WNBA has a total of 144 max players). Had to check for some data while typing this

At least 12% identified as queer at the last women's world cup

About 40% of the Brazilian women's team identity as gay while Australia and Ireland as about 35%.

40 players are openly gay in the NWSL.

You'll realize that once you curate these numbers considering only top Europe teams and the US/Canada, you'll find the number is significant. It only reduces when you add more conservative countries like Africa and Asia.

While I understand their stance, their expression is grossly unfair. Depicting Ashleigh as immoral for making a career decision that doesn't pander to their worldview is wicked.

The crux of their argument is that women shouldn't play in a country that has subjugated women's rights for so many years. While there's some merit to that argument, how about allowing to be, those who choose to partner with such countries on their journey to making radical changes. Saudi Arabia for instance has effected radical changes to laws on women's rights the last few year. They obviously aren't there yet, but they are in their way. Do they know the impact that hving football figures like Ashleigh will do to inspire young girls over there?

I obviously have my reservations about the move, but I respect Ashleigh's agency to make decisions that are good for herself, and won't characteristic such move as immoral.

🚨 LAST HOUR OF THE STRIKE | The mediator proposes new amounts in the negotiation

💰 21,000, 22,000 and 23,000 for the next THREE seasons

📌 The unions and the F League are consulting the captains and the clubs respectively

❓ At 8pm we expect to know if there is an agreement

Who now gets the no 9 jersey?

I sincerely think the jersey no should rest for now till we get someone deserving and a lot younger for it.

Onumonu should stick to her current no, she shouldn't add the pressure that comes with the no to her game.

The likes of Macleans Chinonyerem, Anam IMO, Esther Okoronkwo are there to grab the no.9 jersey but as for me I would love a Like to like replacement for her in terms of a typical No.9 with same body frame..

But can Macleans Chinonyerem bring to the table more and what Desire Oparanozie have offered in the past, She’s the only No.9 have seen with Oparanozie attributes

You're making my point for me. We'll have to have these players audition for that role to determine who it best fits. Wasn't exactly impressed when Macleans was given a chance, not counting her out though. Esther doesn't fit that role at all, and I'm looking forward to Anam Imo getting a chance to prove herself.

Make she enjoy am. You can't also see all the brouhaha from nff and not prioritize whatever will make you less reliant on that as it causes aluta that nobody wants currently.

On Ashleigh, the only thing I'm worried about is her competitiveness and improvement. She is a starter in our national team. Will she still be able to replicate her previous performance given the low level of competitiveness in Saudi?

That’s another point though, the season there in Saudi is starting October, so many players have moved there though especially from Spain, Morocco just that they’re not known unlike Ashleigh who her Switch to Play for Nigeria also made her Popular coupled with her excellent World Cup performance…

Agreement between Liga F and the unions to call off the strike

https://ligaf.es/noticia/acuerdo-entre-liga-f-y-sindicatos-para-desconvocar-la-huelga

Statement

2023/24 season: 21,000 euros, which can be increased to 23,000 euros depending on the growth of the competition's commercial income.

 2024/25 season: 22,500 euros, which can be increased to 25,000 euros depending on the growth of the competition's commercial income.

 2025/26 season: 23,500 euros, which can be increased to 28,000 euros depending on the growth of the competition's commercial income.

This Professional League and its Clubs had always defended the need to reach a long-term agreement that would provide stability to the women's professional football project and allow gradual and sustainable growth in accordance with the development of the competition.

The commitment and repeated efforts of the Clubs during the negotiation process have contributed fundamentally to achieving the much-needed peace scenario without losing sight of the sustainability of the competition. A scenario that we hope will show the way to the rest of the institutions that are part of Spanish sport and allow the project of women's professional football to be promoted.

Finally, this Professional League would like to thank the SIMA Foundation and the mediators involved for their commitment and dedication, which have been decisive in achieving this agreement.

This list is funny. You can't really pencil down the criteria used to select some of these players. My justification for Oshoala not making the list was that Nigeria didn't go far in the World cup, but I then see Mapi Leon in the list who didn't go to the world cup at all.

Hinata Miyazawa played 46 games in a lower ranked Japanese league and only scored 4 goals on 2 seasons. Her only big moment was scoring 5 goals at the world cup.

The biggest joke of the lost was Lauren James. Can't even figure out what basis she made the list. Then you have a Linda Caicedo and Salma who obviously her good players and both had great world cup tournament, but don't have a better season than Oshoala in the same league.

Could go on and on.
