The trio are the best we hv at the moment
Yes.. Ndidi new found form.. Onyeka's energy, and Iwobi's brain.. Then our False 9 causing the overload in midfield! We are good to go

This is not as simple as you have put it.

And no you are not the only one thinking so. I have literally said Jpes isn't picking the right midfield options even from the available he has invited so far. He can tweak it better without inviting any new MF but time will tell on him.

I agree with you boss

Exactly my thoughts too.... Lets say Iwobi-Ndidi and Onyeka.. Leaving both Ndidi and Onyeka to roam as free b2b and Dms respectively. Then allow Iwobi do his thing. Then either lukman and nacho play the false 9's. Lukman and Nacho shouldn't play at same time, just to accommodate a true winger. Then our two CF's. Then we are good.
Boundary conditions are not always ideal. There should be room for uncertainties. Do we have others to fill in if things start going south??

Las las, we were not flexible enough in our last AFCON outing. I just pray we don't repeat that mistake of remaining rigid even when it is obvious to switch tactics

yea bro, my major worry is our CB positions

If we can get additional 1 or 2 decent players to compete in that position we re good to go

I no follow for pple having wet dreams of having a xavi or iniesta kinda midfielder when he don’t even hv any at the moment

To me the only midfield addition I will welcome is the inclusion of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro not for immediate impact but to be groomed for future purposes ( I think before 2026 World Cup he will be ready)

Our best midfield 4 remains

Ndidi
Iwobi
Onyeka
Onyedika

Aribo should be excused for Alhassan, Akin, Folorunsho or nwakali to be tried making the number to 5

Between Ndidi, Onyeka and Onyedika who shields better and who deserves a roaming opportunity? That is where the problem lies

I agree with you.. Aribo is too inconsistent. At least Akin should be a greenhorn/understudy to Iwobi. Then one fast intelligent CB who is also very composed! Nwakali is needed. I prefer him currently than Aribo. Aribo is now a shadow of his past self!

In our match against Egypt. Immediately Iwobi was removed, it became something else. The same against Ghana. Iwobi and Ndidi we're not available and it became Osimhen and Insha Allah. All our MF personnel should be invited to the camp. Whether in div 3 or 1. That way JPes can get up to 3 combinations to use for a tournament.

haba bro we were

Super eagles were the best entertaining team in the group stage before been knocked out by Tunisia 🇹🇳 in the second round mostly due to the red card given to iwobi

Even with 10 men the team dominated the Tunisians. Eguavoen tactical plunder also contributed to the teams failure

He ought to hv been tighter and a bit rigid knowing that in the knock out phase sometimes an all attacking tactics backfires especially when you are playing a more disciplined side that will sit back and hit on counter attacks

Normally it's Ndidi.. But i saw onyedika as a true CDM who is more comfortable shielding the back 4 and can also play forward passes via long balls. Ndidi is having fun with this new roaming role. Let's leave Ndidi to roam and flush out threat upfront! Then Onyeka should handle his b2b, he has energy to burn.

All we need in defense is just to make a pick on who plays on the right side of the CD. The left side is already cover with presence of Bassey and Jordan.

I don't trust Omeruo, neither do I trust Ekong, Ajayi and Awaziem. Akpos hasn't covered himself in glory either, but out of the options, I would start Omeruo, though I wish Adarabioyo didn't choose to be funny and unfortunate.

Omerou and Bassey will start for me.

That's my fear with his least of 4 Midfielders.. Him no dey think of injury cases or red card suspension cases... Midfielders needs to be at least 6 on his list.

I don’t know for others but ndidi remains our best CDM/shield to the back four while Onyeka’s agility, strength and tackling ability makes him our best b/b midfielder

Iwobi is our best CAM

If jpes loves passing out from the back then I prefer a press resistant player like Onyedika who is more comfortable on the ball and a better passer than Ndidi

It's not just limited to who provides a more secure defensive shield. It's also about who can receive best from defence among these 3 listed and feed the advanced players cleanly.
The ball playing aspect is as important as the shield the CDM must provide if our midfield is to fly and our attack to be utilised to the level that we expect from an attack that loaded.

Who shields better? Definitely Ndidi and Onyedika for me. They are more positionally disciplined and provide secure cover compared to Onyeka who has loads of energy but isn't exactly positionally aware. Strong in tackle and duels like Onyedika and Ndidi but won't provide stable positional shield as we expect.

Who receives better from the back in the CDM role? Definitely Onyedika. His ball playing beats Onyeka. And is currently better than Ndidi.

About who roams... who can receive better between the lines or in advanced positions? I will go with Ndidi from this list of 3 based off what he is showing under the ingenuity of Enzo Maresca at Leicester. Ndidi is very lucky to be working under this man. TheGoodJoe will tell you more.

Onyeka's only advantage over Ndidi and Onyedika is that he covers grounds better than both. His running power is also quite lethal in BTL scenarios but not adept or decent enough at receiving between the lines in advanced areas.

In conclusion...
From these 3 alone... Onyedika will sit as the shield while Ndidi will roam as he does under Enzo Maresca.

Onyeka's energy is best used from the bench.

Exactly what I stated...

Now, let's see how the midfield trio of Oyeka-Onyedika and Iwobi would look like..?

Then Ndidi to replace Onyedika, while Aribo to replace Onyeka, then Nacho to replace Iwobi..

if we can get Adarabioyo he will make a perfect combo with bassey

His is calm and good on the ball with good height and decent pace while bassey is more robust and faster

Another I like which many seem not to regard is semi ajayi

To me currently judging by what we hv he is our best RCB at the moment

Another good combo should be Toru and Ajayi/Adarabioyo but we hv to wait to see how the former performs when given a chance

Onyedika is very good and this will be evident to everyone when he moves to a bigger league. He is a better passer and ball carrier than Ndidi. Also very good in tackles

Simi dey forget him self some times.. And there is always a confusion between Simi and Bassey as seen always even in the last game, between who moves first when there is a loose ball and the opposition closing down.. I observed them making this mistake twice. A good opponent would have dealt with us by that mistake

Onyedika seems to have more energy to burn same as Alhassan. Ndidi is proving to be a good roamer lately, but I would rather have him as a box to box because I believe he would form a better shield to the defense.

I would let Onyedika close down on opposition midfielders as a CM, and allow Iwobi do his usual work. That said, I would employ a formation that would accommodate both Osimhen and Boniface because Boniface is a creative striker with his dribbles and knack to help in the upper part of the midfield.

Accommodating Boniface implies you hv to play him from the flanks or deploy a 442 formation which seem to work for the team against minnows

Onyedika also plays as a b2b midfielder but primarily a CDM. Like you said maybe he will do well in the b2b position if given a chance

I am yet to see him in that role which is the major reason I picked Onyeka who plays there for his club
