They are not his boys,
If he is that influential, why did his daughter struggle to get house of two ticket in PDP. After the first primary was tie, they had to bow to Plows before his daughter was delivered at the run off. Ibori influence is limited to his local government.. Besides he is just an urhobo man with limited tribal spread. Good luck Jonathan is an ijaw man with wider tribal spread across the entire southern Nigeria, he is an ex president. Whoever the boys listen to in the creek will always be happy to do favours to Goodwill because Goodluck can Influence favours in PDP, APC LP etc.
Wike can never turn down favours for Goodluck, Alkpabio will always listen to Goodluck, E K Clark and Co no dey see Ibori , them no go ever reject Jonathan, even Tomiko.

No only kaikai cheap druggie urhobo man go dry ask did akpeteshi question.
Jonathan is just a gentleman, even Bulgari go love do favour to him, ibori can never approach Buhari for favour for him self, not to talk for Niger delta.

Abeg. Oh stop drinking ogogoro

You don chop fis and oil kpokpogarri this evening? grin grin cool

Ibori Relegated in Delta Politics. You must have smoked Kwale weed

Ibori's influence has waned significantly, though he is making frantic efforts for a rebound.

We all saw how Okowa upstaged him to install Oborevwori as Governor after an earlier knockout in the primary election, which his protege, Edevbie, suffered.

His daughter's (Mrs Ibori-Suenu) election into the NASS was a really tough one as she almost could not make it. The election was declared inconclusive until somehow she emerged.

He is also lost the PDP state chairmanship tussle to Okowa's candidate, Esiso, as his man Atose was trounced.

Even though I am not from the Southsouth, I can emphatically say that both men did more harm than good to their region. The word influence shouldn't even be associated with any of them. They knew nothing about leadership. I have been visiting, and have lived in nearly all parts of the Southsouth for close to two decades.

While Jonathan couldn't fix the East-West Road in 6 years, or accomplish the NLNG train 7 Project or the Bonny-Bodo Bridge project, Warri-Itakpe Railway, Ogbia Regional Water project, 2nd Niger Bridge, among others; Ibori was more preoccupied with governing his native Oghara town and thieving mindlessly.

One was a gentle thief and grossly bereft, while the other was a bold and reckless thief. Ibori invested billions building a Teaching Hospital for his then yet-to-completed Western Delta University whereas the state-owned Delta State University in Abraka (maybe at its Oleh campus), which taught Medicine & Surgery didn't have a Teaching Hospital. The children hospital facility he built in Agbarho has since become a dreadful forest and a den of snakes.

Please, I don't want to talk about those two men. I no wan vex this night.

Who among the two will the people listen to on issues in the region?
Jonathan failed us
He brought this useless APC on us
Fayose told him to sack INEC chairman Jega that he is compromised and that nothing will happened

Baba was just so interested in doing the right thing.

Now look at the country
He handed it over to vultures and drug pushers to destroy

Everyday on nairaland, is propagandas and lies everyday from APC
Nobdy is interested about governance again. It's now politics and politics
Election is over but these SW people keep attacking Obi everyday as if he is the president

Two idiots, one region.

One is a Guinness Book of World Records holder. He was jailed alongside his wife, his sister-in-law, his married Mistress, and his lawyer for looting the destinies of unborn generations. The other is a local thief whose wife stole more than he did.

Every geopolitical zone in Nigeria has its own thief. A thief in south west is not more righteous than the one in north central.

This is the reality of Nigeria.

Some peopl are useless. Here is a Nigerian comparing a convicted felon to GEJ.
A drug dealer, a terrorist rulimg over them.
Not surprising seeing soldiers calling ahead to clear the road for fulani terrorists
Let me address this once and for all, being influential doesn’t necessarily mean one is an angel. For example, Adolf Hitler is one of the most influential people in the history of mankind but was he a good man?
Ibori, being a convicted felon doesn’t mean he can’t be influential. Influential simply means to be powerful.
To the topic, when it comes to influence wielded by both men, it’s an insult comparing GEJ to Ibori (being respected doesn’t mean you are influential/authoritative) GEJ may be more respected but James Ibori has more influence in that geo-political zone than GEJ.

Ibori any day and twice on Monday.

Because of GEJ gentility thats why Nigeria is currently in a mess, if Gej was rugged enough he wouldn’t have allowed Buhari or Tinubu near Aso Rock

Y'all keep getting this narrative wrong.
GEJ practically ran/escaped from the pressure of governing a failed economy that he had reduced Nigeria to. He took Nigeria way backwards compared to where Obasanjo and Yar Adua had managed to drive the economy to because he allowed a free flow of Corruption since he lacked the power and prowess to rule the country. Like IconR said, he was simply a figure head, a stooge and puppet of both his wife and the Cabal.

Him stepping down for Buhari was simply an easy route, get-out-of-jail-free card for him that helped him save face. He would have been the most hated president second only to Buhari. Those who are in the know such as Ngozi Okonjo Eweala, Lamido Sanusi etc know this.

Goodluck Jonathan is not influential here in the Niger Delta because he did nothing in d region while he was a president. Note that Iborii and a former Bayelsa governor is still in d heart of d people because of the quest for resource control by d region.

Niger Delta is just a mere expression. Jame ibori cannot go to Akwa ibom or Cross Rivers and dictate what happens there.
Godswill Akpabio cannot go to Bayelsa or Delta state to influence things there.
Jonathan maybe able to use his past position to influence things anywhere in Nigeria depending on the extent to which he can go.
