Any man who engages in anal sex with a woman has the potential of being a gay.
In fact, it is a key indicator.

I have a problem with this false narrative that gay people don’t get healthcare. I have never been to a hospital where I was asked if I was straight or gay before it was decided wether or not I get treatment. Have you?

Of course in Nigeria you wouldn't be asked - its an openly homophobic country.

Gay sex is riskier in terms of contracting HIV - so a patient needs to have an environment where they can be transparent about such things without fear or embarrassment. Also, trans people are judged the minute they walk through the door - this wont be the case in a facility like this one.

Welcome development.

There's a health clinic also like this in Abuja. I've been there before. The clinic caters for sexual minorities, LGBTQ community and People Living With Hiv/Aids (PLWHA).

Botragelad:

You're making a lot of assumptions and generalisations that are not based on facts or logic.
First of all, gays not getting healthcare is not a danger to everyone. It's a danger to gays themselves, who are discriminated against and denied access to basic human rights and services.

The same homophobic guys bashing gays here are not the ones sending HIV back home to their wives. That's a false and offensive stereotype that stigmatises both gays and HIV-positive people. HIV is not a gay disease, it can affect anyone regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Again, they're not sleeping with gays. That's another false and offensive stereotype that implies that gays are promiscuous and predatory, and that they seduce or coerce straight men into having sex with them. This is not only homophobic, but also heterosexist, as it denies the existence and validity of bisexual and other non-heteronormative identities. The reality is that most people have sex with people they are attracted to and consent to, regardless of their labels or categories.

No one wants to divert attention away from themselves. Another ridiculous and paranoid claim that suggests that they have something to hide or be ashamed of. The fact is that they don't need to divert attention away from themselves, because they already have the privilege and power of being part of the dominant and normative group in society. They don't face the same challenges or threats as gays do. They don't have to worry about being harassed, bullied, assaulted, fired, evicted, disowned, or killed because of who they love or how they identify.

Well said 😎⭐

Probably run by an NGO🇳🇬. Difference here is that its a government run facility🇿🇦. Nigerian govt in its current homophobic state wouldn't endorse this.

Reducing LGBTQI matters to just anal sex is amateurish and stupid. Does your whole life revolve around the vagina and your penis?

Grow up.

You are correct. It is an NGO but they partnered with the Institute of Human Virology (another NGO). And so far, they've been able to reach out to the average Nigerian populace, which include:

- 63,835 condoms have been shared.
- 1,264 STI treatment.
- 1,506 HIV treatment.
-3,714 ARV dispensed.
- 18,503 lubricants distributed.
- Legal representation.
- Free HIV self kit.
- Anal warts treatment using cryotherapy etc.

They're doing well so far.

That is also true. Nigeria is anti-LGBTQIA+ (only in paper) but we all know what goes behind the scenes. wink

Why would a happily married straight guy be hateful and obsessed with gays? Why are they intimidated? Ask yourselves ladies. Homophobic guys are closet gays.

Guys who are accepting of gays are comfortable in their own skin - homophobes have questions to answer. Always treat them with suspicion. It has been proven over and over again that behind closed doors they engage in homosexual activities.
Why are you Gay?

So LGBTQ+ are a special breed that need special treatment?!
What kind of equality is this? They claim they want equality, yet they impose special treatment and special recognition?!
