For those who may want to change status from within, I will suggest you do it as early as you can and if possible, please use priority request if your new class of visa has that.

I am not sure there is a number of times you can reapply for a F-1 visa. However, if it is to reschedule, I think in Nigeria, they only allow twice after which you forfeit your application fund.

Thank you so much for your response.

US does not require yellow fever card.
However, you can get one at MM Intl Airport. Too many agents will be disturbing you to patronize them for yellow fever card….
Disclaimer: I have never patronized them nor used a yellow fever card. I don't know how genuine they are.

Please how does emergency date works? Will they give someone a date themself if expedite is approved or they will let someone choose from available dates?

Good afternoon everyone,

My school resumption is January 2024, on the visa application, I was asked intended date to travel..

Can I travel 2 months before resumption or must it be a month before resumption? Because someone said I will not be allowed to travel 2 months before school resumption date with F-1 visa

Buy beta school bag in Naija.. you’ll be charged $20-30 for a school bag you should have bought in Naija 10-15k.

Get an Intl Driver’s License.. some states may accept it pending when you get your US driver’s license.

Buy beta OK jacket and boots if you’re going to a winter region. They’lll save u from doing math and $/naija calculation when you go to malls to buy things.

Per meds: buy some cold and flu meds, Robb and Aboniki inhalers.
Or scratch off all of the above … if you got like $5k-$10k as pocket money.. everybody is not broke

Port Health authority. Typically at borders.
It's a yellow fever vaccination...it's documented on a yellow colored card.
Search for Port Health authority locations

The only one I know of is at the Toll gate just before MM Intl airport.
The same tollgate links to local airport ikeja.

Walk straight to their office...right inside and ask for the vaccination. The vaccination is administered by nurses They would usually ask if you're traveling, if you're not tell them.

You can only get into the US from 30 days before your resumption date. (Regardless of When you got your visa).

Good evening,

I had my F2 Visa Interview recently and it was delayed.

This was how my conversation with the VO went:

Greetings...

VO- You are F2, you are joining your husband?

Me - Yes.

VO - What do you do?

Me - I am a researcher and I work with xxxx which is a mental health-based organisation that focuses on giving a voice to the mentally challenged...

My duties include investigating mental health cases and...

She interrupted me,

VO. How much do you earn?

Me - I earn 120k/month at ****, I also earn an additional average of 100k from freelance academic and content writing jobs.

She nodded.

VO - "That means you earn 220k in a month."

Me - Then I elaborated, "I earn 120 k per month from **** which is my full time job and I get an average of 100 k from freelance content and academic writing jobs monthly.

VO - That's why I said you get a total of 220k in a month.

Me - yes.

VO - Do you have kids yet?

Me - No, we don't.

VO - Have you ever been to any country outside Nigeria?

Me - No.

VO - How long do you plan to spend in the US?

Me - I plan to spend my 4-week work leave in the US to spend time with my husband and give him physical and emotional support. This period also coincides with the Thanksgiving break and it will afford us the opportunity to spend quality time together before I resume back to work and also before I...

She cuts in again,

VO - okay okay.

Then she paused for long and typed on the system.

VO - "I'm sorry you are not qualified and gave me the blue paper."

Please I would appreciate if anyone could help me figure out where I went wrong... And hopefully, what I should have done differently.

I think the issue is hometies. You are going to join your husband, and you guys don't have kids. I think she thinks you don't intend to return.

Hopefully others will provide more insight.

How long does your husband have left for his course? Months or more than a year

Ask him if he was asked if you were planning to join him at some point.

Then I'd say you need to show you can fend for yourself. F2 are not permitted to work in the US.
So just mentioning your salary is not enough. Speak to your savings and your ability to afford the trip
