Soludo: Obi Didn’t Allow LP To Campaign Freely In Anambra As Governor by ManirBK: 5:05pm Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has accused his predecessor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, of denying his current party the opportunity to campaign in the State when he was governor. Soludo made the accusation on Thursday while fielding questions on the Channels Television’s Politics Today programme. The Anambra governor was reacting to the allegations from LP leaders that the State government restricted the party in terms of political campaigns. “Nobody has done that. He did not even allow the Labour Party, where he is now, to freely campaign in Anambra. He denied them even the venue that they paid for,” he said. Soludo added that he had twice granted Obi the opportunity to use government properties in the State for his political campaign. https://dailypost.ng/2023/01/20/obi-didnt-allow-lp-to-campaign-freely-in-anambra-while-as-governor-soludo/ |

AustineE1: Gov. Otti Saddened Over Killing Of LP Chieftain In Abia, Orders Investigation by Metrix147: 4:02pm On Sep 15 Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has condemned the killing of a Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Mr Zakari Maduka, in the state and urged security agents to fish out his killers. He said this in a statement signed by Ferdinand Ekeoma, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, and made available to ABN TV on Friday. ABN TV reports that Maduka was killed on Tuesday night at Uturu, in the Isuikwuato Local Government Area of the state by yet-to-be-identified assailants. Otti described the beheading of Zakari as insane, barbaric and vicious. He, therefore, called on security agents to speed up action and ensure that those involved directly or indirectly were brought to justice. The governor, who expressed sadness over the killing of Zakari, said he distinguished himself during the last general election as the Labour Party Campaign Manager in Uturu. He said Zakari also played active roles as a community leader in fighting kidnapping and other crimes. Otti regretted that Zakari had his life cut short when he was supposed to reap the fruits of good governance served Abia residents by the Labour Party government. The governor promised that the government would stand by the deceased’s family and give them all the necessary support required. He restated his commitment to ensure the protection of lives and property in Abia particular and the South East in general. He said it was such desire for security that necessitated the recent launch of a joint security Taskforce codenamed “Operation Crush” in the state. Source: https://abntv.com.ng/news/gov by spinna: 1:20am On Sep 19 19th September 2023 Special Offences Courts Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court By Onozure Dania Kindly share this story: The Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja on Monday sentenced a 59-year-old artisan, Eze Chukwuma, who defiled his two daughters for nine years to double life imprisonment. Justice Abiola Soladoye who handed down the verdict held that the prosecution sufficiently proved the two counts bordering on defilement against Chukwuma. The judge stated that the testimonies of prosecution witnesses were corroborated with that of the victims. Soladoye further held that valid evidence was laced and documented, and the admission of the convict to have had canal knowledge of his two daughters during cross-examination was crucial. She noted that the defendant’s incestuous relationship with his two daughters following the death of his wife in 2008 was senseless. “The survivors told this court that their biological father had been having sex with them after their mother died during childbirth. “The oldest was nine years old at the time. The children were taken to their village, and even after telling their kinsmen about their father’s acts, nothing was done. “They returned to Lagos, and the second child reported to the school after her older sister ran away from home as she could no longer endure the assault.” 1 Like 1 Share |

AustineE1: Residents Discover Hotel Where People Die Mysteriously In Abia by Metrix147: 9:33am Residents Allege Mysterious Death Of Guests, Cases Of Missing Persons In Aba Hotel Residents of the Ogbor-Hill area of Aba, Abia State have called on the State Commissioner of Police, CP Janet Agbede, state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and other relevant authorities to launch an investigation into cases of alleged deaths and missing persons in an unnamed hotel located in the area. A resident, Chimuanya Ezenna on Friday alleged that the hotel which is strategically located around Ubani Street, Ogbor-Hill Aba has become a notorious centre for reports of deaths and missing customers with nobody arrested yet. Ezenna alleged that majority of the residents who reported the cases of alleged deaths and missing persons at the Ogbor-Hill Police Division are now afraid of going further over threat to their lives and failure of the police to arrest any suspect in connection with the cases. He said that the latest case of death at the hotel occurred on 15/04/2022 when a young lady whose identity is yet unknown was killed and her two-year-old female child stolen by her killers. According to Ezenna residents gathered from a reliable source in the hotel that her killers are two young men, whose identities are yet to be revealed by the Hotel management even though their faces were captured by the CCTV camera of the hotel. "Information available to us has it that over seven murder cases have been recorded at the said Hotel since the beginning of this year 2022 which the Director of the Hotel has covered by truncating investigation to save the Hotel's name. "At a point in time a few days ago, some youths vowed to set the Hotel ablaze if the killers of the innocent young single mother of one is not unveiled. "The Azuka Divisional Police Station is currently investigating and has released the Director of the Hotel who has not fed the Police with the necessary information of the killers of lady. "The incessant killing going on in that hotel and why Police has refused to prosecute the Hotel Management and Staff for Conspiracy and Murder is provoking and the Governor need to do something." When contacted, Abia State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed that the incident did happen and the corpse of the deceased was moved to a morgue for preservation while efforts are being intensified to unravel the people behind the dastardly act. Ogbonna said that the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is handling the matter now and if there is anyone with useful information that can help police to identify the people behind the crime, such a person should feel free to volunteer such information to the police. dre11: Unknown gunmen have allegedly killed two police officers in Enugu State, .ng learnt. The officers were killed when the hoodlums ambushed a mobile police patrol team Wednesday evening. The incident happened at about 7:30 pm along the Udi-Ozalla Road as the Operation Restore Peace Enugu team was on routine patrol. The victims were identified as Danjuma Joseph, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Inspector Abu Elamaje. The source hinted that they were rushed to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku-Ozalla for treatment but were confirmed dead by doctors on duty. Another officer, Inspector Udeme Udomeng, who sustained bullet wounds, was treated and discharged. Daily Sun quoted a source in the command saying that “MINE and other command tactical teams reinforced at the area of incident on cordon and search operation for possible arrest of suspects. Further development shall be communicated.” It is unclear whether the policemen were killed by the kidnappers who have been on rampage in different parts of the State or another set of hoodlums. A few days ago, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had described the high rate of kidnapping in the State as outrageous and unacceptable. The apex Igbo group called for an overhaul of the entire security architecture in the State. Efforts by .ng to obtain reaction from the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe was unsuccessful as he did not answer the calls. A text message sent to him has also not been replied as of the time of filing this report. This is coming barely two days after about eight security operatives were also ambushed and killed in Imo State. https://.ng/2023/09/21/gunmen-murder-asp-inspector-in-enugu-police-patrol-ambush/ 1 Like 1 Share |

Such a level of callousness from criminal elements must not be tolerated in our society and nation. I condole with the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Police Force, and the families who lost their loved ones in this violent attack. While we pray to God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss, I urge the security agencies to diligently fish out the perpetrators of this crime to face the law. As the country continues to battle heightened insecurity, I urge the general public to exercise more caution and be more security-conscious. I encourage the government to revise and step up the security strategies to ensure better security of lives and properties. In the new Nigeria that we are working towards, the government and the people shall be joined in the task of securing the nation. |
