I hope the job you are talking about is not agency. The number of people willing to do these shifts is more than the available shift itself😂 If you really want rest of mind get a job direct with the company Imagine not getting booked for shifts in two weeks, you can’t sleep well at night 😂 Just saying and wish you all the best Focus99: |

AgentXxx: Parking should be free for me at the car park as a resident. The apartment manager took my car plates and registered it when i bought the car in April. I believe this is an error because the fine is for just a day in August. I still live and park there, how come there are no other fines if my car isnt on their system. 1 Like |

Lexusgs430: They aren’t mutually exclusive. Those are some of the best communities you can find of people of similar backgrounds who are willing to help and likely have established procedures for supporting newcomers as they settle in. |

gmacnoms: Because those are some of the best communities you can find of people of similar backgrounds who are willing to help and likely have established procedures for supporting newcomers as they settle in. Obviously for someone who is of another religion their applicable communities will suffice, and for someone of no religion, they don’t have to, but it has been my experience and that of all my friends of different faiths that religious communities offer the best opportunity to find your grounding and get information and support, especially in the early days. Simple things like someone to provide driving guidance, information on where to get things, or help with viewings, that one might find difficult as a newcomer no matter how highly paid simply because you don’t have those friendly personal relationships with people around, church/mosque would always volunteer to assist based on being part of the family. 4 Likes |

Lexusgs430: So? What's the logical point here? Is it only in religious houses you find unscrupulous people? It's up to you to apply common sense and be discerning when choosing to be part of any community or associate with any individuals, whether it's in a religious setting or not, to avoid being taken advantage of. 13 Likes |

Lexusgs430: I was a victim of this in my first few months in this country, the default advise given to new immigrants is to find a Nigeria church so as to get help with job, accommodation etc I get to know a Nigerian through a family friend here when i was looking for accommodation, He gave a room in a house he was subletting, gave me a bible, helped me find a 'job' with Royal Mail,(i worked for a day and never went back) took me to their church where he is very very respected and almost everyone knows him. I was settled with him and keep going to that church even without him. when i moved in there he told me that the rent is bills inclusive(£50 a wk) which i was happy with. just 3wks in the accommodation i received a bill of £200, i called to ask him and he said i should just pay it. The job he helped me with turns out to be an arrangement with the agency whereby he will be getting £1 hourly from my pay and i was let into the warehouse through the backdoor, no training, no orientation given. After the day shift he wanted me to go back for night shift but i refused and he was pissed. We had a physical fight because of the bill and he asked me to move out immediately that night after i paid for only 3wks i lived there. That winter night i went to woolworths (now closed) to buy a bag to pack my stuff and the next day I was on the street looking for an accommodation, missed lecture that day, at the end i found nothing, i came back locked myself inside and he tried to break the door down to through me out. It was a Zimbabweans i met while looking for a house the previous day that helped me to find a place and i finally moved out. This is just the summary of the event as the fight lasted for 12days before i moved out. 5 Likes |

justwise: All very unfortunate but all very unrelated to the church in question or churches generally. Or if the man had been a 'well respected' man in a university and had given you an academic book instead of a Bible would you be citing him as an example of how you were victimised by a university? 14 Likes |

You might not really need a church or mosque if you know what you are doing. NL sef is enough for you to get the right information. Go to church to serve God genuinely. Most of my coursemates who did this church thing still didn’t achieve anything better than me. I am a child of God tho 😂 2 Likes |

Gift7428: In most cases some Churches see new immigrants as a 'referral code' ...give you some help in return for membership and financial contribution. I also have to point out here that some new immigrants also use the Church to settle down then stopped going to that Church 9 Likes |

Oh apologies that I misunderstood you, I didn’t know you meant you are resident then if that is the case appeal and send them evidence of you being resident because as a registered resident your plate number should show on the C.E.O hand held. You have a good case of you can prove you are resident but make sure to gind out if the apartment manager registered your plate number. humbleprof19: 1 Like |

justwise: Perhaps you didn't 'approach with your eyes wide open and senses on guard'. You have yourself to blame. A church is a community of people with the same/similar beliefs and practices. There is nothing wrong in advising someone to seek help in a community be it religious, professional, traditional or tribal community. Your expectations and approach is what matters. Don't lose guard because you think they are holy. Be at alert. 4 Likes |
