hi everyone, Please, I'm 46 years old, and I would like to confirm whether the Canadian embassy is looking at the age when making a decision. In other words, does age affect visa? or should I just allow my spouse to study who is much younger than me? She has an M.SC. Biochemistry, but she intends to study M.SC. nursing in Canada. I hope she will be able to get admission. I have an M.Sc. Finance working with a logistics company with a salary of almost 350K/monthly and am planning to study Supply Chain Management post-graduate certificate in Canada. I hope I stand a good chance. I'm married with kids, is it advisable to apply with my family simultaneously? or I should use them as my home tie. Though I have other assets to be used as home ties Kindly advise me. Thanking you 1 Like |

Good evening, If your study permit was refused based on insufficient funds, determine how the amount that will be sufficient enough fo your temporary stay in Canada, then make the funds available in your account and reapply asiwajumi: 1 Like |

if you are coming to thunder bay from Nigeria be aware. those stories of 'plenty jobs for international students' are lies. you will spend a minimum of $800 - $1000 a month on a room (just a room). your tuition is minimum of $8600 per semester & for Masters students you pay every semester, there are no breaks in the year. this applies to most universities in Canada. also there are barely part time jobs for students, be ready to get money from back home every month. your sim card bill is min $50 per month (lowest offer so far). you will be bombarded with excess school work, thus be aware. buy your winter jackets & boots before you arrive, its less expensive back home. Nigerian students don't forget to buy international travel adaptor in Nigeria. over here its $35, in Nigeria you can get it for $5. certain android phones don't work with their sim cards over here. as i remember more tips i will post. 12 Likes |

I think it would be challenging to convince the VO why our wife is going for MSc in Nursing if she has no related work experience. Moreover, getting admission will be an uphill task. I believe you stand a better chance, your age notwithstanding. Although your previous education is unrelated to Supply Chain Management, your current occupation is quite relevant to Supply Chain. You can apply as a family if you have sufficient funds and strong home ties. allola: 1 Like |

It seems they no longer recognized it. We were lucky to get a request to submit a commercial bank statement from the VOs for our clients who used MFB recently. They were lucky to get such a request, probably because we presented their sources of income in detail. So, you don’t want to take such a chance Mueeze: |

Insufficient funds are arguably the most common reason for study permit refusal. The best way out is to order a GCMS note to identify and address the officer's concerns. If you are sponsoring yourself, you must have the tuition fees and living expenses for the duration of your program OR show funds for one year and a reliable source for subsequent years. On the other hand, if you are using a sponsor, you can show just the cost of education for one year, regardless of the duration of your studies. However, realistically, showing just the minimum is not recommended as it does not make sense for the sponsor to spend all the funds on your education. It's possible to have sufficient funds and still get refused for insufficient funds if there are unexplainable large deposits in the account, especially towards the time of applying. Another reason could be the inability to demonstrate the relationship between you and the sponsor and, in the case of a third- party, the incentive to sponsor your education. Yes, there is a strong chance if you address the issues. In conclusion, you need to review your application, identify the issues and work on how you can address them. No one can specifically tell you the way out, as no two applications are the same. asiwajumi: 2 Likes |

MayorJoshofNewY: What if they send the money to your commercial bank with a letter to the embassy stating they moved your money to your commercial bank. That should explain the luno sump right? Cos I’m really considering using a Microfinance bank statement along with my commercial bank statement. 1 Like |

tajuowo: Yes ...all China phones made for Nigeria does not work in Canada..including infinix any type, itel or tecno they are all useless including for roaming or local call, you may carry dem only for your bank app or WhatsApp. original Samsung android phones or even original Motorola phones works here in Canada... Hair clippers bought from nigeria will be useless here...cos current in nigeria is 220-240 volts while canada is 120volts.. Uk/nigeria to canada adaptor is about 9.99 dollars in amazon.canada + shipping upto 17dollars.. 1 Like |
