Smile.....7/10 Nice horror movie. Nice jumpscares, decent storyline. But still, the search for a true horror film to scare person in 2023 continues. #AlutaContinua 2 Likes 1 Share |

Blue Beetle.......7.5/10 A truly enjoyable flick all through. Wild ride from start to finish. It had heart, hilarious and entertaining. The action scenes were premium. Great score, nice visuals and CGI. Peak suit. The director truly understood what it was to be Blue Beetle and got the character well. Nice touch with the family vibe to it. Added some sort of authenticity to it with the Latino socio-cultural makeup. Xolo Mariduena truly understood the assignment portraying a live action Blue Beetle. The dialogue between Jaime Reyes and Khaji-Da was peak!! Generic it might be at times, but it's definitely a nice family movie. The film is clearly made for fans. Anyone saying this movie is bad is just clowning. If it was released during 2014 - 2019, it would have smashed the box office and people will be singing Kumbaya. But since it's DC its way easier to hate and get away with it these days. If it was a success at the BO many won't have the balls bashing it as they did cos the reasons are watery at best. Anyone who knows Blue Beetle won't say it's DC trying to be MCU with jokes. Tell me you don't know shit about the character without telling me so in plain terms. People on Nairaland trying to be punk and macho claiming to love dark movies all of a sudden after sucking MCU's diΒ’k for years. It always annoys me when people have this built set of perception that DC is all about "dark" characters when half the stories isn't. JSYK, DC has tons of light hearted characters and stories and its pretentious or plain ignorance to assume it isn't. Read a fvvking comic book. 6 Likes 5 Shares |

DyingFetus: Lol, I don't think there's a horror film presently that's ever going to make me cry man. I've had of it before and it's surely in my watchlist. I go watch am soon make I confirm your fear. Rosemary's Baby is most likely more on depravity and gore than making me to cry. More like Mordum, Serbian Film and prolly The Human Centipede |

DyingFetus: I also have Possession lined up already. LMFAO, you think I'm some punk that gets scared watching horror films at night?? E be like say you no know me. πππ I don't watch horror films during daytime. The one horror film I watched in daytime in over 3-4 yrs was "SMILE" after watching the first 1hr at midnight. Got sleepy and continued the rest in the morning since I was itchy to get it over with and I'm hardly seeing any difference watching at night or daytime, cos I don't get scared Shi Shi. Me wey go watch horror film finish still come out alone for night around 3am back then. ππ |

Bottoms.....7.5/10 Great comedy movie from Emma Seligman. Entertaining all through. Great dynamic watching Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Senott give you joy onscreen. A little over the top at times and silly, it's pretty much a solid comedy film. 1 Like |

Falling Down (1993) Extreme Anger and Unbridled narcissism is an elixir for total carnage! With actual "really good movies" becoming a rare find these days, it has afforded me the chance to revisit classics that i might have missed over the past eras where making a bad movie was so alien. I coped this semi cult classic and maaan it was so good. The plot sees 2 linear plot lines juxtaposing each other to the finest details and running concurrently but from the get go, you'd just know these 2 plot lines are headed for an epic head on collision course/ showdown. On one hand or plot line if you will, is our main guy, William Foster played by the impeccable Michael Douglas at his absolute peak, a middle aged, out of job and out of luck American man in a white shirt and tie, with severe anger and temperament issues just waiting for the slightest nudge to lit his very short fuse, and like clockwork, this fuse is lit, and that plot line just kinda spiral out of control. Enter our 2nd plot line, At the local police station, enters our 2nd main guy Sergeant Martin Prendergast, played by Robert Duvall, also at his peak, a veteran cop, on his last day before retirement, gets pulled in, to complete one last job before he jets off into retirement haven, the Job is about a series of report coming to the police station, about a "middle aged white guy in a white shirt", seemingly wrecking havoc in town for no apperent reason...need i say more because i think by now you are probably seeing where this intriguing tale and trail is leading to. In-between these 2 plot lines exist well written intricate layers that borders on a "nagging wife" "A Junkie trying to score a fix", A fascist, A Neo-Nazi, the subtle racism of thinking all Asians are from one country and some homophobic servings. These layers properly serenade the plot lines to push a very good narrative the movie was trying to tell. Writing so good that they even twin the 2 plot lines at the beginning, infact the very first frame, but so subtle that blink and you might miss it, but if you do catch it, it properly set the tone of what was to follow. The most profund thing about the movie is that, it doesn't even fit into any genre box, it rather just had a subtle mix of drama, thriller, a little action and even comedy. Need i say that the writing was impeccable, the direction and delivery was top tier, the 2 leads where in a absolute supreme form. This is probably the best flick i have seen all month, albeit, i had really limited free time for flicks this first ember and i didn't see much, but this was definitely top draw, one of the very finest in the WB library. Highly recommended....most especially if you have anger issues π 8/10. 3 Likes 2 Shares

oyaskii: One fine example of how I find it funny some peeps saying nothing good to watch these days. There's an endless troves of classics to catch that you wouldn't be able to scratch the surface if you're not in your 50s and a cinema connoisseur for 25yrs. Classics are where the joy at presently and I'm grateful for my growth and taste in cinema this year with the experience I've tasted from vintage pics. 1 Like |
