Samopex05: The vehicle is written off, the value before the accident was £1830, but now with a salvage title, it's only worth £1409.10....... If you want to dispose the vehicle, 1830 - 1409.10 = 420.90, once salvage pack is received, you would receive the balance of £420.90......... So in essence, your insurance would only pay 1830, but you can keep the vehicle (den dash you)..... Make you dey carry your wahala go........ 😜🤣 NB : Reject this first offer and say the car is worth more...... They would ask you for proof...... You might still be able to squeeze £200+ out from your insurance company........ 1 Like 1 Share |

Good morning to everyone. Please, I would like to know how long it takes to get a decision email from UKVI after applying for a graduate visa. I know on their website it says 8 weeks, but for people who applied recently, how long did it take before you got a decision email from the UKVI. Please anyone.. Thanks |

Lexusgs430: I think the insurance company will take the vehicle if they were to pay the full 1830, correct? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by dustydee: 12:19pm On Sep 25, 2023 |
Lexusgs430:I would have thought the car is now worth £420 hence why they are offering to pay him the difference, is that assumption not correct? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Nobody: 12:24pm On Sep 25, 2023 |
dustydee: The amount the car is worth is £1830, which is what he's entitled to in full. Now that the car is written off, the wreck* (which the insurance company will own) is worth £420, so they're saying, 'if you want to keep the wreck, we'll deduct the price from your payout). So if he says they should take the wreck, they'll pay him the car's full worth, but if he wants to keep it, he'll pay them that residual sum for the wreck and so they'll only pay £1409. *Saying 'Wreck' just for clarity. In many cases written-off cars are perfectly driveable except for dents, broken lights and cosmetic issues, especially Cat N (non-structural) ones like this one. Takes some effort to get recertified as roadworthy (compulsory before driving on-road) but often well worth it. |

Thanks everyone for the input. Just to be sure that I understand: If I keep the car, they pay £1409 If I say they should take the car, they pay £1830 However according to Lexusgs430, I can get more if I am able to prove that the car is worth more than £1830. They said my friend should reply by 3pm latest tomorrow, she doesn’t want to make any mistake hence the reason I’m bringing the matter here. Thanks once again. I’m not my friend wants me to post the picture, but it’s just a few dent and a broken windscreen and side windows. The car isn’t too bad honestly. |

Samopex05: Yes. But your friend can simply ask them to clarify as well. The reason why the car is written off despite the minimal damage is because they'd have to source 'original' brand-new parts which are very expensive, while you can probably get the parts you need off someone breaking a car or from eBay or garage. |

Need advice for a friend. She got a band 3 (mental health support) job from NHS and got another one as Administrative Officer with one government department both of the same salary. Asking which offer a more progression. Don’t consider sponsorship in advice. I don’t also know what to advice, reason for posting here. |

Lexusgs430: Hehe... I remember 6-10 yrs ago when abusing Nigerian Healthcare workers was the mainstay of discourse on NL. Some folks in the UK then expected Nigerian health workers to offer free services cos the NHS was 'free'. Oddly enough, all the while we supported politicians who's allowances surpassed that of many secondary and even tertiary care centres. The tide has turned and the chicken has come home to roost. Viruses: Do private insurance..check what the plan covers. Or go to Nigeria but you'd need to have sufficient leave days if there are tests or procedures that need to be done. |

You can not do 20 hours each with 2 different companies (ie 40 hours). But you can do 20 hours cumulative for both companies each week. lightofjoy: |

Samopex05: This passage communicates the following information: 1. **Assessment Outcome**: After evaluating the damage to your vehicle, it's been determined that your vehicle is a total loss under category N. Category N is a classification of damage to a vehicle where the vehicle has not suffered any structural damage, but the cost of repair might be more than the vehicle's value. 2. **Vehicle's Value Before the Incident**: Before the incident occurred, the vehicle was worth £1,830.00. 3. **Initial Payment**: Banwell's engineers have advised that an initial payment of £1,409.10 be made. This amount is the pre-incident value minus the salvage value of the vehicle. 4. **Option to Dispose of the Vehicle**: - If you decide to let the engineers dispose of your vehicle, an additional £420.90 will be paid to you once they receive the salvage pack. - If you choose this option, you need to inform them where the vehicle is currently located so they can send Co-Part to pick it up. Co-Part will then contact you within 72 working hours to organize the collection. 5. **Option to Keep the Vehicle**: - If you choose to keep the vehicle, the initial payment of £1,409.10 will be the final amount you receive, and it will settle the claim. You are being asked to decide between these two options and let them know your decision. 3 Likes |
