Good afternoon everyone. Please I want to ask you a question. Is it actually possible to sell a stock on the NSE at a higher price than the market price if the stock is a stock that people hardly find to buy? For example, a stock like Nestle that is hard to get. Please I would love every education on this. Thanks
Care explaining how you came about the perception that NESTLE is hard to get?

Most times, you can get Nestle in the market, if you are not price-sensitive.

For any particular day, you can sell your stock on the NGX (NSE) within the price range of plus or minus 10% of the previous day's closing price IF there are willing buyer's at your offer price. (Reverse applies if buying).

On special off-market deals, you could sell at higher prices (than market price) to a buyer, but deal has to be finalized at the going price(s) on the NGX (for computing fees, etc).

Your account will be credited and you get a normal credit alert from your bank tomorrow (usually in the morning, depending on your bank). Na u know wen to 'cashout' 😁

From your narration, it's Direct Cash Settlement.

PS: If not DCS, you have to apply for withdrawal from your stockbroker early morning so they can process and credit your bank account (now depends on their internal processes).

Not really, when I sold the money landed in cash position. But where it'll land between cashing out to my bank account is nil. My question is, if it lands can I withdraw to my bank account or I'll have to wait for T +1 days after initiating withdrawal?

I know there are some illiquid stocks but most folks here complaining of a stock hard to get normally will place a bid at a price that is perhaps -10% of the previous day's closing price and think since the system accepts, then it will be a deal. It does not work that way if you place a price limit that is too low compared with what sellers are offering, you may never buy a stock no matter how liquid the stock in question could be.

I modified my post.
By tomorrow morning T+3, your money has 'settled' with your broker (I assume normal NGX-registered brokers. I don't know how fintechs operate).
Apply to withdraw and they should be able to credit your bank account tomorrow (now it's dependent on their internal processes).
T+1(if applicable) is now your broker's internal design.

That exactly is what I wanted to clarify to him. As long as a particular stock is not under technical suspension, it will always be available anytime the floor is open.
Another sentiment behind the assumption that stocks like NESTLE and maybe the likes of TOTAL, OKOMU, etc are hard to get is the stereotype that since they are of very high prices, only the super rich are allowed to have access to owning them hence according to the average Nigerian's perception, the ordinary investor is deliberately blocked off them by the rich.
I recall when I introduced a friend to the stock market in 2007 and each time he sent a mandate to his Stockbroker and the latter failed to carry it out due to scarcity occasioned by full bid for the stock, this guy would begin to propound conspiracy theories on how the cabal in Aso Rock owned most of the shares of all companies and for fear of the poor becoming rich like them, they are making sure that stocks are not available to buy. I had a very hard time trying to get him to apply his knowledge of demand and supply in Elementary Economics.

@Deadlytruth I can relate. Honestly, some people instead of seeking knowledge just conclude on the wrong premise and this is really affecting their investment pattern. Thank God for people like you and other ogas here sharing their knowledge if not it will be worse.

Trying to sell at at 10.7 and i no see buyer sef. You advice to hold?
Surprised all those commenting on OANDO were only posting to laugh those in the bus but not proferring any solution to them........What a forum!! undecided

Bros, as it is, don't sell your OANDO at loss, most of those laughing and making "I told you so" posts already benefitted from this stock and you know their next target? To use mouth to batter it so much and create fear in the mind of holders so the price could go down so low, then, the next posts you shall be seeing is " I already jumped inside the bus again, we will ride it to so and so price".

Never trust the intentions of some of the people on this forum!! Someone once mentioned that no one have the interest of another at heart here .......but I'll say, very very few still have the interest of others at heart.

As it is, OANDO is not disappearing from NGX!!
Let's even say it goes back to N6, there's a way you could go about it and come out without loss, especially if you still have spare funds.........and if you don't have spare funds, just be patient ....it may require time but there'll be a way out of it.

None of those posting knows what the next line of action will be on the stock, most of the posts are assumptions.

This is my opinion on it.

Peter, you again prove yourself to be what they've called you.

When I saw your hyping of UBA, I just laughed.......that those reading your posts would have thought you care about UBA but won't know you're praising UBA just to make the price go up so you can exit.

When it got to around 17.90/17/95 intraday yesterday and struggling to touch 18, I just said, hhmmm, Peter must have exited probably.........then the next post from you will be: How ACCESS will drag UBA down because it's shedding and all those gibberish....

Una well done o.......but it's unfortunate how you're being dishonest just for your selfish interests.

If someone without this information buys today, does that imply he will not be paid the exit price? if so, why dont they just suspend trade on this company immediately.

Thank you madam for all you do in this forum, many are posting but few are sincere, I have learnt this in my 3+yrs reading, observing and following the thread. I am very grateful for your guidance as I have followed you and some few others since 2020, May God bless you immensely.

I think they equally had oando before recomending same to you. If they are quiet at the moment it might not be a sign of backtrack.
You dont expect someone whose investment is ĝoing down to make too much noise.
They are quiet, thinking of the next move, to sell, hold or average down...
But pls try as much as possible to be the master of your portfolio. Do your due diligence before purchase and try not to blame any0one for losses all advise given are based on sincere believe. No one benefits from your loss.
No one knows the mind of this market.

This was what made me open an account with a forex broker in 2020 and it has really helped me hedge against inflation and the rapid and steady fall in the value of Naira. I only open positions in that account once in a while.

In addition to what you have said I will say this to any one new to the market *buy shares of companies you understand their business and trust the management*.

For example, I saw OANDO at #3+ but I was also aware of all the wahala going on with management behind the scenes. And so I decided against dealing with OANDO and no regrets there.

So please for your peace of mind and security of funds...buy into companies you understand and have faith in their management.

OANDO may turn out to be gold. It may delist or not delist. Only time will tell

If we blame the management of Oando company, what then do we do to those who continue to promote the company and even encourage the public to buy it? Do we sweep it under the carpet, with the excuse that the stock market is a risk market and everyone deserves what he or she gets? Where then lies Fairness? Agreed there are greedy traders who jump at every opportunity to make quick money no matter how wack it is, but there are also newbies in the market, who seek for recommendations, and would take any from anyone, presuming they would know better. Even on this platform, some were constantly promoting Oando. Surprisingly now, they are nowhere to be found. Advice to all investors is to take Recommendations only from someone who can confidently tell you to keep on buying the stock, even when the price keeps going down, because based on their analysis, it will spring back. This market is harsh enough, and for those who are extremely smart, but we can all also choose to also be Fair enough, while playing the games of this market. ✌️

Is that enough reasons to be laughing those inside?

I've said something here before, that many don't read or read past pages, they'll just go ahead with whatever they feel is okay for them, some will invest based on what they met on ground when they opened the thread.

Either we like it or not, those that are buying are still buying and will still be buying in market. Those that staked billions on it are not aliens.

I'm just not comfortable with the confusion people are causing here especially for newbies........and to say that those postings about Oando are simply after their selfish interests. Wonder what you're going to gain if they lose funds!

I was just watching how they were posting about Access too, just because Access declared 30k, now looks like heaven wants to fall

With all your shoutings of "I told you so", one would have thought the offers in Oando will reach the sky self. sad
