rinzylee: You make some good points about why the tithe is important, as long as it is not practised as a law, but as a personal sacrifice to honour God and support the work of His church. However you also mention the need for private jets and other luxuries. And let's face it, these are luxuries, but are they justifiable when many communities have so little to live on? Furthermore, how many private jets do you see landing in remote forests and villages in Nigeria and beyond, bringing medical and food supplies and the gospel? (Where would they land even?) I might be wrong, but these private jets seem to love to fly to "missions" in comfortable parts of the world, to preach to and delight the converted and collect love offerings afterwards. That's not what the tithe was for - it was to feed the orphans , widows and poor in their midst , not to buy 3 private jets that most of the Church is not able to access. I sometimes wonder if Jesus were on earth today, would He be flying everywhere by private jet, flanked by bodyguards to prevent the people from coming close, with people shouting "Man of God" from afar only because they are not significant enough for the Master to want to have a personal meeting with them 7 Likes |

dustydee: So many selahs and solid points in your comment. I especially like the bolded, because when some pastors compel paying tithe as a law, they conveniently forget that the Bible says that if you live by one law then you are no longer under grace and you have to keep all the laws. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by rinzylee(m): 2:29pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
Zahra29: I admit that a lot of excesses have been practised in the Church. I also admit that some pastors have not given believers the right perspective to missions. Trust me, when I say PJ is a tool and not luxury, I know what I am saying. Especially if the ministry is very evangelistic. Coursing across the globe is no small matter o.. I don't want to blow any man's trumpet, but I know some men who are in 1 crusade or the other every week and have had to miss some because flights were either unavailable or delayed. Away from the PJ matter, I don't also support the MAN worship. It is actually a cultural thing. We are monarchical in nature. We have taken it into any sphere of leadership, including the church. So people most times want to "adore" their leaders. With success, comes fame and prosperity and they may not have control over some kind of protocols put in place for them. Personally, I like simplicity. What would you say if people stampede a popular MOG because he wanted to be simple |

iyatrustee: Haha.....pheeew...huge sigh ... well.. God doesn't judge like man. Forget about the excesses. Just obey and try to be consistent as much as you can. I'd tell you my own experience... it wasn't easy when I moved over here. I think I missed 1 or 2 times this year, I didn't die, but I recognised I needed to sort things out with God. He has given me wisdom to manage what I earn and still remain consistent with my Tithes. My sister... just focus on God and not man. God is 70% pro mercy than Judgement. But ...... Trust me.. Tithing is a sacred ordinance, trust God for GRACE to keep on. |

@justwise, If this Tithe and Church argument was done by some other people, you would have deleted it all and said it was derailing the thread and off-topic. Please, you guys can create another thread for this and share your thoughts there. It doesn't concern our conversation here. 11 Likes |

If you can't understand simple jokes, wahala dey. The OP threw a very valid point, because Justwise would have shut down or deleted any post that starts to derail original intent of the thread, but as usual because it is a matter concerning Church and Pastors, you are very happy to let it stand. rinzylee: I'm not against tithing. It's a decision for every adult Christian to make. But then, this your statement supports a culture of non-accountability thats rampant. Even charities should be open and held to standards. It's the reason why a doctor/nurse in Nigeria can treat patients in a less appropriate manner, it's the reason why a gospel preacher can slap a child in public, its the reason why our police collect bribe in daylight, it's the reason why people have to bribe some government workers to go to work and do a job they're being paid for, its the reason why our politicians steal us dry. The reason is simple- nothing will happen. When next you defend that culture, remember it cuts across- you can't have one and avoid the other. rinzylee: All said, our pentecostal churches in Nigeria need to learn a thing or two from orthodox churches. I remember asking folks here who were keen to demand Nigerian health workers offer free health services why their mega rich pentecostal churches have keenly avoided building hospitals but focus on profitable schools and universities. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Zahra29:My sister if we talk now they will say we do not understand the the bible. Christians are not under the law but we tend to pick and choose which part of the law to project if it favours us. I am seriously unlearning a lot of things taught to us erroneously in the past. The sad part is that some of the information is in plain sight but we only see it through our tinted glasses. @rinzylee: If they do not own private jets, will the gospel not be spread? I dare say it might even spread faster. Why can't they charter for example, if they must fly one? Will God be angry if they get to their destinations a day later? Why can't those inviting them fly them there? By all means pay your tithe but know that there is a curse on those who do not uphold the law Galatians 3 10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."but let's move this topic to the appropriate section, we have derailed enough. 3 Likes |

You are in uk and you are narrowing your search to only Nigerians and to even particular regions, yes it’s your choice but if you are in need urgently then you may need to expand your scope, be more friendly and be in or go to places where you can mix up with more diverse people. Correct! Cedarcrest is good, I assisted in spine surgeries for a year before leaving Nigeria. If you don't want a Nigeria trained spine surgeon, you can request for a UK trained spine surgeon for the procedure if it's an elective surgery . Spine surgeons comes from the UK every 3 months to operate in the hospital. By the way, I go Sabi you be that rinzylee: 5 Likes 2 Shares |
