Ayo25:Please be reasonable! What is his definition of low grade workers? What is the percentage as compared to other populace? Why not address the minimum wage issue instead of this sketchy deceleration which will only be use to further embezzle funds? It is a declaration & not even authorized yet by the legislature. These guys are just heartless. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Menclothing: How do you want companies suffering from high diesel cost, high taxes, high fx rate and inflation to increase staff salary substantially. No help or concessions granted to these companies to help them deal with these issues. Inspite of high diesel cost, the government still introduced VAT o it to add to their pain. 1 Like 1 Share |

This government is the most unprepared government since democracy in 1999. The are always spontaneous about every problem. They haven't bring any workable solutions since they came to government. All the major decisions they have made have been full of error. From subsidy removal to 8k to household to 5b to state to naira devaluation to naira exchange rate. They are just trying to behave as irresponsible government. chanceux: 1 Like 1 Share |

oyebanji:The process of Minimum wage review should have been started a long time ago and would have been in the process of implementation if they were serious about helping the poor. Up until today, all we've been hearing are just rumors while people are suffering. I don't care whom anyone supports, my only concern is the level of hardship in that country. No matter how much we try to blind our eyes to that truth, it will stare right back at us. Nigerians are suffering and it is getting worse, the government should have pity on them haba! It's not too much to ask 2 Likes 1 Share |

chanceux: I support an increase in minimum wage for the average worker, however you also need to factor into consideration that any massive wage increase without economic growth would still lead to hyperinflation. It’s simple econs. Which would in turn bring us back to square one. I’d want to believe they have done the stats on how the 25k increase would affect the economy. Anyways time would tell. 1 Like |

Organized Labour definitely can't be fooled. The economy is in for a continuous nosedive. Besides, Tinubu is still battling with the issues of the legitimacy of his government and the release of his CSU documents, amongst others. I wonder if he'll survive the incoming tsunami...time will tell 2 Likes 1 Share |

Chokehold:What happens to the populace in Togo and Benin? They pay the market price of petrol What government needs to do is to create an environment for the populace to be gainfully employed Government cannot share money to everyone It is painful but things will even get much worse before they get better The starting point is at least let us increase food production to bring down food prices That is the immediate priority Even that will take At least another harvest season before we see the benefits Government is quite helpless |

Educate yourself about the law and how things work The government has the power to make a PAY AWARD in short time and that is what this is Changing the minimum wage is a more complicated process and is not likely to be resolved as quickly. It is not true to say it is not being addressed. It is complex. It involves discussion not just with the Federal government but also private sector and state government. They also need to balance it against inflation If they are fast they can get it into the budget for next year The fundamental problem is that we import too much and increasing salaries likely will weaken the Naira and increase prices defeating the exercise We must face the bitter truth We are an unproductive economy relatively speaking. We import too much and cannot pay for our imports without becoming more productive No government can fix that overnight |
