Aribo had an assist in the Sierra Leone game with a line splitting pass to Osimhen for the second goal which wasn't televised for some reason. In the creativity sense, I can see how his call up is justified.

Also Southampton refuses to play him in the CM/AM position where he performs best, instead playing him as an out-and-out attacker or RW which doesn't align with his skillset, making him look bad. I would advise he leaves soon, I think he can perform at the highest level given his talent.

It will do him a world of good if he gets a transfer to a mid table team in the EPL, or even a decent Europa league club in Seria A or Germany...I still think there's a really good footballer in him, just needs the right environment and coach to get back to form.

Aribo replace by any of Nwobodo, kelechi, florunsho or Mathew will have been great.

Still our best list in a long time.No Ekong and Musa

When a player not rated a favorite isn't playing, they criticize his place in the Super Eagles.

Even when Moses Simon scores for his club, or assists in the Super Eagles, we have fans in here still calling for his dropping from the squad. because he isn't exactly a favorite.

But When aribo isnt playing, they quote one assist from ages ago and tell me they "think" he is still a top player , bla bla bla when he can't even nail down a shirt in a 2nd tier league.

What happens to dealing with the reality now that it concerns Aribo? 😂😂

**Yawns**

Aribo is piss poor right now and isn't deserving of an invite. Squeezing out one assist to justify his place is desperation. The lad is not it. He brings nothing of note to our midfield because he is simply not even a midfielder. He is more of a forward and he won't be played there because he isn't overly better than the options available.

And it doesn't matter what you think of his talents. What matters is he is not active enough or holding down a starters' shirt in a 2nd tier league.

That's my whole point. He is seen as an attacker when he is in fact a midfielder. That's why he's not performing well at club level.

He has been a decent midfielder for us. Not necessarily exceptional, but has worked hard enough and performed well enough to keep his place in the team, especially considering our dearth of midfield options.

Fantastic list! However, I think Adams, Nwakali and Onuachu should have been added since it's a friendly match. I want to see Nwakali with those long balls to Osimhen machine like Olise to Yekini at AFCON 1994!

Agree with your submission on this. I still remember that wonderful assist for Osimhen 2nd goal against Sierra Leone! What a pass that was!!

Agree, I'm pleasantly surprised with the list, if we add one or two in the midfield this is a solid Afcon team

He is not a midfielder. That is the point you are missing and will continue to miss in your defence of the Lad. Aribo excels best as an SS or a kind of wing-forward who can link up with his other final third teammates. He excels by link up plays in the final third. He isn't a 2nd phase player but a 3rd phase player.

He is best when he plays anywhere close to the box. He is no true midfield player. Only made to play there because coaches feel he can at least put his body about but in the middle he stays lost.

And decency is relative. Decent relative to who. His best showing for us from midfield/SS roles remain his debut against Ukraine and his shift vs Brazil. Since then, he has just been getting by.
He is a good tackler and puts his body about in midfield but that is all. He lacks the poise, Pausa and spatial awareness in the middle to hold things down for us in that department and HE ISN'T CONSTANTLY PICKED BECAUSE WE HAVE A DEARTH OF MIDFIELD OPTIONS. That is a fat lie.

He is picked simply because our coaches refuse to call up the other options available especially options that are obvious upgrades on Aribo in midfield.

It seems Paserio has problems with our Oyinbos! No Akpo, Okoye and now Ekong! Nigeria! it seems Ndidi will be your Captain going forward. Portuguese are known for firmness! No time for paparazzi. Work hard or you go home! The beginning of new era.

Your proposition is misleading.

Chavez remain at the bottom of the Portuguese league after 7 games. Has just one thier first game by coincidental providence it seems to me.

They had the least possession and attacks on goals, were helped with a penalty and a red card sending off giving Chavez the advantage. It was not an outstanding performance by any stretch of the imagination.

Using Google players ratings by fans who watched the match he Midfield maestro had second worst rating.

Although I don't really see these statistics and player rating as conclusive but indicative. Nonetheless, you trying to imply he was the stand out player is simply not true.

My view remains very much that the bottom quarter percentile is about English league one or lower. So whatever accolades given ( although there are non here ) should be seen in the context of the very poor quality of players in the team.

Just watched a clip of Awka United, right here , I am convinced they would give Chavez a good flogging.
So you brought out all these stat just to show how bad a player from your country is? 😂. This guy is unreal, 😂

Jpes inviting Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as an answer to Iwobi needing help in the creative dept is both good and bad.
Good because I see he's finally listening to reason but bad because Fisayo is decent but not the profile needed to upgrade our creative side in midfield. His style and deeper stats says it all. The team needs a controller, a midfield player who can hold plays together and string passing sequences with the pausa of a dictator.

Fisayo is a decent CM/AM/LM but still lacks what will truly uplift the outlook of our midfield plays. His passing range isn't tops as well.

Finally, I still don't know what Joe Aribo is doing on this list. He has failed to nail down a starting shirt in the Championship and only gets few minutes here and there. He is off form and poor right now and isn't deserving of constant recall. It's not like he has done enough in the GWG colors either to justify his callup.

Jpes continues to deceive himself. Calling up 6 MFs for the first time yet not even calling up the right profile. Smh.

We move. Let us see where Peseiro leads this team.

But fisayo dele bashiru is highly rated. He is a man city product. So i think he has something to offer

the boy hv been doing well so far this season. Already he has 4 goals and an assist from midfield in the Turkish top flight

I see no harm in trying him out, he may turn out to be a worthy cover for Alex Iwobi

Jpes overlooking nwakali in recent games implies that he isn’t really convinced of the player yet

The reason I make this claim is because nwakali plays his club football in the gaffer’s country where he has enough contacts and connections with regards to scouting and if the player hv been as good as quoted by many here the coach could hv easily get tips from his contacts in the league to hv a look at him

we just need one IMHO

If he can draft any of nwakali, Folorunsho, Ifeanyi Mathew or young Akinsanmiro (may be too sudden for the lad) the team’s midfield will be decently equipped judging by what we can currently boast of

Not only that Fisayo has superb goal contribution ratio/stats in the Turkish league so far, he is a regular starter who plays till the last minute of Hatayaspor’s games so far

With such it will be hard for him to be overlooked when the team lacks good number of midfielders in decent leagues in europe

Frowned at his move to the newly promoted Turkish club but his performance and numbers made me hv a rethink and I hope he makes the leap to a better club/league at the end of the season

yes of course, Tom is a regular for Watford this season

Coming to Aribo, I think Jpes is impressed with him based on what he sees in training and also his performance against Guinea 🇬🇳

I think he should be allowed to sort himself out at Soton by seeing more playing time

Ifeanyi Mathew or Folorunsho should be his replacement in the team until he gets back to his best

Interesting to note that Fisayo was considered not good enough for the U20, but his elder brother Tom.

Now he's receiving his call up to the SE before his brother Tom.
