Taal17:I feel coming in with visit visa which is just Six months visa is very short to compare the time it will take get job offer before the visa expire., that's why I think coming in through study route will give her more time and opportunity to get a better job as a Registered Nurse before the end of her one year study, which after then she switch to tier 2 in order to bring in her dependent. That is my idea. What do you think pls? |

pretty1986: Have you done a cost analysis of how much she will require in school fees? How much she will require in living expenses? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Taal17: 1:28pm On Oct 02, 2023 |
pretty1986: My response is based on cost. Cos if she was able to get a job offer from Nigeria you wouldn't consider study route. Lastly both of you should take a step back and reanalyze. No need for pressure cos stressing just makes things worse. Time is not running away. This is a journey..not a destination . All the best 1 Like |

Goke7: P.s I found this reddit page interesting- mirrors some of my sentiments on care jobs. https://reddit.com/r/UKJobs/s/qAUr5e9reP I'm keen to see how the care issue would be solved... no easy answers her. It's a sector largely contracted to private firms (that have to be efficient to survive) and has for a longtime been heavily reliant on foreign labour. The funding from the government has been constrained hence why they struggle to demand a reasonable minimum pay for the sector. Even the UKVI salary limit had to be reduced for carers. With EU net migration becoming negative post brexit, the visa pathway became needed (not wanted). With masters students now being barred from bringing dependents in, there'd be more constraints. Also, that no one needs to have a prerequisite qualification and there being hundreds of such firms make it prone to abuse. Eventually, it'd have to be culled but lets hope its not another deja vu. 2 Likes |

giselle237: Thanks for your response. What if I do nor have some of the documents, like the enrolment letter from school. The child is just in secondary school. I was thinking I don't need to upload anything like i did for main applicant and partner dependant since we are already inside the UK and spent over 12 months. |

pretty1986:Your wife should keep trying. NHS needs nurses and no end in sight . That Msc money is best to use it as down payment for mortgage if eventually she gets one. Doing Msc for a qualified nurse is a waste of money. Lots of Nigerian nurses just went to school of nursing ( advanced diploma) and they are getting NHS jobs. 1 Like |

pretty1986: It’s not impossible to go straight from 1st degree to PhD. A very top degree, and if you have great evidence of active participation in Research that’s fantastic. If you have a couple of 1st author publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals, that’s icing on the cake. |

Madeu:Thanks for your response.Alot of Nurses here in Nigeria are getting frustrated, because they are finding it difficult to get job offer in UK.Infact, most employers needs nurses that are already in uk and have pin already. That is most of them are looking for a way to enter uk first and search for a Job, since they couldn't get job offer while here in Nigeria. So,am advising my Wife to apply for Masters in Public health which is One year course, while doing the program she will sit for OSCE in order to get Uk pin and become uk registered Nurse and start working part time as a UK nurse, then when she finish her One year program in public health, she will then switch to tier 2,so that she can be eligible to bring her husband and kid to join her in uk.We intend to execute the plan next year.Pls any more better advise for us? 1 Like |

jedisco:Internal students will take the roles since they need sponsorship to stay. EU migrants who took these jobs in the past had access to public funds So it's cheaper labor for the UK to use non EU It's the quality of care to patients I'm concerned about. When more of those taking these jobs are doing it solely to survive |

pretty1986: Sincerely, i understand your situation, i would advice you and your wife should keep pushing and be prayerful. My younger sister applied for over 1000 jobs on tracjobs before she got 4 job offers in April. First, apply jobs in carehomes too, they also give sponsorship. Go to nhsjobs.com , apply to the trusts like Frimley nhs, Bath, East london Nhs, Lancashire nhs, Walsall,Dorset, hampshire nhs,Berkshire hospital trust, bromley healthcare nhs etc. You can also apply to Nhs scotland, they give sponsorship too. Nurses are getting offer everyday. It doesnt worth it to come to the uk with a study visa when you can get COS for free. when you come to the uk with a study visa, you will pay for osce exam by yourself and osce exam is expensive. You pay for the training also and you wont get any reimbursement from the hospital which they may take you as an agency nurse(they can terminate your appointment anytime). See what you will benefit when you wait., You will be reimbursed on everything you spent so far, ielts , cbt,. They will pay for your flight, they give you 1month accomodation, some nhs trust give 3months accomodations, pay for osce and training. My advice is , just keep applying, check your supporting statement and your cv. Try to impress when you are given chance for interviews. The journey needs patience and perseverance. 11 Likes 3 Shares |

Hello people, I need a little help on how to go about this please. I got a £25 parking ticket at Birmingham City centre for parking without displaying a ticket. Tbh, I had no idea it was a park and display as I'm not familiar with the area. The taxi driver I met at the spot advised me to download Ringo and pay via it. Long story short, I parked at 10.30 a.m., paid with Ringo around 3 p.m. (no thanks to the network at Macdonald Burlington) and got back to my car around 5:30 p.m. with a ticket (and instructions on how to pay the £25) on my windshield. The timestamp on the ticket read 11:00 a.m. I mailed Birmighman City Council telling them I had paid £10 via Ringo and asked for a link to pay £15, to make the £25. Whoever it was that responded acted like they didn't read my email and kept mentioning £25. To beat time, I sent them a £15 postal order and a the transaction ID of the £10 payment to Ringo (In my mind £25 don complete). Few weeks later, they've now sent me a letter asking for the full £50 less the £15 I paid earlier (£35). Shouldn't the £10 I paid to Ringo count? Am I wrong not to have paid the £25 they asked? |

PtBlank: The money you paid through ringo, was to park your vehicle....... Unfortunately, when you paid ringo, a parking enforcement ticket, had already been issued....... Solution - : Just pay the £35, or else this £35, would metamorphose into £800........😂 2 Likes |

tushqueen: Typically no. However you might get asked for this by the case officer in which case providing proof of commencing the passport application process should suffice. |
