Now I fully understand what onyeka90210 is trying to explain yesterday. The price of Mobil 1 5W30 on Amazon goes for $26. Price of the Mobil 1 5W30 stays the same almost every time on Amazon and if changes maybe it rise with like 2 to 3 dollars and sometimes the price comes lower too.. it naira that is going up. People selling for 20k might have stuck it in when the rate was like 700 to a dollar like he said. Even currently now with the high dollar rate to naira it will still be cheaper cause let say a dollar is 1k in naira now that 26k. And Mobil filling stations told me 40,500

Check the price of oil and shipping.
The shipping isn't affordable at all.

Just better go to mobil filling station and get original.

You said you do buy from eBay and Amazon @ $27, so you don't pay for shipping?
If you did read my previous post well, you'll see where I said price in Nigeria varies with the shipping method used, that's why sense comes to play.
You don't ship directly to Nigeria, you ship to your shipping company that has a U.S warehouse address or a relative in the U.S for free(depending on state), and then they ship it to you here in Nigeria at different costs.
There are different shipping company with different charges and method of shipping, some charge by weight, some charge by parcel dimension.
Shipping companies that handle high volumes of orders use parcel dimensions which is cost effective and after calculations shipment cost per units will be lower compared to companies that handle small order using item weight or fluid ounce in this case.
Someone shipping 5k units will get a cheaper shipping cost per item than Someone shipping smaller units.
Same time if you have someone returning from yankee you can tell him to buy and come.
And on Amazon you're not paying with black market rate because of multiple checkout options (paypal, gift cards, ecodes which are definitely cheaper than black market rates)
So that's where the price variation comes in brother.
I no dey talk based on pure imagination.
Na my work.
Your local filling station cannot dictate the price of a foreign item anyone can import.

You can't order from mobil1 Nigeria, you can only walk into any of their filling station franchise to get one.
Which is technically the same as ignoring ikeja phone vendors selling Samsung and walking into Samsung Nigeria store to buy a phone.
You'll technically be paying more,as it can never be cheaper than what's sold outside but the extra cost comes with peace of mind.
Like I made mention earlier, outside there's competition and the oil will be definitely sold cheaper than what's its sold at the the outlet, the oil is sold 28k to 35k in the market, direct from importers. While the Mobil1 outlet sells for 40_43k.
Then jumia comes in with price slashes, that's why I made mention of going for the ones with price slash.
You'll hardly see anyone sell that oil above 35k in a competitive market.
Same time you can hop on jiji to get from importers and top end sellers with high customer feedbacks and solid reputation.
You can also buy from the bosses on here with reputation as well,
Summary is that the one from jumia works fine, it's the promotions (discount) that makes it look cheap.

You get mind to try to ask someoene to consider an advert of 19k mobil 1.

Dollar was exchanging for 700 naira in November 2022. So you're essentially saying that the seller bought the oil since November 2022. Let's even agree with you.

700*$26 is N18,200. He shipped it into the country, cleared it, transported it from the port to wherever he is based, added his profit, paid jumia commission, paid to transport it to Jumia warehouse and is now selling for N20,000. Does any of this make any sense to you?

There's a reason some of us have never been scammed. We can smell scams from a thousand mile away.

You just remind me of those who even in the face of obvious red flags like this, continued to make sense of MMM and MBA Forex.

Oga go and rest, you just bought AZ 20w50 in a Mobil 1 gallon, so you still think you bought original at a discounted price.

Just wake up and accept the fact that you bought rubbish.
And I know you can't differentiate 20w50 oil from 5w30 oil.

The person giving you morale, ask him when he bought his own oil online what method did he used in bringing it to the country? Abi they also offer him free shipping?

My G, no need to further engage them to derail the thread.
Most of them commenting don't know either how importation works or how jumia promotion sales work, and that's just it.
I have gotten items for half the market price even from official stores on jumia thanks to promotion.

I literally gave a free insight on mini importation and how to make money shipping in stuffs from U.S.
"Nobody is importing mobil1 for 40k and selling for same 40k just because they like the smell of oil or its a hobby" it's Business, and I have no issue with that as people have different cost price which then equates to different selling price.
Some looking for 5k profit per bottle while some looking for 15k profit per bottle.

Like I said, if you get the oil and your mechanic confirms something is fishy about it, you can contact jumia and they'll have it picked up and sent to their expert team for authentication, (not back to seller).
Though I’ll advise you to go to a service center for the oil change, as they are experts in oil change.

Baba I am confuse here o .. This someone returning from yankee is it by trekking, boat, Ship, or by plane

Coz I don't know any sane person that will bring oil that weighs about 9ibs . An empty suitcase weights almost that amount . so by the time you put the oil inside the suitcase and other personal belongings you have more than likely reach your maximum weight that the airline will allow without charging you for excess luggage ......

So person go just carry engine oil put for suitcase and risk the oil spilling and damaging your clothes . or better yet person go pay extra $100 for excess luggage coz of oil worth $26 ... No be juju be that

No sane person go carry this thing put inside suitcase baba... Abi u go carry engine oil for hand pass through security gate enter plane . Abi u dey whine us

Your entire conclusion is just based on the price difference.

Authenticated by top end service center before use.
Engine is still Tokunbo grade.
Already told the guy to get the ones on jumia promo and with product reviews.
And in any case his mechanic confirms the oil to be substandard, he can still get his money back and drop a negative review for vendor warning others.

Quick question Guys, if the catalyst converter container is empty does this affect fuel consumption?

My fuel consumption was fine after fixing the upstream o2 sensor on my honda accord 2.4l engine. I was averaging 75m which is about 120km on 16ltrs of fuel, mostly city driving, but a bit of highway.

A panel beater stuffed the cat container with thick net and I felt it was choking my engine, so I had it removed, since then my fuel economy has dropped to average 63miles. Should I have it fixed back? I'm not really intrested in getting a cat converter.

PS: I only have the o2 sensor S2B1 code.

As long as you don't have p1157, p0410 and p0420 codes you should be fine

P1157 is your upstream sensor the first sensor by the exhaust pipe also known as A/F sensor.

P0410 can be fixed by changing the downstream sensor, that is called oxygen sensor the one bolted on the catalyst.

P0420 can be solved easily by buying a 02 spacer and bolting it to the straight pipe used to replace the catalyst then you bolt the downstream sensor to the spacer. Your fuel economy should improve
