Not an expert but purely based on fundamentals, I would sell off the following (provided you're not in a loss position in any of them, else hold and continue to observe the market):

-Interbrew
-Oando
-Multiverse
-Caverton
-Champion
-MBenefit.

Thank you.
I believe some losses here and there is part of the equation though mine in Interbrew is not too steep. Will do my DD on Mbenefit once there 3rd qtr result is out.

Thank you once more.

Too many companies in just one portfolio. Who died? Kilode?

I try as much as I can to avoid Over-diversification.

My cap is always 10 companies, and I always try never to exceed it, even if a new entrant like VFD calls my attention.

Exactly my point so we are on the same page. So if you were in my shoe, which ones will you do away with?

My target number at the end of the day is 15 or 20 max so your input will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Uba interim dividend yet to enter.
We still wait.
Mistook another alert for it wen I

Thank you Boss. I appreciate your response. Looks like there's accumulation going on in 1 of the companies you highlighted if not both but will do my DD over the weekend and see if I can pick up some Afolabi units come Monday.

Respect.

UBA and Transcorp are currently highly priced based on prior year prices. But UBA current book values still look unbelievable. If the number s are correct it is bound to continue rising. But if bloated, there could be surprises if we enter a generational low. So I have no clue of what lies ahead. But in terms of stocks to enter UBA seems still better than many on currently available data and prospects, Except for OANDO which is for qualified investors. High risk and potential high rewards. Couldn't help the urge to average down this week on OANDO. An oga here said one should not play more than 10 or even 20% portfolio investments on such bets. My bets are even lower than these grin

I am currently looking at averaging up on Transcorp come Monday at current price or below. For Oando, sold off 70% already as got in at avg of N5 per unit though Naira depreciation has swallowed all the profit.

Any contrary opinion on Transcorp?

*** NOT A BUY RECOMMENDATION !!!

Thank you everyone for all the good work being done here.

I am trying to prune down my portfolio and I am looking at exiting at least 6 from the 31 below. Any suggestions?

Access, Afriprud, Berger, Caverton, Champion, Chams, Custodian, Cutix, FCMB, Fidelity, Flourmill, Honyflour, Interbrew, JAIZ, Lasaco, Linkassure, Mbenefit, Mbaker, Multiverse, Nahco, Ngxgroup, Oando, Reg Assure, Sterling, Transcorp, UBA, Unilever, UPDC, UPL, Wapco & Wema.

I will do my DD. Thank you everyone once more.
Disclaimer: This is self serving for me as a stake to review upcoming end of year performance of the stocks for change in opinions.I have exposure to some of the listed stocks. DD is a most. I will put an update on this if there is a need for that foir sake of transparency.

Seem like an index approach,
My TOP keepers: ACCESS, AFRIPRUD, Flourmill (I will convert all my honeyflour to Flourmill position),Transcorp,UPDC,UBA,NGXGROUP,NAHCO

Keeper grade B: Multiverse (instead of replacing, i will add Japaul at an amount if it sits and does nothing forever = 1 spanner lost), Cutix,WAPCO,WEMA,STERLING,CHAMS,CUSTODIAN

Dogwater: Reg Assure, UPL,Honeflour,JAIZ,LASACO,LINKASSURE

Sit and Watch (I have no opinion on this): OANDO , Fidelity, Mbaker,MBENEFIT ,caverton, interbrew.
Replacement approach :
** review if you still want to be exposed to the paint business? I will Replace Berger with CAP (Better prospect growth and divy play) or replace with UACN (if you don't have stomach for conglomerate back and forth, stick with CAP)
** Multiverse : I will replace with Thor exploration that has Segilola in Osun state (if you have access to AIM uk or Canadian biourse for arbitrage play in the ). I will split holding this with Japaul for Mining PurePlay

**Mbaker: I will gladly replace this with FIDSON (This may be our Megamkt cap Pharmaceutical company in the forseable future for growth and divy )

** For insurance play: I will focus on Custodian and Lead or AXA.

**Banking Contrarian: My biased opinion will not be helpful in your holdings of FCMB, FIDELITY.There are multiple ways and layers to skin the financial institution cat.maybe if you give more info on what you are looking to acheive in the banking space, i may be more direct. I will defer to other guys in banking space.

Also look into the conglomerates in other space of naija economy if you have not to enjoy the rising tide in portfolio because they will more often than not benefit from that. Stay safe and blessed!!!

Caverton, Champion, Chams, Cutix, Honyflour, JAIZ, Linkassure, Mbenefit, Multiverse, Nahco, Ngxgroup, Oando, Reg Assure, Transcorp, UPDC, and UPL.

Thank you Sir Hogwart.
Most grateful for your input. Will keep re-reading your input as it is filled with a lot of nuggets.

My background is not Finance so do not know the ways & layers to skin the financial cat you were talking about but I am open to learning. Objective is just to maximize the portfolio's return by making it more efficient.

For Berger & Fidelity, I got in at below 7 and 3, so with their dividend yield, I don't think it is too bad but then I am still learning.

All other points highlighted, noted.

Thank you once more

I have no clue on where Transcorp will end in the short to medium term like a year or two. For me I will not buy more at current prices as I am more of a bargain hunter. Transcorp has long term growth prospects but there are many ifs in its prospects especially with an entry on current price. But follow your instincts plus other good advice after due DD I may be biased because based on current valuation Transcorp moved from 5% of my portfolio to over 15% without raising a finger and is in the three stocks making up 80% of my current portfolio valuation.

Mine also arrived this night but already sold all my UBA last week. Will do a quick transfer Monday morning to buy more Oando.
Then will follow that fresh newbie into the stock he mentioned by week ending.
And I still think I will be in time for twice as much UBA! And I will not wait for N30 will come down way before.

0LODO as you can see the previous #501k deposit on my account yesterday was withdrawn that simply tells you that I don't leave a dime my savings acct.

Meanwhile next week we top up our UBA and still patiently wait for OANDO @t circa #5

Good morning all,
I just got interested in buying shares.
I bought shares in Mtn, Gt and some others directly from the market and to be specific through cardinal stones registrars asset trading
My question is
What do I need to do to be getting dividends later? Thanks.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 6:15am On Oct 07, 2023
These are the dividend income growth and the total dividends earned in September 2023 by 2 of the investor from a Facebook group I belong to.

By the way, these are average guys. The first guy was a firefighter, while the second guy was in the US Navy for about 10 years before he retired

One of my mentees claimed to have made a total dividend of almost N2 million from January to September 2023, which is not bad for someone who started investing in the stock market about 10 years ago

An unassuming friend just collected 4.6m from UBA as interim dividend. He started investing only 3 years ago, during the COVID lockdowns. He came into the market with big money though.
