Truths9ja: Igbos and Yorubas are like beans and rice, they love each other very much. The usual tribal rantings here on nairaland is just a sign of deep love for each other, like brothers coming together to boast of how much they have achieved for themselves and how well they are doing after a long separation. 1 Like |

gudugudumeje: Ugbo is Igbo. They inhabited everywhere in lower Niger with the Oru who are now Ijaw before other people arrived. As at then there was no definition of ethnic groups as we have them today. The world as at then resonated around Oru and Ugbo who were same people but difference was just water and land habitation. The Ugbos when displaced migrated down to join their Oru brothers in Riverine areas which weren't of interest to various invading groups. |

pandoragirigory:If Igbos migrated from Ife, then Lagos really belongs to the Igbos. That's where they were living before they moved farther south and now they have come back to reclaim their Lagos. LAGOS BELONGS TO IGBOS. 3 Likes |

BitterTruth01:Pardon the Ooni of Ife. I m a Yoruba woman who doesn't blv Igbos came out of Ife. About Ekaladerhan or whatever exiled Benin prince, I don't think he's Oduduwa. But if he is, no qualms. However, Yoruba culture has more influence on Edo or Benin culture. 4 Likes 1 Share |

People threw insults here and there. Despite that ooni should be commended for upholding the history reminding us of the past to show us humanity is one. What I learnt from the posts is the igbos in ife might be a section of igbos. Might not be all igbos living at that time. 1 Like 1 Share |

Igbos ran away from ife because of incesant attacks from the enemy combats. That was before oduduwa arrived. Thence the attacks from enemy were defeated and stabilized the town. Oduduwa met oranmiyan and others in ife. Oduduwa was not biological father of yoruba people, but symbolical father. He was a hero in the land. 1 Like |

lol. i have so much respect for this oni of ife, because i learnt he is a youth friendly king, who likes empowering the youths in his domain, but why is he speaking out of points, by trying to re-write history ? why do they even allow him to marry plenty wives, because women like liquor can really make some men to mis-yarn ? Oga oba, pls stop insulting us, because we know our history. |

What ooni said is akin or comparable and consistent with reality on the ground. You see today, igbos in south east have small land. Because you needed to fight and win land in those days. Igbos were not organized enough to achieve that. They easily defeated in war. Ethnic groups that achieved getting big land had kings or rulers that well organized their people. Igbos didnt have that. That was why azikiwe was adamant on one nigeria, because the land igbos could not get through war, they could get it through one nigeria thing. Ipob also following his step. They insist that south south must be in their imaginary biafra. 1 Like |
