The is a conclusive evidence that he is parading an oluwole certificate if he had gone to school as he claimed he would have understood basic economics
The people of lagos did not feel too much pain then because of the PDP at the centre that have sound economic policies that shielded them from economic hardship but since PDP yielded the center, you can see that things have generally fallen apart for them, they are empty, shallow of no substance but got A in propaganda
Wow. You actually believe this?!

Actually the president didn't start on a good note, it was obvious that the fuel subsidy benefited few individuals but then, there are better ways of solving this kind of problem.

50% reduction in subsidy and also making provisions for refineries would have been the best approach.

Proper planning wasn't done now we are all forced to operate in the realm of confusion..

Floating our currency is the worst mistake oh! Dollar/Naira exchange rate is the reason why we are suffering.

His advisers should have done better because you don't remove subsidy on fuel and float Naira at the same time knownig full well that the exchange rate will determine the price of fuel.

As long as Tinubu rules, he'll be a puppet of the U.S government. They'll shield his criminal past, give him more loans as long as he plays along. Floating the Naira is bad economic policy for now. He should have ensured we have working refineries first.

The US seems to have Tinubu's balls.
IMF and world bank say float. You mumuly float.

Wo. baba is afraid.
The west have a history of taking out stubborn presidents in Africa.

No working refinery.

I wonder why we still sell our mineral resources in Dollars.

Like we all saw it coming fright from time, those 2 decisions; brazen removal of subsidy and floating of the Naira have since shown clearly that the man who claimed he knew everything actually knows nothing. From a person's public engagements and utterances on the state of affairs, you can guess with some certainty if he is capable of contributing anything as president. Tinubu clearly showed he had nothing to offer.

Now, both the thoughtless subsidy removal and illiterate floating of the Naira have blown up in his face and his response is just trial and error. How do you float a currency that has no manufacturing or export economy hedging it? Is it then a surprise how the Naira immediately shot to 1,000 to a dollar? Anyways, his goons who only know how to write long literature essays containing lies are already working on it.

Naira is depreciating wildly against the dollar because Ebola and his cronies are pocketing most of the dollars Nigeria make from crude oil sales, and only bring out a trickle to defend the Nigeria,of course thanks to the forces of demand and supply,Naira will continue falling when too many Naira is pursuing few available dollars.

The PDP is not the foundation of any problem here. Whatever we are facing now is caused by Tinubu and APC. Had Tinubu allowed Jonathan to remove the subsidy back then, i don't think this thread would have been created now.

Your first statement is incorrect.

We have notoriously short memories as a people.

Like I said, nobody has to take my word for it. The evidence is there on threads on this very platform. The PDP misgoverned this country and that is the truth. The APC is far worse no doubt, but it is complete falsehood to paint the various PDP governments as some competent, prudent managers of men and resources. It is precisely because they were failing that it was so easy for APC demagogues to seize power.

Let's leave the past and ask the important questions about the here and now. Are Nigerians better off after 8 years under the APC? Of course not. Things are far worse after what Muhammadu Buhari (and now Bola Tinubu) gave Nigerians what they claimed they had to offer. But we have to remember how we got here. Having said that, no one should be in any doubt where I stand on the performance of the failed party currently in power. Yes, the bar set by PDP was very low to begin - but the biggest tragedy is that the thoroughly useless, incompetent APC could not even raise the standard one cubit - after 8 long years going on 9. undecided

Failures, all of them.

I would be the last person on earth to make any excuses for the failure called APC. That much should be clear from my posting history. It is clear that the APC is an abysmal failure, but the PDP is also in the same league of failed political parties. The difference between the two is marginal at best. Besides, this distinction between the two doesn't really help us in any way - why should we spend our time comparing two failures? undecided We will be better served getting rid of them forever and ever.

You do have a point with the diversity management part. Although one part of me believes this "diversity management programme" was nothing but a cynical "equal opportunity" scheme for Nigeria's criminal political elite to exclusively plunder at will - I'll reluctantly give you that: the PDP did manage the cracks in this union better. The politics of that era was less divisive. However, that is no longer the case today - and that cruel, wicked old man who led the previous APC government (and his equally cruel and wicked successor) are fully to blame. The Buhari administration was singularly bad at managing the centrifugal forces that have always bedeviled this union - and BAT has continued in the same vein.

On the economic front the answer is "No". The PDP was is a corrupt, venal political party, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit. That party was so secure in its belief that there would be no consequences for its maladministration - that Vincent Ogbulafor ignored the warning signs and said the party would rule for 60 years. We all saw how that turned out.

No need for too much talk. The threads of how Jonathan's PDP government laid the groundwork for running the economy into the ground are all here on this platform. Sure enough, the APC has built on that evil legacy with even more shocking mismanagement of its own but the PDP is not what you claim it is. Thank God that no one can ever accuse me of being an APC shill - I have been (and will continue to be) one of the most virulent critics of APC misrule. You can be absolutely sure of that. What I will not do is come here and pretend the PDP was full of angels of light.
I think you misconstrued economic management with fighting corruption but even at that, PDP is still miles ahead. PDP created efcc and it was used to investigate and indict even members of its own party regardless of rank. APC on the other hand just handed over the arguably the biggest poster boy of corruption their chairmanship.
Also, blaming another for malaise is a cheap pastime of politicians anyone who knows anything shouldn't buy into. If APC know that PDP had already laid the groundwork for running the economy down, why did they campaign with a promise of doing better than PDP? On the other hand, if things improved after APC took office, do you think they'll waste time reminding everyone how terrible PDP was or they'll rather blow their trumpets and call attention to their success? Only a failure goes about looking for blames. By all indices and metrics, APC tanked the economy

There's nothing to misconstrue. Let's not split hairs on the difference between economic management and fighting corruption. There is a relationship. No government can claim to be good managers of men and materials and yet turn a blind eye to the damage that corruption does. Its actually just a matter of time before official corruption fully wipes out whatever economic gains that may have been made by good policy.

Instead of GEJ to get down to business and clean up his government, he is on record as Nigeria's only president to give a completely unnecessary lecture on the legal distinction between stealing and corruption. undecided What for? Well, you're judging PDP's 16 years with GEJ who spent 5 years only out of the total. Besides, he wasn't giving a lecture or anything close to that but was actually reporting what he said a retired judge told him when he asked why it was so difficult for the courts to convict people accused of corruption. Unfortunately, the boisterous opposition mob then amplified it to mean he was defending corruption and went to town with that.

^^^
Fair enough. But what was the conviction rate? How many high profile arrests and trials can you remember that actually led to convictions? How many times was justice actually served?
Again, that's a question for the courts to answer. Ibori was arraigned here. He pleaded not guilty and was discharged and acquitted by the courts. Odili got a perpetual injunction which conferred lifetime immunity on him. Even after NJC banned the issuing of perpetual injunctions as clearly illegal, his own is still regarded as in full effect! You really can't blame PDP for our courts not being proactive in corruption cases. Even Buhari complained about them even though he ended up making the judiciary weaker for selfish reasons.

^^^

Well, based on strict comparison between PDP and APC years, PDP are like Einstein while APC are certified dullard. The result is there. When PDP took over the economy, the minimum wage for example was a paltry 700. OBJ increased it to 3500 as one of his first steps in office. Now just imagine how much that changed the life of the average Nigerian then. That was over 100dollars then. Compare that to now where minimum wage is 30k from 18k PDP left it and is worth just 30dollars!

Like i said, not that PDP were angels but they were far better and above APC. That's a fact even APC can't dispute. In terms of economy, national cohesion and management of our union, PDP are far better than APC.
Look at what we're dealing with presently. A president who forged his own certificate out of desperation for power. And the funny thing is the same Keyamo who along with his boss blew the whistle on him in 1999 is defending him today that PDP must produce the forgers to come to court and confess to being accomplices in the forgery!! Just imagine how low we've sunk in public morality and decency. Now, Keyamo is doing that because going forward, even if he is caught with the cookie jar, what moral right will Tinubu have to ask him to answer for his misdemeanor? APC is a dogs don't eat dogs franchise. Ganduje is national chair of the ruling party today despite the babanriga dollar video.
What APC is building is a safe house for assorted criminals whose single purpose will be the sustenance of the house. They are a scourge on our national life and pride
