Friendly advice, if you’re coming to school in Canada please have enough money to last you for the first 3- 6 months o, it’s not all that easy here don’t let anybody sugarcoat anything for you, aside the job search school work will mess with your mental health 😞

Please research the school well and make sure it’s a course you’re comfortable with, if possible avoid Ontario too most especially Toronto area. The school stress plus job plus weather will test your mental health.

Shed more light pls
How much are we talking about?

Hi guys,
I remember asking about judicial review here. I want to give an update for the benefit of people who might be in that situation.

My cousin going for 1 year MSc, school fees 45k CAD fully paid, living expenses in 6 months account statement submitted both in USD and naira total of 25k USD, no lump sum, newly married but wife not going with him for stronger home ties, yet after all these, he was denied twice with their insufficient finance and other grammar.

From all indications, the main reason why they denied him is that all his siblings are in Canada. He is the only one remaining in Nigeria. They didn't say that is the reason but in GCMS note, the officer noted that point indirectly.

So my cousins here contacted a lawyer and filed for judicial review at the Federal court. Before even getting to the stage where the Judge will grant the Application for Leave, the IRCC lawyer reached out for settlement. Dem no wan face judge defend their decision grin

So the litigation was withdrawn and after 2 weeks, the gave him PPR. However this cost almost 8k CAD for Lawyer fees to go through that process. Canadian lawyers no get joy for money oooo grin but it was worth it at the end.

Like I suspected, IRCC sometimes intentionally deny people with other biased reasons different from what they state on paper. This is because they know pursuing judicial reviews is expensive so students would likely keep applying and give up at the end. Fortunately in saner climes, people who do bad avoid going to court cos they know the consequences unlike in Nigeria, people will commit crime and tell you to go to court grin

If you are denied and you are sure you have a solid case, don't be scared to go to court if you have the money. If IRCC see you have gone to court, they will offer you settlement before it gets to a Judge and you will get a PPR afterwards. IRCC does not want to waste time and money to fight for a case they know they will likely loose so they will rather settle it and move on.

I followed this case because my sibling (last born) is also the only one remaining in Nigeria and coming through school next year. Now my cousin own has worked, I'm now confident my sibling own will work next year if not by normal process then by judicial review.

Goodluck to everyone applying for a visa.

Please I need suggestions or feedback on Expired medical (beyond 12 months),
My relatives did upfront medical and it took them a long time to finally receive their PPR.
Earlier, when the PPR was not forthcoming and it got to the last day of enrolment, they deferred their admission. Now that the initial upfront medical has expired.
Even though they have their counter foil, they have just gone for a fresh medical and don’t know what steps to take.
1. Will Airline allow them to travel?
2. How will IRCC know about the new medical status as they don’t have any open Visa applications?
3. How will they( applicant) know the outcome of the new medical?
4. How can they confirm if IRCC has even received or tracked that new medical?
5.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? how did you go about it Please

Am not sure if airlines will stop them from travelling..due to medical expired!!
If they have done medicals again send it to ircc through webform..
They can go to the portal they used for visa application to check if counterfoil is still valid..If it is no longer valid due to medical examination they have to wait until ircc re-activates it..that is after they have received new medical examination.

Check concordia university that the university am going to for computer science too. But regarding your grades, computer science is a hard course, but if you eventually apply and get admitted you would have to apply for CAQ. But you will also need to write ielts if yo scored below B3, and lastly when applying you dont need your waec result, you will send it when you get admitted.

Note; if you are not comfortable with the requirement we can research together.

SOP is optional. Also good to declare it there. But it's compulsory for one of the immigration forms.
