Oh I am 100% left wing. Jesus was a socialist. He always fought for the oppressed. He was working class, poor , humble. He was slow to judge, infact each time he met a "sinner" (corrupt tax collector, village pr*stitute, armed robber, leper) he drew them closer and changed their lives. He was a refugee and immigrant too and lived by the sermon on the Mount. These facts informed my political leanings today. One of the distinguishing features of Conservatism is having an unfavourable view of immigrants. They are also nationalistic believing their nation is the greatest. Because they believe this , they view immigrants with suspicion and fight any other culture apart from theirs. Sound familiar? What they do not understand is that demographic change is inevitable. You cannot stop it. Like Japan is finding out to its cost, its allow immigration or die out.Either way another culture will take your place. Simples heroshark: 2 Likes |

missjekyll: Who is talking about Muslims? Why do you have to live well with Muslims in Nigeria (Yorubaland)? Why not Muslims in Nigeria (everywhere)? Who said it is different in UK or are you not living well with Muslims in UK? There are different ideologies (not only religious ideologies), but since you have asked for an example, in Canada, the Muslim community protested the sharing and eating of pork in schools, the Education ministry asked them to go to any of the many countries where pork is prohibited in schools. 2 Likes |

The canada story did NOT happen https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-dorval-quebec-hoax-idUSL1N2OO1CI I used Muslims because when the far right refer to immigrants trying to change their culture, they usually are referring to Muslims. I also used Yorubaland as an example of peaceful coexistence because you can get both Christians and Muslims in one family. That is rare in the East and North Viruses: 1 Like |

Morning all. Regardless of how people are warned before coming to UK,still majority will not listen. UK is not a place where people own houses with 3buildings in it or over 10rooms. Before coming either on Sponsorship, Visiting or Student route,we all say to the government accomodation provision is made or will be made. Even people dat where born in this country wey don reach 30yrs plus are living with their parents or decide not to create family or born kids How will a foreigner move to a different country without making provision for accomodation. If people can book flights ahead, same shd bre for accomodation. UK now no easy for new entrants but still majority of our people go dey come with faith. An average accomodation for a family of 4 in London is 2bedroom flat which cost over £1600 with bills. Most people coming now are coming with kids. Child care cost sef cari muscle. Am just checking for a Nanny myself,it cost average £10/hr. To see accomodation is easy as far he/she have the gbemu. Airbnb,Hotels dey there. My first experience as parent on childcare,I went online on childcare.co.uk website,I found a childminder, she requested £100 borrowing even b4 she started looking after my kids,I gave her. till date, she never refund. Even the lady na black. She even said to me that this shd he a lesson to me,that I must never leave my kids for strangers. I made complain to d childcare website, nothing dey do for the matter. This same lady even steal, scam other white parents wey used her service.Nothing wey police do. I know 9ja no easy, but if new entrant to UK can at least pay 2weeks-1month Rent in advance, it will be better for them and the family. Don't rely on family and friends for UK for accomodation. Na breakfast dem go gv person. God bless 12 Likes |

missjekyll: Do you consider the view disgusting because you are an immigrant yourself ? If the table turn will you still find it disgusting? Back home in Nigeria, every states hates the idea that another tribe is thriving and might overrun their hometown. So a majority of Nigerians hold that "disgusting view" on immigration. They only consider it disgusting when they are the immigrant. PS: I'm not saying you are one of them, I'm just trying to point out the error in your argument that "right-wing is no place for people of color". A majority of the people of color (immigrants) are right leaning when they are in their home countries, they only start having opposing views when it favors them. 12 Likes |

Where did i say "disgusting " ? I wouldn't use that word about an opposing political ideology. As to changing political leanings ,Growth is great and can occur indirectly( reading others experiences) or directly( personal experience) . Either way is acceptable. I m a huge fan of immigration because i know its a force of nature. It cannot be stopped. Why break yourself trying? Welcome the stranger heroshark: |

kwakudtraveller: Who ever that spend more hours for UK Airport,u will pity our people that are just arriving with kids but with no where to stay. UK is just like business. You must first invest with your savings for accomodation before you are start reaping only if you are smart enough because monthly living expenses cari muscle. Most landlords now are even rejecting tenant with a child for 1bedroom flat. The living expenses stipulated by the Govt no be for joke. I know few European friends wey don japa from UK due to cost of living. I get friends & family wey don take me as enemy just because of telling them the bitter truth say no be every one wey dey UK are OK financially. |
