Naledi Pandor is using her position as the Minister of International Relations to speak up for Palestine.

The South African official gave a speech at Johannesburg's Constitutional Hill and took the opportunity to support Palestine.

SABC News reported that Naledi Pandor spoke at a conference by NUMSA and said that Israel should be boycotted due to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

She also emphasised the African Union's invitation to Israel so that they can be observers at the African Union should be rescinded.

Naledi urged the 54 countries in African to support her cries for Palestine.

In February SA and Algeria forced the removal of the Israeli observer from an African Union meeting.

Pandor shared her recent experience, stating,

“The African Union Commission chairperson had issued an invitation to Israel to become an observer at the African union. Imagine my horror. I decided at that moment that I would raise my arm and would propose that this decision be rescinded. I walked around the room seeking support of 54 nations. I got three and I included SADC in that. But I said nevertheless this is not gonna happen.”

SA apparent support for Palestine is because Israel was an ally of the white minority government of SA.
