Some parts of Ondo sef (especially the riverine areas ) are closer to Niger delta people (Ijaws) more than other Yorubas . I think it impacted on their language and even cultures .

All languages in the world today first lived as ideas in the minds of some people of the past.

It was such humans that created these languages for their people to develop and be able to communicate with one another using sophisticated means.

A language is just like any other invention out there. Just like you don't expect every human in the world to be using an iPhone or a Samsung phone or a Nokia phone, it's unnatural to think every human should adopt English language, just one invention out of many, to communicate primarily.

There are parts of Ondo State where every town has its own language. I believe it is because of the mountainous topography. It meant many of the communities lived in relative isolation from one another in ancient times, and isolation is one of the primary drivers of differentiation in language as each community will experience language drift in its own way. Therefore, even if they spoke the same language initially, their languages will differ over time.

This also explains the situation in Plateau state.

That is my theory at least.
