Gov. Nwifuru Completes Construction Of Dreaded Emefor Street With 6 Inches Best Concrete Mixture (Photos)


Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State Nwifuru has completed the construction of once dreaded Emefor Street, Abakaliki On 6 Inches Best Concrete Mixture.


This was was made known by the Special Assistant On New Media to the Governor, Mr. Leo Oketa on Monday.

He further revealed that the road is solidified in 6 inches best concrete mixture with proper expansion joints to allow for normal expansion, contraction or settling that occurs due to temperature changes or moisture conditions


According to him, "I bring to you this morning, the once dreaded Emefor Street, Abakaliki, now a beauty to behold and a delight for the use of the people of Ebonyi State, courtesy of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Governor, Ebonyi State."

"As customary with our internal roads, it is solidified in 6 inches best concrete mixture with proper expansion joints to allow for normal expansion, contraction or settling that occurs due to temperature changes or moisture conditions."

Honestly, this is beautiful. Dave Umahi is singlehandedly revolutionising the way we construct roads in Nigeria.

In the next decade, we compare the durability of those roads. If it's good, it should be made law across the country that every state should start using cement to fix their road.

I notice that Lagos State uses interlocking tiles to construct street roads in the state. Unfortunately, when Fashola was minister of works, he didn't promote it across the country. Even if state roads are on the concurrent list, encourage other state governors to embrace it. We cannot keep fixing roads every now and then.

It is an interior road. So long it embodies drainages on both sides, there's no need for expansivity. Even in the US, roads like this are meant to be single carriage ways.

@Op please tell the governor to look into rural road network and rural electrification throughout the state.

A case study is the road from Inyimagu,Ume,Izo to Ogagbo in Ikwo local government is in shamble and not motorable.
