Nobody is talking about the big Elephant in the room, which is lack of electricity. This week I've spent 58,000 naira on fuel for my generator for work, that is full tank for alot of cars every week, and the car owners are complaining, what about us that need Electricity to work.

I barely get 6 hours of electricity, I tried buying solar, but the conditions are too much, turn off this, turn this on, don't use this bulb. Mehn, plus I can't turn on AC while working.

Since my work is from home I decided to buy a laptop worth 1million here on Nairaland (thanks to Nairaland) just to ease my work, atleat I get 4 hours of break in severe heated room with my laptop.

How else can someone survive in this country with this low electricity, is there any state that is better? Or is it a must I have to travel to another African country just to get simple electricity to work. My generator just went off and my fuel gone, that why I came here to rant. I'm going to buy feul at 615 naira per litre cry

What are your energy demands outside powering your laptop and an A/C?

Here are what I will suggest :

Get an inverter A/C that can run on a smaller generator .

Get a smaller generator . They consume less fuel . You can run 6litres for 12hours on the smallest Sumec gens that can also power a more energy efficient A/C unit.

I believe you can shave off half of what you spend on fuel if you follow this advice.

You have said everything I wanted to type.

The OP sounds like an 18 year old yahoo boy.

He bought laptop of 1m, and he is complaining of fuel of 160k per month.

Why didn't he buy a laptop of 300k, then add the 160k he used in buying fuel for one month to the balance of 700k and rent a place of 750k where the power is relatively stable, and use the balance of 10k to eat catfish pepper soup?

This nairaland has been taken over by kids, honestly.

Where I stay in Abuja... I get an average of 20 hours power supply everyday.
boss u sabi

I just don’t want to talk about his age n money management before someone label me jealous or envious

With 1m I will get a solar device ( very good one) around 500 n get a laptop of 500 too.

Even if I am staying in d deepest jungle I no care

My bro just moved to his house last 3 months, it’s far from town n they don’t know can have transformer in d area not to talk of light n other things

If u see how many landlords use their roof do solar even u go fear, I am sure nepa no fit use dem do shakara for there

How many KVA inverter are you using?
How many tubular batteries?
How about solar panels? Before op can set a good solar system it will cost him over a million naira

Fixing solar that will work with AC is 430k n he can use d rest to buy system n have rest of mind

But people will decide to act stupid n later blame d government

The only thing u can’t use with a 430k solar is hot plate

Some people here just want to do stupid things n look for who to blame

Even ordinary sunking solar fan na 80k n u will use it for 12 hours comfortably

I spent less that 500k for my solar n I am good to go

Move to Benin replublic or Osogbo and enjoy good electricity or invest in solar

If you can buy a 1m laptop, you can invest in the dollar set up

Don't forget that "specialists" are currently advocating an increase in tax to revamp fiscal policy and boost government revenue.

These so-called specialists pretend to be ignorant about the fuel subsidy removal for this very purpose, the numerous sources of revenue that accrue to the federal government are suddenly non-existent, indirect taxes that have been increased numerous times in three years now, and paid by the masses are inadequate to fund government policies. The cost of living rising to the heavens is just statistics. Nigerians attempting, and committing suicide owing to their inability to cope with the ever expanding gap between income and cost of living are the little price we pay for a robust economy that has been spiralling downhill since 2015 but much much worse in 2023.

My heart goes out to the very poor. Bread, their only sustenance, is being taken from them but we keep supporting those taking it away from them. At least you can even afford the expenses. May God be merciful on this corrupt nation.

After running for president since 2003, Buhari gained office and did NOTHING for 8 years. His greatest achievement with power is buying some useless transformers from Siemens that we can't even use.

His main priority during that 8 years looking out for the welfare of foreigners and their cows while his underlings plundered the excess crude account.

If I vote a politician in the hopes that they do better I will not clap for them and lambast my fellow citizens when they fail because I AM NOT MAD

It is because I am not mad that I have opted to be objective even in criticism.

Buhari was a colossal mess but at least we both agree he materialised the deal for Siemens to bring and install enegy transformers to improve our electricity generation capacity, a project that is currently underway. So there's no viability to you labelling that project as "useless" in the interim.

I have no love lost for this government or the previous, but as regards electricity, if we cannot be honest enough to admit that it is better today than it was with OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ put together, then we're no different from the politicians.

Government should be a continuum and our improved electricity today, even if not at a 60 percent satisfaction rate, is a cumulative output of efforts from previous governments sustained to this day.

OP, please, emotions don't win but facts and law do!
- you didn't tell the audience your Area in Nigeria but I have been saying it severally here that unless and until we get our Electricity/ Power Sector ( Generations and Distribution) well ,we are just Dreaming of Industilisation.
• President Tinubu should know this by now and
• Power Sector Minister- should equally know that at the end of 4- yrs,we will ask him a lot of questions,if Nigeria don't come out of this Darkness,as we don't know what his Department is doing, agreed that Light is fair in some Areas or Regions but can we have 365- Days Non- Stop lights?
-Indeed,the present DISCOS are Fraudulent Entity with Manipulation tensendecies- no New Transformers, No Prepaid Meters, Estimated Billing is still very much prone, More Darkness, etc.
-They don't have Solutions to the Power Sector and they will do everything to frustrate those that want to perform,so Govt should just take them over and Pay them Off,then bring in New Investors- who can deliver!
-We should invite those they earlier sidetracked like the General Electric, under GEJ,etc, and give them -Targets of Performance.
-The Youths, are indeed,ALL NIGERIANS are suffering and if we get Electricity - Power Sector well, then we would have •solved 60% NIGERIA Problems because all other Sectors have one thing or the other- attached to the Power Sector.
•That is how you can get Industrialised- other Nations are not waiting for Nigeria!

You can blame the politicians for being inadequate and useless when Nigerians spend all their time in churches and mosques asking God to provide.

Nigerians have failed to hold their politicians accountable, so they rule with impunity. Elections are a small part of the democratic process; holding politicians to account is the key part.
