I don't give a flying fùck, the people who claimed to fix the rot borrowed magnitudes more and did magnitudes less.

I am in Lagos......but there are tons of things you can do over there too. Look around you.
The only thing available to do now is server for mason in house building work. But I can't really do that right now because of my health condition.

Nobody is talking about the big Elephant in the room, which is lack of electricity. This week I've spent 58,000 naira on fuel for my generator for work, that is full tank for alot of cars every week, and the car owners are complaining, what about us that need Electricity to work.

I barely get 6 hours of electricity, I tried buying solar, but the conditions are too much, turn off this, turn this on, don't use this bulb. Mehn, plus I can't turn on AC while working.

Since my work is from home I decided to buy a laptop worth 1million here on Nairaland (thanks to Nairaland) just to ease my work, atleat I get 4 hours of break in severe heated room with my laptop.

How else can someone survive in this country with this low electricity, is there any state that is better? Or is it a must I have to travel to another African country just to get simple electricity to work. My generator just went off and my fuel gone, that why I came here to rant. I'm going to buy feul at 615 naira per litre cry

You never serious....

Solar will save you more money than all this generator stuff you are doing

But your money...your life

160k naira per month is over 1.6 million naira per year

That same money will give you a good solar setup that can carry even desktop.

This isn't being objective, this is willful ignorance. Nigerians are too comfortable living in squalor and I'm honestly starting to think you all deserve to suffer.

After 8 years it is still underway.

Ukraine that is at war still has electricity.

Iraq that was bombed back to the days of Babylon has 100% electricity access and it's the same oil they are using. Meanwhile you are here hyping the purchase of transformers, you don't even have shame. undecided

The only continuum here is failure.

Insulting me doesn't exactly make your arguments more convincing or intimidating.

I am not a Nigerian who lives in squalor, neither am I ignorant. Leadership failure is a concern we collectively share as a people but ignoring the baby steps of progress and reeling out comparisons about how Hiroshima had electricity in the midst of a nuclear explosion, isn't going to increase our current electricity capacity by a single kilowatt.

You can stay on nairaland and bark at your interlocutors all you want, it is not going to stir anyone to do things differently unless we as citizens find the will to demand leadership accountability through the proper means.

It's too small. There's none of my business branches I don't spend at least 1.2 million monthly on diesel. I do spend at least 8 million Naira monthly on power. Even public power is equally expensive cause you'd only save half if you do get 20 hours per day.

The last chance we had to get leadership accountability had Nigerians attacking their fellow citizens at their polling units over five thousand naira and a bag of rice.

You can blame the politicians for being inadequate and useless when Nigerians spend all their time in churches and mosques asking God to provide.

Nigerians have failed to hold their politicians accountable, so they rule with impunity. Elections are a small part of the democratic process; holding politicians to account is the key part.

How will you hold someone with a gun accountable?

Even if it's striking they will settle some few people and nothing will change in the long term.

Elections were the last chance Nigerians had to change their story and they ruined everything.

Use solar, but get a good electrician to rewire your house to make it easier to switch off heavy equipments from on source. Also try rechargeable fans when you cant use AC

The moral of the story is simple.

Electricity costs money. A lot of money to make and generate. And the problem in Nigeria is that for years we have been refusing to pay the market price for power in this country, instead we are paying subsidised price.

Even when power was privatised (except for transmission), the discos were not allowed to charge market price by the GEJ admin. Buhari took it up a step further and froze power prices for two years. Tinubu has so far refused to deregulate because he wants to get voted back in 4 years time.

Meanwhile, the inevtiable has happened....we are now boasting of getting up to 8000 MW..lol. Lagos...LAGOS...needs at least 10000MW for 24 hour supply to each and every building in that town. What we generate cannot pay for one city to be powered.

If you cannot pay market price for power, or pay for power at all, but bypass your meter to steal power, and chase away DISCO officals who come to disconnect ye, YOU WILL PAY FOR POWER by other means. Here in Nigeria, we pay the true price for power in the large amounts we spend on generators and generating sets and petrol and diesel to power them. Because the god of power won't have it otherwise.

All because we don't want to pay over N100 per kwh...on the grounds that it is 'too expensive'

Well let's keep pretending. The law of power dictates that we would still pay the price for power now how.

Raise small money and install solar. The added beauty is that you can always upgrade the capacity.

Your write up has some lies in it. If you can afford 1 million naira laptops, why can't you afford solar? Don't base your analysis on them say. Even I myself is planning towards solar. My budget is 800K.

I have seen a lot of bet9ja shop using solars. They use 6 solar panels, inverter + two 220ah batter to power all their desktop computers, fans, TVs, decoders and light bulbs for 24/7

I have made enquiry s from these bet shop and online

First Battery 330ah
Second batter 220 with 6 solar panel will carry you 24/7
Battery 220ah

The same nonsensical you vomited is the mindest politicians love. They love when Nigerians are patient and excuse their laziness. The same "be patient" nonsense is what we heard at the polling units when APC rigged their way to power.

I'm trying to understand what laptop you comfortably bought for 1 million naira only to come on nairaland to lament about spending 160K on generator usage monthly.

Sounds like you have the tendency to be wasteful when you can have same satisfaction from spending lesser on alternatives.

My system cost me 370K. I don't own a generator. I have a solar power pack I ordered from New Jersey at a cumulative cost of 175K. It's charged with electricity as well and can keep my gadgets and system powered for 80 hours before the next charge.

I also have a mini solar installation done at 160K that enables me use two fans and bulbs and when electricity comes on, I use my AC.

Everything listed here didn't even cost me up to the amount you wasted to buy a laptop. Sometimes you have to plan according to economic realities.

Pls can tell me abt the solar power pack

change your location sir. there is steady electricity where i am and its this same Nigeria. from Friday through Monday before i left home this morning there was light and as i am even typing this now, there is still light. and once I get home I will still meet the light and continue my work. reason for this is because there is prepaid meter in all there houses, estate, hardly will you see any house without prepaid meter. so what Nepa do is that they supply constant electricity so that loaded units will finish on time
