You don't get compensation for illegal erection of properties.
If anything they should be made to pay for caterpillar fuel ⛽
did government issue C/O on those properties?

Property owners in China who resisted the bulldozing of their properties because of disagreement with the government on the terms of the compensation offered them. Is it possible in Nigeria?
Nigeria remains the jungle that she is.

Nigeria is not China.

Mind you, that house in your post has been demolished since 2012.

What do you mean by illegal?

I'm very sure you haven't built 2x2 toilet before.

Why are you guys this docile?

Before you build anything in a city, you must get approval. No matter what you want to build. Anyone without approval won't even build it to finish before the govt will mark it as unapproved.

Abii na for bush you deey live?
you are reasoning with demons who knows what they are doing.
It gives them joy.
Igbos must look homeward.
From now on,I will not pity any Igbo who suffers loss of property.
There is Owerri, Enugu, abakaliki, asaba, awka, orlu, oguta, nnewi, okigwe ,umuahia, aba to build any type of estate, companies, markets.
With the attendant large market and more than enough purchasing power to have returns in investment in a short time.
We don't beg Hausas to come to Onitsha neither do we beg people to come to nnewi and aba .

Why would govt demolish what they earlier approved without even compensation? Una no get town planning authority for that Lagos?

Is that not wickedness.

Person go suffer hustle, save money and build and you now dictate how they should react after demolishing their property.

Ontop this hardship

Getat

To be sincere those properties demolished won't have genuine Government approval. I am in that industry. Most of the Consultant or Contractors actually don't get genuine approval and when they have one they don't complied with the approved plan.

That is why you don't see any of the property Owners threatening Court action.

The emphasis is on rights of property owners to get compensation.
The position of the house is dangerous to both the house owner and road users and it needs to go but a mutual agreement ought to be made before it is demolished.

When you build house in the wrong area, your house will be demolished legally, no matter how you cry or play victim card.

If you don't like it, go back to your landlocked region where nothing good grows.

I know some yorubas, even many Hausas that their houses are demolished too. But na one particular tribe always play victim.

Imagine the so called wise people that always bought a scammer's land.
So who is going to prosecute the Lagos State government that approved the buildings and initio

Why would the same govt approve the building of the house at initial stage when they know its on the water ways? You can't approve building of a house only to destroy it later.

You mean the government must compensate you for breaking the law?

Go and build your house on top drainage and canals in Abia and get compensated by your Abia governor, just keep your rubbish way of life in your Abia village.

Lagos government gave approval for the building therefore needs to discuss compensation with the owner before any demolition begins. It is as simple as ABCD.

Beremx hope you can see reason why many people see the demolition as targeting.
what is targeting there.

Everytime there is demolition in Lagos, it's igbos that wail.

Na only Igbos dey build houses in Lagos?

Dem use victim cry swear for una? There are literally over 300 tribes in Lagos including foreigners, but it's Igbo that must wail.

No other tribe is building house in Lagos it's only igbos.

If they leave everybody to be building anything anywhere they like, are you not the same awful people that will come and tell us how Lagos is disorganized?

If Lagos is too hot for you, go to Abuja or go back to your state na.

There is a global C of O on that part of Lekki

They claimed they built on setbacks.

Where was the monitoring team during construction?
Why wait till they finished building before coming to tear the properties down by claiming part of it was built on the setbacks for drainage?

Hopefully they get compensated.

How old are you again?

I feel sorry for the guy

Lagos Government should try to help him
He represented Nigeria in many International matches

The Lagos Government should not wait till people finish building before telling them they built in the Wrong place

That should be done before they even complete the foundation

If he is confident he has the Lagos Government building Permission then he can go to Court and recover compensation

Who approved those locations to be built upon?

Should incase you don't know, land owners pays for site analysis first before approval applications are made.
Who approved those structures to be built?

All this could have been prevented if the approval agents were diligent in their service to the Lagosians.

To be honest with you

Very often the monitoring teams show up to tell them but Nigerians will stubbornly usually try to Bribe their way out of it only to create a bigger problem for themselves after completing the building

That happened many times with TB Joshua's building that collapsed and killed over 100 People
And the Tower building that collapsed in Ikoyi

Do not assume they came to monitor.

And what if they came and were to be bribed, why did they not reject the bribe so as to do their job?

I rather not work with assumptions
