Do not assume they came to monitor.

And what if they came and were to be bribed, why did they not reject the bribe so as to do their job?

I rather not work with assumptions

It happens all the time in Lagos
The LASG Building enforcement agents go around giving warnings but most people try to Bribe their way out of the Problem

Sentiments aside.. most of the houses in Lagos need to go down. Too many buildings on water prone areas and drainage channels, outside the State master plan.

It's not by force to live in Lagos.. some people don't mind getting swept inside the ocean all in the name of living in Lagos.

Victim mentality

Lagos has a master plan that dates back military era

Lagos has designated water ways and erosion path

Igbos and all tribe work at Alausa and Ministry of Land and housing

.

It is pettiness to tribalize things as though Yoruba and other tribes were not affected.

If he believes his property documents are certified by Lagos state, then he should head to court and request damages. Perhaps, it could build up to a class action suit.

House demolition: Igbos are in trouble, this is pure wickedness โ€“ Footballer Emenike blasts Lagos State govt
WithinnigeriaOct 16, 2023 9:33 AM

The wails and woes of numerous homeowners in Lagos echoed far and wide as they witnessed the bulldozing of their properties by the Lagos state government. This drastic measure was attributed to the persistent woes of erosion and flooding in the area. Emenike is seething with anger at Sanwo-olu's administration and is vehemently urging the afflicted Igbo residents to hightail it back home and sow the seeds of their investments there.
House demolition: Igbos are in trouble, this is pure wickedness โ€“ Footballer Emenike blasts Lagos State govt
Emenike, the retired Nigerian footballer, has lit up social media with a scorching critique of the Lagos State government.
He alleges that theyโ€™ve torn down the properties of Igbo residents in the state, despite these individuals having the governmentโ€™s nod when they laid the foundation for these million-dollar dreams.
Former Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Emenike, is raising a ruckus over the bulldozer blitz executed by the Lagos State government, leaving some Igbo residents in the state high and dry.

Last week, the Lagos State government commenced the demolition exercise of illegal structures built on canals and waterways along the Gedegede โ€“ Mobil road โ€“ Megamound Estate โ€“ Ikota drainage channels.

The Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources noted a need to implement the demolition exercise to stop the reoccurring erosion and flooding in the environment.

Multimillion naira properties were brought down during the demolition exercise supervised by the Operatives Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

Emenike, responding passionately and sharing a vivid image of the demolished property on his Instagram story, expressed his deep empathy for the profound sadness experienced by the affected individuals.

He asserted that they had secured approval from the very Lagos State Government that ultimately razed their properties to the ground.

Emenike didnโ€™t hold back, characterizing this action as a glaring example of wickedness in its purest form.

With genuine concern for his fellow Igbo brethren living in the state, he offered prudent advice, encouraging them to repatriate their investments to the safety of their eastern roots, specifically naming states like Abia, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi as secure destinations.

He wrote;

โ€œTHE SADNESS IS TOO MUCH AFTER GETTING APPROVAL FROM THE SAME LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT, THIS IS PURE WICKEDNESS.

โ€œIGBOS ARE IN TROUBLE, BRING YOUR INVESTMENT BACK HOME MY PEOPLE WE HAVE, ABIA STATE, IMO STATE, ANAMBRA STATE, ENUGUSTATE AND EBONYI STATE.โ€

Those Igbo ingrates , all their properties must be demolished after all na drug money Dem take build Dem. F**Lish set of people, they think say dem get brain. they are all oponus!!! of this world

There is no approval from the Lagos State government or else the State won't order their demolition.

Go to court if you have any valid approval for the building demolished instead of coming to social media and rants.

And they are correcting it by bringing down those illegal structures.

Omonile fees are not state approval .

Go to court if you have valid documents.

Lagos state will not only be forced to pay for the cost of the property but also other compensation arising from the stress of having ones house demolished.

But we both know this will never happen as they do not posses a single government title and building approval document.

I can tell you for a fact that if Emenike has an "approval",he will not come to social media to fight. He will be in court! Na why he chose the loose word "approval".
I've been involved in this kind of processes in Lagos to know better.

There is a global C of O on that part of Lekki

They claimed they built on setbacks.

Where was the monitoring team during construction?
Why wait till they finished building before coming to tear the properties down by claiming part of it was built on the setbacks for drainage?

Hopefully they get compensated.

So you will rather start building before securing approval .

And you expect LASG to be monitoring you like kindergarten children in the playground and stepping in to prevent you from building further?

Lagos state no get time for that rubbish since they know you will still stubbornly continue building despite every warning telling you to stop work.

LASG has now decided to make sure you finish the building , move in and feel comfortable before moving their caterpillars to site.

Next time you will engage professional estate lawyers.

This is your only defense.

Lagos state knows that issuing stop work and demolition notices will only see them being dragged to court by the erring developer.

Lagos state has no time or resources to waste in a prolonged court case that only seeks to buy time for the errant "developer".

Now they will allow you build to completion and then watch you move in and settle down before sending bulldozers your way.
