May we know the name of your inverter and was the temperature setting at 16'C?
it was set at 25 degrees, the AC is not on inverter yet.... Am just saying the energy consumption was low enough for me to want to run it from inverter later

I get what you mean about the calibration but that isn't what is at play here. The CC maintains the set 27.6V for some time but "losses" the setting later and begins to output over 30V. It wasn't like that initially and when I noticed it, I also thought it might be due to voltage drop along the battery cable but after several checks and attempts to calibrate what I realised was that the CC was actually "forgetting" the set voltage. Feat didn't allow me to use the CC since then.

To process to save settings on the powmr CC is first to cut off power from the panels first through Ur isolation switch, then you make the changes to the settings, after which to save the settings, you must now disconnect power from the battery to the CC, so the CC goes off completely. Allow it to be off for 10secs, then switch on power from the battery first and next switch on power from your panels.

Be mindful that if you miss any of the steps, you will lose your settings and the CC will return to the default lead acid battery profile.

NB: If you followed this process and you still lose your settings memory, then you might have a faulty device. Cheers....

Same here I stopped using the CC.
I notices if the battery is low, it charges normally but once it's full it starts going over.
I actually planned to get another cc to test but this confirms it.
What type of Lithium battery do you have?

it is probably from the socket outlet

a socket outlet is meant to be rated for 13A, but a large number of socket outlets sold around and installed by electricians can only carry 5A or less. The usual imitation problem. this is why in most homes sockets in kitchens or where kettle are connected to keep having issues.

you want to buy an original confirmed socket outlet - MEM, ABB, MK, Legrand or Schneider

sometime last year i bought some original socket outlets and the IRONY is that they cost less than the nonsense sold by electrical shops

for electrical it is best to directly source from known manufacturers. there is a lot of corner cutting in electrical materials .

you can also ask for genuine ABB plugs

Thank you very much

Hello house,

I tracked down a wire burning smell to the electrical plug adaptor that my inverter is charged by the mains.

I then touched it, and it was hot so hot it could burn if the fingers were left there for a considerable length of time.

What is the best way to resolve this issue?
replace the socket/plug with a 100A knife switch in between.

nothing is wrong with your CC bro. the bms is simply limiting the charge amps coming into the battery., thats why the voltage jump. increase in the charging amps settings or replace with a higher rating BMS

I actually went through the process you described but I'd try it again when next I'm at the location.

It's a 24v DIY pack I built some years ago with a 250a Daly BMS.

As per the process, like I earlier said; if u miss a step or in too much of a hurry, everything will reset. Take Ur time and try it again. Also Valto made a valid point, you can also increase the charging amps of the BMS in the battery pack, cos if the BMS disconnects whilst battery is charging, it definitely will reset all parameters.

Hope this helps..

I am highly convinced this is due to the numerous fake 13A socket sold.

I went to purchase some electricals yesterday, this includes two original A & B tech 13A socket.

During purchase I asked the man to tell list of various prices, it ranges from (400, 600, 800 & 1000) respectively.

I went for the highest they have 1000(A & B tech), because it will be installed in Electric Hot Plate location.

I believe most naija would go for 400 category.

Also bought two 2P 100A Knife Switch (I already have two A & Bt quality change over installed but these are for my solar project) they brought these categories 1500(Orange color), 2000, 4000, 5000 & 6000 respectively.

The 5000 is good but rated 380v, while the 6000(D & GT) is better and rated for 600v, I went for 6000 category.

Most Nigerians would go for the regular orange color (1500).

Most times it's better to buy once and forget about buying in the nearest future.

Meanwhile am still looking for good 5kva hybrid/non-hybrid transformer based inverter with Idle consumption less than 50w, efficiency up to 90%, AC charging current b/w 40-60A and less than 450k.

Hello sir

Pls can you advise which is the better of the PowMr and Yakoha mppt charge controllers? I want to get for a new 5kva Felicity inverter system.

bassdow:

I would be brief because I'm out of time and need get back to work.

Size of cable / wire doesn't necessarily affect current draw much. using properly sized cables is better to avoid wastes of current in form of heat (the wire go dey warm/hot). In fact, my guide is - the Wire is NEVER too thick AS the Thicker, the better.

As for increasing the size of solar panels, if you could afford such, please do because again to me, Solar panels IS NEVER too much. If excess, then less stress is on the batteries during sunny hours.

As for your pumping machine, what exactly are you doing with 2HP pumping machine ? In most residential houses, 0.75HP (less stress for solar system) and 1HP (equally less stress for solar system + PUMPs faster than 0.75HP) is often enough.
I'm sorry but I'm in a hurry to reason so make I allow others add theirs.

in your case, would suggest you increase THICKness of the wire, and also increase size of your Solar panels.

Reason to increase Wire thickness: When you increase thickness of the wire, or can confirm that when it's working, the Wires are not Warm / Hot, then you have eliminated WASTEs and reduced chances of fire accidents.

Reason to add More Solar Panels: With more panels, you get more Voltage and/or Current, hence during sunny hours (during the day), there would be less stress/demands on your battery bank. of course during cloudy annd rainy days, you have lless worries.
Now please ensure you always use MPPT charge controller when ever thhe Size of your Solar panels is much excess relative to battery bank. This is because with PWM, the difference mostly is wasted in form of HEAT, but when paired with a good quality MPPT, those differences ain't just burnt as heat, but converted and fed into the battery. For ma eye, I see PWM as a simple resistor circuit.

Okay. Another one to look at also is the XtraPower LF Series Hybrid Inverter XTLFH1-6KW

However, it has a lower power efficiency rating 85% and no data on idle consumption. But it has local support and warranty.

Pls can you advise which is the better of the PowMr and Yakoha mppt charge controllers? I want to get for a new 5kva Felicity inverter system.

Personally, I've only ever bought and used Victron , MorningStar and epEver MPPT charge controllers.
unLike most people in here, I am not a full-Time solar installer / seller. in Fact solar business don't pay my bills.

I'm more of a personal user, and when I take on installation jobs, it's often due to referrals or because someone whom I suggested they go solar choose me to handle things. Reason you hardly would see me advertise anything.
Other times, they buy and ask I help do installation, hence whatever they end up buying, it's their choice.

I run solar 24/7/365 days and have no alternatives, not even a small fossil generator. Most times, when I run into those who ain't willing to spend much for whatever reason, I just suggest they buy a lower AMP rating of any of the above or just use PWM for the time being.

I'm sorry I couldn't help make a choice between PowMr and Yakoha since I've never used it personally or for clients, though a quick online search portrays them as low quality.

Just so you know, epEver is much cheaper than Victron and MorningStar.

that the words MPPT is written on it, doesn't necessarily mean it's one. Who knows, it just might be a glorified PWM
