When next I pass Ochanja, I will snap the prototype of the project. From Ochanja Roundabout to Main Market is a single lane. I will have to see what they are going to do from Ochanja to IzuChukwu Park.

This will add capacity to our lovely airport.

Departure on the first floor can still see the planes from outside the windows, whilst waiting to board.

Arrivals on the top floor cannot enjoy the views of the plane.

If it is true that Soludo is constructing Iweka road as a single lane, then it is confirmation that he is truely a mediocre and clueless. Iweka road is wide enough to be a boulevard with at least 8 lanes. Onitsha is a major city in not just Anambra but Igboland in general and needs to be spiced up. Limca/old road is another thoroughfare that needs widening. It has ample space and don't require demolitions. If it is not Soludo, it has to be his commissioner for works who is sabotaging his government with these substandard road constructions that don't inspire any hope of urban revival that Soludo promised. Just look at Club road in Awka that should have been dualized, it was done like a village road. If Soludo doesn't have the passion for Anambra, he should just tarry till 2025 and hand over to someone with passion instead of constructing rubbish as roads. If he can't dualize major roads in the state, let him just leave them like that till the next government takes over.

He Anambra State Government through Operation Keep Clean and Healthy (Ocha Brigade) has arrested no fewer than 30 street hawkers and shut over 100 shops in the state for environmental offences.

The Managing Director of Ocha Brigade, Mr Celestine Anere, on Thursday, disclosed that the offenders violated hawking and trading laws of the state at the popular Eke Awka market in Awka.

Anere, who led the operation, said the state government would no longer tolerate street traders who blocked roads and shop owners who keep their environment dirty.

He said, “We are here to decongest streets and stop hawkers and traders from blocking access roads. We are tired of begging them not to trade on the main roads.

The state government should be requiring all businesses located along major roads to pay the monthly sanitation fee and then desilt the drains on a monthly basis. There are literally hundreds of shops on Zik Avenue, Oby okoli, club road etc.

They should seize the wheelbarrows of street hawkers since that is what they now use as their shop.

So you people later renamed Abakaliki road in Awka to Club road but every tiny village in Anambra has a street named after it in Abakaliki Town?
Jap Okolo from Orumba has been commissioner, special adviser, house of assembly member in Ebonyi.
Ifeanyi Ikeh from Oraukwu has been commissioner and special adviser too.
The last commissioner for youth and sports was an Anambra man.
Enyi Onwuegbuna and plenty others have been councillors etc.

Nwanne, I see the bigger picture and many of you see the now.

If i reason like many of you, u see that airport in Enugu, na for Anambra them for build am.

Truth is selfishness and development dont go together.

It is mutually beneficial to develop everywhere together.

Let me break it down for u.

If the SE region is dotted with airports, it means easy access for investors from other parts of the world.

The airports alone create an emerging middle-class of white collar workers(those that work there and for airlines) in the east.

Creating opportunity for people in the SE there, not formerly available.

Soon, you build aviation schools to train pilots, hotels will spring up everywhere, real estate, leisure economy and business districts etc.

Rather than mass migration out, you get a reverse migration into SE.

People from all over Nigeria and the world will migrate to SE, that will in turn increase demand for air travel, real estate development, trade and commerce.

If you build they will come but if we go by many of your logic and not build, nothing will ever happen in SE.

So, stop being selfish and at least allow your Brother state to benefit and enjoy what you are enjoying.

Encourage them to do their best and build something.

Stop spew nonsense. The quality of roads being built are of high standards. There are so many roads being dualised and major urban renewal is is ongoing in Awka and Onitsha and indeed almost everywhere in Anambra. Awka is the fastest developing city in igboland. Anambra is among the top five fastest developing states in Nigeria

Anambra people are like American investors that came to invest to uplift you guys from poverty that’s ravaging ebonyi . So all those streets in abakaleke named after Anambra towns are not for nothing, they must have added something meaningful to that community, but what has ebonyi brought to any community where they live in other states ? Nothing. It’s either they are constituting nuisance or they are littering everywhere with their hawking. The change of name was very timely. We don’t want nonsense in Anambra

The reason igbo people keep leaving SE in search of greener pastures in other regions /countries is because the Blockade that started during the Biafra war was not completely lifted.

It is because of Ndiigbo economic blockade that they develop itemised list of things State will require Federal approval to do.

The SW became a monopoly for Seaport and Airport, if you want to travel out, you first travel to Lagos.

Because of that, any talk of Airport in SE, the loudest voice of opposition were Yoruba's and I know many of you remember what they did to Stella Oduah.

Till this day, all the Federal built deep seaport are in Lagos.

The most shocking part of it all is that, our Igbo brothers are now trying to enforce the same economic blockade against their fellow igbo brothers shamelessly.

I will never stop calling on Abia state to build an international Airport or have such aspirations, in addition to their Seaport dreams.

I think he is 100% correct! The problem is that most Igbo people are so reactionary by nature, unlike the rest of the country! You think Fulanis are stupid, why are they funding the largest islamic school in Ebonyi state! why did they not go and site in Nnewi? The Enugu airport is almost completed ! what is holding its completion? South west got a spanking new Lagos /Ibadan rail line, the north got Abuja /Kaduna rail line.........meanwhile the dysfunctional Port harcourt / Enugu line has been dismantled 100% .....so for the first time in 100 years ,no rail line passes Alaigbo!

I do not know who put us into this kind of " Deep Sleep" !!...............Why are we complicit in our own demise! It's truely uncanny to observe the phenomenon! Kudos to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for at least sensitizing our people!

Exactly!

Our people ignore the MAIN PROBLEM and keep chasing shadows. If Nigeria were restructured in a way that allows each region to pursue its own development without first getting approval from the FG, even individuals would build these key facilities if the state government didn't.

But the elephant in the room is that NOBODY is allowed to build any key infrastructure in any region UNLESS the FG first approves it. Of course, we know that the FG will never approve any infrastructure in the southeast region that will make the region truly progress. That is the main problem that should be addressed before talking about why these infrastructures were not in the budget of SE state governments after the FG refused to build them in SE as they did for other regions.

Truth be told, Gov. Soludo is doing his best to transform Anambra cities from near slums into some of the best liveable cities in Nigeria. Yes, he does not have too much money to do everything that needs to be done or to use Julius Berger to do it, but you can clearly see his vision in re-designing and re-making Anambra key cities into well-deserved modern urban centers.

My only prayer for Gov. Soludo is to stay the course and continue close supervision to ensure that the contractors meet the stated goals. He will be the greatest Anambra Governor if he manages to achieve liveable urban centers in Anambra cities that had hitherto been known to be very very poorly planned and suffocatingly congested with illegal street markets everywhere. Especially along the few tarred roads within those cities.
