MASTERCHIEF0847: It's really not about the oil price boom after all Ameachi ensured him and his Goons Devoured the Excess Crude account which GEJ tried to save for a day like this That' been said GEJ had better managers Sanusi Ngozi Nebo etc Made sure dey coordinate the Economy |

Kukutente23: You are a liar. Sanusi never lied. He was proved right! The $20bilion that was missing was confirmed by both PWC and the Senate committee. Jonathan was also a mess in his time. He brought in Emefiele as CBN governor.... now see what Emefiele has done and the clueless Tinubu with his useless policies too. 1 Like |

Angelfrost:But it's the truth. On average, revenues to Jonathan yearly was above 70 Billion dollars. By the time of Buhari in 2016, it was down to around 25 Billion dollars caused by Niger Delta Avengers and lower oil prices globally. There was always going to be an impact. |

nairalanda1: She forsee everything. It was in obasanjo time that she champion excess crude account stuff. She also champion the TSA It was like Nigeria economy was at her palm. She has strong link inside the imf and world bank yet she didn't dance to their tune. |
Re: How Was Jonathan Able To Manage Nigeria Economy by Angelfrost(m): 12:28pm On Oct 20, 2023 |
GeneralDae: Yeah... But that doesn't excuse his poor management of an economy in crisis. The Bible talks about he that is faithful in little...! The key word of the day and thread is "Manage"! Buhari failed to manage a gradually deteriorating situation, and succeeded in pushing the nation further into the economic abyss. 1 Like |

kenex4ever:Jonathan had oil production at around 2.5 million barrels per day compared to the present 1.4 million bpd. Obasanjo and Yar adua left him 22 Billion dollars in excess crude account and he also had the highest oil prices ever in our history, yet he depleted foreign reserves from 44 Billion dollars to 28 Billion dollars. Depleted Excess crude account from 22 Billion dollars to 2 Billion dollars and increased our debt from 35 Billion dollars to 67 Billion dollars. 1 Like |

qwertyuioplm: He was the most capitalist of the three PDP presidents, and he was not a big headed, egoistic , who pretends to be all knowing like Obasanjo, so that his cabinet of technocrats could be free to work with their own ideas. Yar’Adua was a clueless communist like his fellow Katsina state man Buhari. Unfortunately, Jonathan was truly clueless about our geopolitics, hence why he couldn’t win reelection. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

NzogbuNzogbu: Ha ha ha. They want to control proceeds from crude oil in the Niger delta region, to further develop their region, and entertain themselves with their music: the SE region is village and erosion ravaged, the SS people are ogogoro drinkers and clueless people. That's all about their struggles for Tinubu must rule struggle. |

nairalanda1:I totally disagree with your point. Countries like UAE, Qatar, and the likes do import almost all their consumables, but they are not bad as Nigeria. It's all about planning, savings and savings. Issue of export may not necessarily come up if there is a conducive environment to consume what we produce. |

Everything in life is about the base. Obasanjo created the base to excel for them. He cleared the debt, created substantial external reserve which provided backing for the exchange rate. Jonathan depleted the reserves, increase debt, corruption etc. But now, the debts is so huge that it takes 95% of our income to service, he cleared the reserves totally, took corruption to a new height which have jointly constituted a clog for the new government. |
Re: How Was Jonathan Able To Manage Nigeria Economy by sonofthunder: 12:40pm On Oct 20, 2023 |
qwertyuioplm: Jonathan did not manage economy. Oil prices where high and oil theft was low so money was coming in. But it was already collapsing due to poor policies. Emefiele did a good job to help destroy anything left. Despite the money from oil export, our economy experienced marginally low growth until Jonathan threatened IMF/World bank that he has done cassava bread and other rubbish so they should change their report He did little to no reasonable investments except maybe for the New Federal universities, and the presidential scholarship schemes which to me is a failure because 95% of the people who got the scholarships ran out of the country with our money and have no plans to return with said knowledge. We shouldn't decieve ourselves, all our presidents from 1999 to date have been failures. Maybe small exemption for Obasanjo but he should have done more. Yar A' Dua we keep claiming would have made a good president but I doubted that. His reversal of refinery sale gave room for money to be stolen via TAM maintenance under Jonathan and Buhari first tenure by so called cabals. 1 Like |

MASTERCHIEF0847: Crude oil prices and revenue were not highest during Jonathan’s 2010-2015 administration. Buhari and Tinubu’s APC are not capitalists. They are pseudo progressive socialists who share money to people who are not working, thereby destroying the economy. |

Pakute: Did GEJ experience recession? Are you kidding me? Is recession not the product of a county's economic policies and activities? Why make is sound as if it is something that falls from the sky once in a few years? GEJ continued the Amnesty program laid down by President Umar Musa Yar' Adua. Why would he experience pipeline vandalism? Did Buhari and Emilokan experience Ebola? A disease far worse and more communicable than COVID which never really affected Africans. Its on record that most of the dust raised over COVID in Nigeria was audio, with the government cashing out massively using the school feeding programme and vulnerable households talks as well as witholding donations in cash and foodstuffs. What the heck concerns Nigeria with Ukraine/Russia war? Una go make excuses for everything. 1 Like |
