Let me explain to people willing to come to the UK and this will be the pure truth.

1. Please don't come to THE UK without the right to work cos you will most likely be frustrated cos you will be exploited by landlords, wicked employers and even people who may promise you settlement by association.

2. If you come with a right to work please don't be picky for a start cos you actually need certification to get almost any job in the UK so be ready to see the one you see at the begining and move up from there.

3. Do not do pass your power. NHS is free and you don't have to go through waiting time(I won't discuss how here)

4. Because you can do as many jobs as possible just try to work to the point of making at least 1500 after tax (very possible)

5. If you live in London which is presumed to be the most exp city, you can still manage yourself by...

*Get a shared apartment with all bills inclusive for not more than 500 and make sure it is all bills inclusive meaning your monthly gas, water, electricity, WiFi, council tax fees are all included.

*Don't spend more than 200 to feed

*Get an affordable phone Internet subscription for 15

*Get a pay as you go oyster card for transportation and the maximum you could spend is 150

*Set aside 150 for misc.

You will still have savings of £415

Now remember you can actually earn far above 1500 after tax. So the more you earn the more you upgrade and you can also do side biz.

This is for a single person.

Walk your way up from this point.

Now the misconception is about the high price of rent but let me break it down once again.

In the UK, you live very quality life that people buy in Nigeria.

What is the cost of uninterrupted electricity in Nigeria?

What is the cost of one month cooking gas in Nigeria?

For those working and earning 2M and above, it no longer makes sense.

Some people who were earning large in Naija 10-12 yrs ago, like the oil boys have seen their Naira earnings increase but the real value decreased geometrically.

Imagine if you were earning 1.65M per annum in 2011, that was $10,000, but today even if you got promoted 3 times and are now earning say 4M/year, that is now $ 3,333. You have essentially lost 70% of your earnings. Same is happening to pensions. By the time you retire, your pension contributions would be worthless.

Let me break it down.

A single Nigerian lady who is legal in the UK and works full-time as a children residential support worker (basically a professional parent). She works Tues morning from 8a.m to 9p.m earning £144 for that shift with free meals, then from 9p.m when the waking night staff has taken over from her. she goes in to the designated room in the house to sleep and she is paid another £56 for sleeping in there as she will be a backup should there be an emergency during the night shift.

She wakes up Wednesday morning, baths, have breakfast and resume work in the house at 8a.m repeats the same circle of the previous day, then Thursday she works from 8a.m to 9p,m and she leaves the house for her home......earning her £544 for the week, expected to show again up next week Tuesday....her gross pay at the end of the month will be £2,176.

She is free on Fridays, Saturdays, Sunday and Mondays......she decides to work for an agency on Saturdays, doing a 12hrs shift at £17/per hour and that is £204 every Saturday and 4 Saturdays is £816.

Combined is £2,992, after the deduction of National Insurance, Income Tax and pension...should be going home with at least £2,300 per month.

She pays rent for £500 (bills inclusive), transport for both work and leisure at £150, groceries and toiletries at £150, phone and Netflix subscription for £35, clothing and footwears £200, hairdo £50, other miscellaneous expenses £100.

Will she not save comfortably?

1. Inflation: Inflation is a wealth killer. Inflation at 25% (officially) has killed most people's income. In fact nigerians are spending their future.
2. Currency devaluation: You save all your life all to become poorer with no notice, due to government's badly thought-out policy.
3. Economic mismanagement: The economic mismanagement has no end in sight. Corruption is a cancer. for your info 99% of our elites have their wealth in dollars. Na poor folks just dey suffer - and they don't even know it.
