Court Orders PDP To Replace Anyanwu As National Secretary by Thonyboy: 7:00am On Oct 24, 2023
A High Court sitting in Enugu State has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to replace Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary.

Anyanwu is the PDP governorship candidate for the forthcoming election in Imo State.

The order was granted while ruling in a motion on notice filed by Nwabueze Ugwu seeking the court to declare Senator Anyanwu’s seat vacant.

The court compelled the defendants in the suit- the PDP National Chairman, the PDP National Secretary and the National Vice Chairman, South-East to recognise Sunday Udeh-Okoye as candidate recommended by the South-East Zonal Executive Committee to replace Anyanwu pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The presiding judge, Justice C.O Ajah held that the motion on notice was brought under order 38 rule 1, order 39 rule 1 of High Court rules of Enugu State 2020, supported by 23-paragraph affidavits deposed to by the applicant.

Justice Ajah ordered as follows:

“That an Interim Order is hereby granted as prayed.

“That the 2 Defendant/Respondent is hereby ordered to recognize within 24 hours of the service of this order on him, HON. S.K.E. UDEH-OKOYE (the person recommended by the South East Zonal Executive Committee of the 1” Defendant /Respondent; pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

That this Order will lapse after seven (7) days from today in accordance with the Rules of this Court.

“That the matter is adjourned to 30/10/2023 for the hearing of the Motion on Notice.”

.ng recalls that the PDP, South-East zone, had last weekend, unanimously nominated the former PDP National Youth Leader, Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the new party National Secretary.

The party’s National Vice Chairman, South-East Zone, Chief Ali Odefa, who read a communique after the meeting, had explained that the decision was to allow Senator Anyanwu concentrate on his electioneering campaign in Imo State.

Nigeria courts seem to be the biggest problem in this so called democracy. Look at them causing problem up and down with conflicting electoral judgements. Tribunal will say A Appeal court will say B, the same constitution different interpretation. Thieves

Can you be holding an executive position in a party and contesting for a Gubernatorial position?

Let his opponents go to court and seek his disqualification

That is a Nigerian mind. Did it need court order to compel Senator Anyanwu to step down as an official of his party after picking Imo Guber form? Or was he reserving that sit as plan B should his election go south? Guess he would appeal that - let's watch!!

What is Executive about holding secretarial position in a political party?? But the same useless country and constitution allows a sitting senator to retain his seat and go contest for governorship election and when he loses, he goes back and continue his legislative functions. Until this constitution is stopped, Nigeria will never make progress

Pdp should rebrand and become a relevant party.
The party need competent national chairman to lead them to success.
Sowore has capacity to guide the party to success as national chairman.

What the hell is wrong with Sen.SamDaddy Anyawu and PDP?
You became senator, National Secretary and gubernatorial candidate only you?
You don't want to relinquish the post of National Secretary, so as to concentrate on your campaigns to be the governor of Imo State.
With what is on ground, he knew he can't win, so he wants a fall back after the election.
This is Wike's permutation.
But Sam Daddy, you must leave that National Secretary position.
