Water level at our hydro dams is high. It's usual at this time of the year since GEJ's tenure. What has Thiefņubu done exactly to improve power? Obviously, nothing yet. . 17 Likes 1 Share |

Shikini: Very true. The fact is, unless we are generating at least, by my reckoning, 50000mw, we can't have sustainable power supply. 13 Likes |

This is the reason Nigeria is not getting better. The government are not holistic. Once it favours you, you applaud them, but you forgot other parts of the country are in darkness. Why not voice out for the whole country rather than just a particular area in a country? 9 Likes |

sukkot: It's going to take a long time before we see sustained power supply in Nigeria. Right now, we are at 5000MW...maybe 7500MW...on a good day. We have an installed capacity of 14000MW and can transmit around 8000MW. Siemens should take that to 25000MW. Now , as at ten years ago, someone said on an online platform (234Next Nigerian news)..that Lagos city needs 10000mw of power for 24 hours supply. If you are getting 24/7 power supply, (or 20 hours)...you live in a Grade A power supply area. There are people who live in grade C and D that get less than 12 hours a day, some even much lower than that...then there are many people out in the bush villages who get zero power from the mains supply (unless they are lucky to get off grid power either from the REA or from private sources). Anyone boasting that power has improved should know that we have eons to go before we can even say it has improved. SA has 46000Mw and has blackouts self. 16 Likes |

Light78: This is what most don't know. Just like the person below you explained, people along Grade A get constant electricity even more than 48 hours many time. Meanwhile, they're some who don't even get up to 6 hours or even less. I remember the area I stay during GEJ, we have unstoppable light which means in a week the light might just go off like 20-30mins and it will be restored. So does that mean those who voted GEJ out didn't see the good thing GEJ was doing that time? Well, I do say to myself then that, despite enjoying so much light now I know many places are in darkness. because I know what Nigeria generates and distributes isn't enough for 5 states in Nigeria to have 247 constant electricity not to talk about 36 states and FCT. 4 Likes 1 Share |

sukkot: 1.I'm not an nne. 2.But on a more serious note...even if we stopped exporting, we still won't have enough power. Right now, as at 2021, we sell only 6% of the power we generate to other West African countries. The Discos state that if we want 24 hour power supply, we would need to generate 33000MW tops. (And to be honest, I think that is an underestimate). 12 Likes |

sukkot: It's going to cost a lot of money, and for me the argument is where we have to get the money to improve generation. The problems with liqudity ie cash were enumerated in a report by PwC in 2019. Basically as the above report implies, and as other experts have said , the DISCOS have to be freed to set their prices, and government should stop subsides. Also, leakages, mismanagement and corruption has to be dealt with. At least DISCOS and GENCOS have been privatized, the thing is, they have to be freed to make a profit. 13 Likes 1 Share |

sukkot: No, am in Nigeria. (Been following this issue ever since the 2014 disco genco things....) Government needs to improve revenue, and diversify the economy, but, as was done for GSM(where MTN and ECONET intitally set wild prices, and people paid a lot for service that was sometimes bad, but eventually enabled them to make a profit to make improvements and attract more money), part of the solution is coming from the pocket. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Ignorance 101. Nigeria is generating below 5,000 megawatts and you want to appreciate Tinubu? You guys should stop disgracing yourselves. Even if you personally enjoy 24/7 electricity, common sense should tell you that majority can't be enjoying like you because there's no way 5,000 megawatts can be adequate for 180 million Nigerians 4 Likes 1 Share |

Shikini: Nigeria’s problem is usually with transmission and distribution. Not power generation. The transmission and distribution infrastructure needs revamping or overhaul in some cases |
