As Arase Laments Lack Of Interest Of S’East Youths

Kaduna State is currently leading in the number of applications already received as at day 9 in the ongoing recruitment exercise for General Duty Constables into the Nigeria Police Force.

A press statement on Wednesday signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations stated that 20,259 Kaduna State youths have already completed the online applications to lead the table while Anambra State leads from behind with only 541 applications.

Following Kaduna State at the top are Adamawa State with 18,933 applications, Borno State with 18,305; Bauchi State, 16,554; Katsina State, 16,232 and Kano State has 15,888 applicants.

Next to Anambra State from the rear are; Ebonyi State, 737; Abia State, 966 and Imo State 999. Bayelsa State has 1020; Enugu State, 1036; Lagos State, 1259; Delta State 1338 and Edo State has 1526 applicants.

Meanwhile 242, 391 males have already completed their applications while only 35,405 females have registered their presence.

Dr. Solomon Arase, retired Inspector General of Police and the Chairman of the Commission, has expressed concern in the continued disinterest of South East youths in pursuing a career in the Nigeria Police Force.

Dr. Arase noted that the South East, currently a hot bed for non-state actors’ rebellion in the country should have been in the forefront to join the Nigeria Police Force and bring indigenous solution to the menace.

He called on the leadership of the zone to find a way of convincing its youths to embrace the opportunity the ongoing recruitment has provided.

The PSC Chairman said it will be difficult for anybody to listen to cries of marginalisation from leaders of the zone if they choose to remain indifferent to Government’s generous decision to offer employments to Nigerian youths into the Police Force.

He said they should maximise the remaining five weeks open for their youths to get into the train.

They won’t join police to help safeguard their own people but would be the first to shout against the northerners or westerners policing them

Where did they find 541 ANAMBRA persons to recruit?
Maybe these are non-indigenes who claim to be from Anambra. They should check them well.

Dr. Arase noted that the South East, currently a hot bed for non-state actors’ rebellion in the country should have been in the forefront to join the Nigeria Police Force and bring indigenous solution to the menace.
Mr Arase, you should bother yourself with finding out why youths of a particular ethnic region now abhor joining state institutions like the police and armed forces which is a key test of patriotism in saner clime.

Youths rejecting armed forces job is dangerous to the armed forces itself especially when they are heeding a call by a separatist group to so.

Wait until ESN starts recruitment there and you'll see tens of thousands queuing up even without getting paid.

I've never seen them inform southeast that they're short of their quota in NNPC, CBN, Air force, Ministry of finance, Custom, NCS, DSS, NIA, Judiciary.

South East don't have a single representative in the Supreme court as at today, they are all retired or dead, replacement has become too difficult for the president. NJC rule stipulates at least 3 Judges from each zone.

This is a perfect pointer to the poverty level in the regions.
The poorer the state, the higher the number of youths willing to join Nigerian police.

The truth remains that the average South East youth makes the annual salary of a policeman in one week.

If 200,000 southeasterners applied, only 200 would have been taken. But if 200,000 Northeasterner or northwesterners applied, 185,000 would get the job.
We all know the tribal politics that comes to play in every facet of this evil matrimony.

Why should they bother applying when they stand a 99% chance of rejection

Interest in joining the security agencies has drop in the north too and most countries in the world.

The complaints is that most of those who joined the military and retired, got back home to become nuisance to their communities and with no cogent productive skill learnt in the armed forces for 35 years apart from how to kill. Most are left to families to live with their untreated severe PTSD. So it's becoming less fashionable to join the forces in most countries. One killed the former Japanese PM and one in US killed 22 people and injured almost 100 people yesterday. Check my signature for free stuffs!
