Apart from Victor Boniface (UEL) and Gift Orban (UECL), other Naija lads got on the scoresheet in the Europa League. David Ankeye bagged one for FC Sheriff continuing his goals form from the weekend. Moses Usor scored for LASK in their 2-1 loss away at Royal USG. Tobias Okiki Lawal kept goal for LASK for all 90. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

ChrisKels: I am not being emotional or sentimental. But if National team selection is based on club form, I think Ogbu should be ahead of many others. If we are talking of AFCON, a tournament of African opponents, we must not make mistake of parading a defence line of over 80% foreign bred. That is the difference in Keshi's AFCON success and Eguavoen's failure. BTW, I'm not entirely new to this forum, but I really can't stand some personal attacks meted out from non football related sentiments. So once again I appreciate all the elders of this forum, who has maintained the objective of this wonderful forum through the years, despite all the personal attacks and distractions. Kudos to you all. 4 Likes |

Zellas:this is not the 90s. Club form should be paramount to our selection process. It's unfair and illogical to pick someone over another just because of place of birth. Football is more technical than physical nowadays everywhere in the world. 1 Like |

Amedino99:Many times I will just read some comments here and just shake my head. We cry that we don't have depth in SE CB & MF. But still refuse to explore other options we have. Just because we always have this mindset that if you are good that you should be playing in d big leagues. But we will turn around to prefer a championship player to a Bundesliga & Liga Portugal players. Hypocrisy everywhere. 6 Likes |

komekn:Omeruo was our best defender enroute winning the nations cup. He didn't put a foot wrong and basically acted as shield to Vincent Enyeama. In 2019,he was also named in the Afcon team of the tournament by whosored and goal dot com. Like it or not, belive it or not, Omeruo has been an incredible and dependeble player for Nigeria from U17 to Super Eagles. It's sad to see such a player being rubbished for whatever agenda. Bringing up his time at Chelsea is very low of you. Was it not the same period Chelsea was renound for being talent killers. Young players like Salah, Debruyn weren't given chances by Mourinho and we're unceremoniously exited by the club. As far as Afcon is concerned, Omeruo still have a role to play if we want to be successful in that competition. 2 Likes |

do4luv14: You know we have different dialects in Uhrobo/ Isoko that creates sometimes different pronunciations and different spellings. For instance we mostly use Oghene but other clans in Uhrobo will use Osanabruwe ( not right spelling) That's just one example. |

Barryseal: Those young players at least played games for the first team. Omeruo did not play one game, that in itself tells you something. He was in the Championship with Middlesbrough for two seasons without a single accolade he was anonymous. He has never been in a top team and spent any decent time in a top League. He has been at best very average or in reality below average. He has been at fault for several goals and poor performances, both in AFCON and the works cup. He has huge stretch of games that has been used to cover mediocrity. The question ā should be how much better would the have been if we had used other CB of theybhsd been given a chance. 1 Like |

comodo: Unless you are talking the top 5/6 teams in the Bundesliga and with regards to the Portuguese league then top 4/5 teams then I absolutely say the top Championship player is better. The Championship is physically intense and much more faster and definitely far superior to any other second tier league in Europe. It's Borrusia D that bought a 16 year old from Birmingham for Ā£25 million. But be specific who are the better player's in the Portuguese and Bundesliga league that we are taking about.lnā |

Omeruo has/is a faithful servant to the SE and no agenda will wash that away. With him we've won AFCON gold and bronze. Qualified for WC twice reaching the second in one of them. Using his club struggles as agenda to down play his immense contributions to the national team will not fly. komekn: 7 Likes 1 Share |

chrisooblog:Make dem bring any super eagles defender wey better pass Omeruo in the last 10 years with eagles statsā¦.na to Dey call him championship failure, mediocre and crap but their overrated players never once convinced us in GWG despite EPL Bla bla blu ratings. Super eagles players performances to them should be based on league rating and go to that league proper the said players are average or below average, some are not getting games Naso dem go Dey hammer Simon Moses anyhow and praising wingers who are bench warmers by giving us fallacies on pure theoretical thinking which never existed in reality. No wonder we Dey suffer for pushing regional and third division keepers as eagles keeper and used eagles to rise but fact, they are still lacking in basic goalkeeping skills and it cost us Afcon and WC 5 Likes 1 Share |

Marjoribanks: Look at what Boniface does to the team, look at Grimaldo, Frimpong, and Writz all having at least seven goals and assist contributions to the team. That's what Boniface does to the team. He makes everyone around him good. That's why he is key for them. He is the reason the team is built this way. even when he is not scoring he is assisting. That quality, my brother is something I don't think Schick has. Boniface is the gel, he makes them click and everyone is contributing. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Marjoribanks: I see say Kog45 tag me to solve kwanta, I said let me track the genesis of the fight, only for me to discover that all these things is because they used "Guy" to address you, and you took offense. Baba, "Guy" is like "Bro", nobody has their date of birth on this platform, so, nobody can tell that they should not be calling you "Guy". We are all peers in this platform, and we address each other with that in mind. There was nothing disrespectful about "Guy", this response of yours is however very disrespectful, and I can tell you said it in anger (Use of exclamation points in writing is to relay anger). You decided to deflect when SuperNerd rightly responded to you in the tone you introduced. You had no right to bring up his father, and someone of the age you project yourself to be, should not be throwing such cheap jabs, especially because NOBODY DISRESPECTED YOU OR WAS CONDESCENDING TOWARDS YOU TO BEGIN WITH. And yes, Emmy was right to infer that you're trying to employ your age in intimidation of forum mates. You are a "Guy" for the purpose of this forum. If you want to be properly addressed Baba, please, go to whichever group chats you belong to, where everyone knows your age, so, nobody will call you, "Guy". Oga Kog45, I hope I have judged this as it should have been judged. The only person that was disrespectful in the course of that interaction was this Baba here. Apologies for how long it took me to wade into the matter. Nobody should feel the need to post a rebuttal btw. 10 Likes |

That is why I said his versatility is an added advantage. I do feel Leverkusen scouts did not actually envisage, Boni will be this good. Their initial thought is for Boni to deputize until Schick returns but his form and all round play has come as a shock even to Alonzo himself. However, Schick still remains a BL legend! I am happy that Boni has someone like Schick pushing him. It will make him a better player. M7even: 4 Likes |

It's quiet shocking! Why can't we like both players? As much as I like Bassey, I have more confidence whenever Omeruo plays in defense. The same Omeruo pocketed Drogba and led us to our third AFCON. Barryseal: |
