'Don't look to anybody to be your role model' but you people will drag 'slay queens and social media baddies' for how they are influencing young, impressionable girls into setting some kind of standards in relationships.

Suddenly it is not important to have visible, upright public figures as beacons of morality and values in politics anymore. Everything is definitely isolated and there are no trickle-down or upward consequences for collective behaviour in the society.

Yawnss.

The double standards here today is absolutely disgusting.
If you can't call one out for hypocrisy, what is then the aim of all we do here in the name of politics?

So why did they get into activism in the first place? Did anybody force them to posture?

Are your comments against Tinubu on here putting food on your table? Why are you creating a false argument when nobody says anybody should make activism a day job? Who said activism is meant to put food on people's tables?

Activism doesn't put food on people's tables, but it demands other things. Consistency for one. You don't chook your head inside and turn around to remove your head when you see it's not beneficial anymore. Okay, you can do that, but people still have a right to call it out—play the ostrich all you want.

Well said.

His positions today is highly awkward.

It's fvcked up to defend the nonsense from Kate.
Her fundraising for APC is an absolute hypocrisy.
She has spent the better part of last year positioning herself as a people's voice. Even castigating other celebrities like seyilaw, Eniola badmus and the rest for attending APC functions. To now do that same thing now is her going against her standards.

It's the equivalent of me suddenly endorsing Tinubu and this evil government. It absolutely makes no sense.

I just Googled the last duty because I was not sure. Once I saw the cover I remembered.

That story where one rich old man who could not get it up got one poor dude set up and arrested so he could knack the guys wife. He still could not get it up and somehow his physically challenged assistant /apprentice /house boy ended up knacking the wife.

Then the old man and the assistant get into a fight over the woman and basically kill each other. It is as this point her husband is freed from jail to come and pick up the pieces. All this during an ongoing war.

I remeber the sons name is oghenovo. The husband's name was mukoro.

Yeah at the very end of the book. So the wife ended up a widow for real. In an area all torn up by war. All shades of sad.

Thanks. What I actually need is USD for an eurobond fund. Abokis here are still quoting 1270. Was thinking I can get USDT on binance since it's cheaper, convert to USD and send to my dom account.

The exact details of the CBN's liabilities are murky.
In JP Morgan's report, total liabilities exceeded $14B.
But that was in reference to EOY 22 numbers.

The true state of our finances is not readily available.
So most analysts go off guesstimates.

The number that's floating around is $10B. Which might be a deliberate understatement. But let's work with that.
The plan is roll over some of it into 24 to 36 months instruments thus giving us more time to come up with the funds.
While they use the $7B to clear the most urgent book liabilities and fund several weeks of direct sales in the NAFEM window.

The open-ended question is how long the stability lasts?
I don't think the administration cares anymore.
If they can secure the $7B and hopefully the $3B AFRIEXIM loan as well.
We'd almost certainly get at least a good quarter of stability out of the intervention which right now sounds like a huge win to them.

The national debt. Interest payments. Revenue shortfall. All of those are problems they'd pawn off to the next administration.
Nothing screams desperation like securitizing $2B p.a. revenue for a $7B loan from a consortium led by a commercial bank in the current high interest rate environment.
I'll like to see the terms they get. Standard Chartered will bend them over a barrel.

But they wouldn't mind. All the top honchos at NLNG, NNPCL, Minister of Finance, and CBN are salivating at what they'd gain from the deal.
The funds will be used up. Then they'd start cooking another billion-dollar deal by this time next year.
In fact, it is in their best interest that this inflow does not solve the FX crisis permanently.

Currently, this country is a hood rat n*ggas are running a train on.
Stop worrying about the aftereffects.
If the jamboree will not favor you and your family, japa!

you can't convert USDT to actual USD for eurobond, USDT only exist on crypto exchanges, If you need USD, you can buy from the issuing house or you source locally, tell the bdc to transfer to your DOM account

And you know another reason why I find the whole "entertainers go chop, so they must accept every gig" logic funny is that it is simply just an expression of a bias, especially conservative bias.

The same people saying Kate Henshaw should be left alone are the same (more or less) people that praise people like Dave Chapelle, who doesn't hide his reservations about the trans movement.

Is Chapelle not an entertainer? Does he not need money to eat? Is he not a hustler? So why is Chapelle mixing politics with his profession?

I mean, by speaking against some liberal ideologies, Dave is actually losing out on money, on some end. He could have been pandering to both left and right people, thereby raking in money on both sides, not standing for anything.

But no, when Dave speaks against "woke" ideologies, everyone hails him.

When a Christian baker also refused to offer his service to a gay couple, people defended it on the premise that he's within his right to do so because his values doesn't align with homosexuality (so he's basically mixing ideals with business).

Anytime a conservative-leaning person affirms their belief in/through their business or art, everybody hails them because they are "rightly" kicking against a 'destructive woke culture.'

But let a liberal person* do the same and you'll start hearing things like "oh, that's senseless. You're burning bridges over your ideologies. You ought to hide your radical beliefs so you can get gigs from the institutions and powers of the society."

Is J.K. Rowling speaking against transgenderism not losing the potential patronage from that group?

Is Chimamanda also not hated by a faction of the LGBT+ because she criticised transgenderism, and therefore lost their support?

Most people over here supported these women because they believe there should be a point where you stand for something, even if it'll make your brand unpopular to some people, but God forbid that we expect same of Kate, and other Nigerian celebrities, by extension.

Even Piers Morgan that is a presenter, let Meghan Markle invite him to MC her birthday party, and he accepts, and see if people wouldn't drag his ass from here to hell.

If Andrew Tate went on a feminist podcast to speak about feminism in a positive light to his followers, will they defend it by saying he's just doing business as a podcaster?

Okay, it might even be business, but it is an hypocritical business and that's the point.

Tate, Morgan, Candace Owens, Uju Anya, Shola Mos-Shogbamimu and many others like them have created a social commentary and public-speaking niche for themselves on different political divides.

You cannot call a person like Candace to come and host a fundraiser for medical transitioning, and she'll tell you "I'm just doing my job."

(*in the Nigerian context, an Obidient might be the liberal person, and an APC/PDP supporter the conservative. This is just for illustration).

How do you explain to the common man on the street that dollar is 1200? You won't blame them for trying to look for quick fixes.

Nigeria is iredeemable, the bulk of the population are poorly educated.

When you're dealing with Africans mostly, some kinds of knowledge are better kept hidden. Because you'd simply be wasting your time due to their low IQ.

I was discussing with some Isese practitioners recently who are well versed in Odu Ifa corpus and told them that Africans mostly have a poor attitude to knowledge and research.

So if one knows 100 things, it's better to share 10 with them. Even that small percentage you share, many still don't understand it due to their mental laziness.

When you interact with the Isese practitioners, you just realize most of them don't know the math and physics underlying the corpus.

If they did, they would have developed programming languages and techs with it.

I don't think they really know why the Odu Ifa corpus was developed in the olden days and tons of feats the ancient people had achieved with it in the past eras.

Many scientists in the West have been seeking unifying theories in Physics, Math (grand unified theories, TOE, and the likes) for tens of years now; even Einstein was working on this problem before his death but he couldn't solve it.

Yet, Yoruba people have Odu Ifa corpus, but they don't even know what it's or its real capabilities.

The Isese practitioners see the corpus as a divine revelation, yet it's not. It was built on certain kinds of math and physics.

And if there are many intelligent people in this part of the world, people would have collaborated and developed the corpus into a big tech.

This isn't a project a single person will say he wants to be doing alone. Even developing the underlying math and physics is quite daunting.

When you finishing that, you'd move into other phases. The math and physics won't take less than 5 years to decode for a single person with exceptional skills in math and physics.

After you finish that, you start the design (tech) aspect. There are many other areas. So, at best, a single person will just lay the foundation for others to build on.

And if Yoruba/Igbo people, who are Ifa/Afa people, don't take up the project, that means it's the whites that'll benefit from it.

If most people in a region don't understand and show interest in some kind of knowledge (their own unrefined diamond and gold), more intelligent people in other parts of the world would.

One just does one's best for posterity's sake.
