Missing previous employment and education section on DS 260 form Hello house. I have asked this question on different platforms and I seem to have different answers which makes me confused further. My DS 260 form (EB2 NIW) is missing my previous employment and education as the principal applicant. My spouse's has this section. While trying to figure things out, I tried putting another answer (homemaker) in the present occupation and the previous section showed which I filled accordingly. I liked back on the present to change it to the right occupation, Pam! *the previous section disappeared again*. I have been on this for the past 1 week and I am not sure if I should submit it like that or not. |

TosinKate: I had exactly the same experience, when I asked around, it also happened to some principal applicants, some of whom never had issues concerning it at the visa interview. I submitted the DS 260 like that. I am DQed, awaiting visa interview. 2 Likes |

Hello guys, I jus got my I-140 approved and I await my priority date to be current. I used Chen immigration law firm and they are very good. My application took less than 4 months to be approved. I have some questions: 1. I will be going for the consular processing since I am not in the USA. 2. Do I need to submit any document to show proof of fund or accommodation? if yes what is the amount for a family of four. 3. Although I am waiting for welcome letter from the NVC can someone share a document for DIY? I don't have 4k dollars to pay lawyers again. I will appreciate if I get answer here or to my email: johndamisa66@gmail.com. THANKS!!! |

Hi @JohnPhysics congratulations! The EB2 NIW does not require that you submit proof of funds for an immigrant visa (IV). Your welcome letter will tell you the required documents you need to submit, which are mainly civil documents. I usually suggest that people read through the embassy website to learn more about documents. I applied for my IV by myself, and I am documentarily qualified. JohnPhysics: 1 Like |

JohnPhysics:You do not need to engage a lawyer for the next step of the immigrant visa process. As mentioned earlier, simply await the welcome letter from the NVC and proceed with the DS260 Application online. In my situation, which I believe is similar to others, I completed the online application and submitted the following documents: a copy of the marriage certificate, a birth certificate (issued by NPC), a photocopy of the passport page, a police clearance certificate (from Nigeria and South Africa), and a document cover sheet. Ensure that these documents are all in color. While you are waiting for the letter, it is recommended that you begin the process of obtaining birth certificates from NPC and police clearance certificates for all the countries in which you have resided for more than 12 months, both for yourself and your spouse. Congratulations! 3 Likes |

If there are individuals who have successfully navigated I-140/Immigrant Visa path to the USA with international degrees, could you kindly share your insights regarding how to establish a life in the United States and get a job? I am particularly interested hearing from those in the academic before relocation to the USA. My PD is 12/12/2022, and I am optimistic about receiving my IL early next year. Your experiences and advice would be greatly appreciated. 3 Likes |

chemashie: Thanks, @Chemashie. May I please ask you some more questions? 1. I've taken the time to read the thread from page 1 to 25, and I noticed a post where someone shared their experience. They mentioned that the Visa Officer (VO) asked if they already had a job, among other things. I believe this question is related to how one plans to support their family upon arrival in the USA. So, I would like to ask, how much should one save up to navigate this requirement? 2. I've spent 1 year in France, and I am currently in Germany. Do I need a police report for both of these countries, in addition to the one from Nigeria? If so, does it have an expiration date? 3. I plan to handle the next stage of the process myself. However, I've heard that someone in the USA needs to pay the fees on your behalf. Is this information accurate? 4. How long will I wait to get the welcome letter from NVC. On my approval, the date is 05.10.2023 and my PD is 27.06.2023. 5. Is there a way I can connect with you more efficiently, such as through email or any of the social media platforms you are active on? I apologize for the length of my questions, but I'll stop here for now and await your response. Thank you. 1 Like |

JohnPhysics:1. In my opinion, it's essential to save enough to support yourself and your family for at least three months. 2. You'll need to obtain police clearance certificates for both France and Nigeria. However, getting police report for Germany will depend on whether you're visiting briefly or for a fellowship for more than 6 months. I spent two months at the University of Cambridge in the UK and didn't need to obtain a UK police certificate, even though I mentioned my visit in my DS260 application. 3. Yes, someone made the payment for me using his US account because a Routing number was required during the payment process. 4. My I-140 petition was approved on April 14, 2023, and I received my welcome letter on May 3, 2023. So, you can expect it to take approximately a month or less. 5. I'll reply to your email with my WhatsApp contact information. 2 Likes |

chemashie: In completely the DS-260 form by your self, in the sign-in page , do you choose petitioner or applicant. My husband is the principal applicant. We used a lawyer for the first stage and got approval. We want to do this stage by our selves. Thanks for your response. |

Annoying aF! same reminder sent sept 1 when IL was sent to DQ septemebr- December DQ guys... Maybe some January/february fellas will get IL this week or sometime in November. When were you DQ'ed? I was told from a reliable source that NVC no longer sends the case status update since July 2023. I am January 2023 dq'ed, and the last time I got the status update was on July 30th. Though it was meant to be received every 60 days, it has been 90 days, and I have not received it. Fingers crossed, though. |

chemashie: Thank you @chemashie . I still have more questions in regards to this ds 260 form. Thanks for your insight on the following 1.They asked where you want the green card mailed, can we use a relative's USA address? 2.They asked if you have been certified by Secretary of labour as skilled or unskilled. Do we answer yes or no. (We got EB2 NIW) 3. They asked, do you have a document to establish that you have been vaccinated according to USA law. Do we answer yes or no ( since we have not taken all vaccines yet). We also do not have any documents. Is there a place to get it in Nigeria? 4. They asked for every address you lived since you were 16 yrs. Must we add include secondary school and university hostel, particularly for our children in school, or is our home address enough. 5. On social media, must we all list every social media or one is enough. Please any of the gurus in the house can help/ respond please. Thank you. |
Re: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by chemashie(m): 1:36pm On Nov 01, 2023 |
Mummytie23:1. Yes, you can use a relative who is permanently residing in the US. 2. The answer here is NO, except you filed for I-140 inside the USA. 3. They asked, do you have a document to establish that you have been vaccinated according to USA law. Select "yes" for this, as vaccination is a prerequisite for the interview. Do we answer yes or no ( since we have not taken all vaccines yet). We also do not have any documents. Is there a place to get it in Nigeria? You will still have to undergo medical examination in Lagos before the interview attendance and collection of visa. Please select "yes" 4. Yes, and please try to complete this page as fast as you can. It took me more than three weeks to fill this page due to the system's automatic logout after 20 or 30 minutes of inactivity. To beat the system from logging me out, I copied all my details on a notepad before transferring them to the online form. Must we add include secondary school and university hostel, particularly for our children in school, or is our home address enough? Yes. I included the locations where I resided during my BSc, MSc, PhD, and even during my postdocs... lol 5. Not all of them. I only provided my social media handles for LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Nairaland, and Telegram. Thank you. 1 Like |
