Is Charles Soludo Still Building A Metro Rail Network For Onitsha? by Kushites: 7:38pm On Oct 29, 2023
I believe there were some encouraging noises about a city-wide metro rail system for Onitsha, in the days following the inauguration of governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state.

I would appreciate an update on the status of this project, please.

Anambra airport was conceived by Mbadinuju to be built at Oba. Peter Obi moved it from Oba to Umueri and secured the land. Obiano built the airport. Government is a Continuum. The rail master plan will be there till the financial status of the state is favourable. We will not rush into reckless borrowing like Osun state that rendered the state insolvent and still abandoned their airport project

So….it’s a question of money?

Tell me something.

How is it that your state governors always have enough money to buy mansions all over the world, and live like kings with fleets of luxurious cars, but never have enough money to build infrastructure?

Why can’t they pay youths to lay down tracks for a railway line, and import a couple cheap trains from China, just to start off with?

What is so hard about that?

Comparing money for mansions to money for city metro shows your mental capacity

Secondly Anambra governors since 2003 have been people who have been very very successful in life now evidence anyone got richer after being governor even

Why start a train that won't be sustainable all train in Nigeria run at a huge loss requires subsidy worth billions to keep running

So you expect a prof of economics to invest billions to a project that would cost billions create less than 1000 jobs yet increase recurrent expenditure by billions? No na We are igbos we don't do that it's below us

The governors in Eastern states are only engaging themselves in council projects and salaries disgusting even the professors can't show any signs of having certificate. Tinubu still shows some signs of education with no certificate.

Peter Obi is taunted as the man with all the solutions to Nigeria’s problems. According to folks like you, Nigeria would have turned to Dubai by now if we had elected him as our president.

He was governor of Anambra state from 2006-2014 and I will ignore your well documented opinion about his administration. So, you’re all knowing Peter Obi signed an MOU in 2010 for the construction of Onitsha monorail. If the monorail is as useless and un-Igbo like as you’ve described, why did your all knowing Peter Obi come up with the idea in the first place? Let’s ignore the fact that he failed woefully to deliver the project.

Let’s start by asking what happens to the Onitsha monorail MOU signed by Saint Peter Obi in 2010. Before we drag Soludo, let’s at least ask questions about how far Peter Obi went with the project.

Lmao you can sigh an MOU then know it's only a feel good project that has no economic impact then abandon it... It's logic which some people can't get

There is no index of governance any governor from your region is better than obi... I dare you name the index

Lmao! The best man for the president is actually the man that goes about signing contracts and MOU only to realize after signing that the project has no economic value and impact.

So, what’s the difference between Peter Obi and those that signed the P&ID contract?

Thank God we missed the Obi bullet. The dude will just sign away the country only to realize the implication afterwards. We don’t need such a buffoon who signs things before realizing the implication as president.

And yes, I dint have time for irrelevant index. That people from all over Anambra Keeps rushing to Lagos for economic survival daily is enough to tell the story.

IBtw, if you want a project to project assessment, we will bring out the projects of a local government in Lagos and compare with your Obi. I won’t commit the sacrilege of comparing Tinubu or any of our former governors with a failure like Peter Obi.

Even almighty Rivers monorail failed. Obi was wise to keep the plan for favorable time in the future

Your comparison is Peter Obi vs Lagos. Not Peter vs Tinubu.

You are shallow. Obi opened the neighbouring villages and they have now merged together into a large urban sprawl. The largest by landmass in Nigeria. As the population grows, it's expected to overtake Lagos from 2040. The rail is a future plan. The governor that time will start the project just like Obiano started airport project conceived decades before him but kept aside for more pressing needs
