Lexusgs430: This is a sad story.... According to the report, he came into the UK as a minor. Doesn't say how young he was but most likely he was brought in by someone and as a child did not have any control over this. The fact that he came in as a minor , placed in foster care and has lived in the UK for 10 years give or take, means he probably doesn't have anything or anyone to go to Nigeria to. Very different scenario to coming in as an adult who could reasonably be expected to reintegrate back into their home country. It doesn't sound like he's committed any crimes so I do hope he's granted asylum on compassionate grounds. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Lexusgs430: 3:09am On Oct 30, 2023 |
Zahra29: I would put on my devil's advocate hat....... It said he is 23 (I would add about 10 years to that)..... Going on the premise, that he is 33 now, assuming he really came in at 23....... - Was he truly a minor...... - What are the conditions, asylum could be granted..... You see why his matter get k leg...... Remember the story of uncle london........ 🤣 |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 3:18am On Oct 30, 2023 |
Lexusgs430: But remember he was placed in foster care which means he would have been assessed by social and health services, he would have attended secondary school and accessed other services that would have been difficult to fake if he was10 years older than his purported age. Maybe not asylum, but I think he qualifies for compassionate leave based on his status as a minor when he was brought into the country, and going through the care system which imposes a duty of care upon the state to a degree. |

Zahra29: Uncle London too was placed in foster care....... 😄 Suella got targets and I doubt she would back down .... I hope he receives what's best (either in Nigeria or the UK)..... Would surely keep an eye on this story...... |

Viruses: You’re being rude and entitled. The person in question said what they said fully innocently I’m sure and you’ve just read the worst possible motives into it with absolutely no basis. You don’t even know if it’s a matter of timing where they planned to settle down and write something extensive later. If you want to know, ask. You didn’t, and you just jumped to insults and attacks. Not sure what has happened to this thread in the past few days but it seems most people have just lost their sense of decorum and people are letting their inner ágberòs out. I guess the mod doing the same is part of what's emboldening people but please try and do better. 17 Likes |

I don't know why you guys decide to use paracetamol on another person's headache. Someone told you is his personal belief to pay tithe and you are questioning him. Religion is a personal belief just as tithing. You are in a society that allows adult and even children to make their own decision but No, you are still stuck with ur Naija mentality of ethnocentrism. If you like go and be questioning your colleague at work about their gender identity, may be you will learn to respect people's opinion. genkins: 4 Likes |

Guys please, I'm in urgent need of an adult/childminder in Edinburgh, particularly around West Lothian/livingstone area to help me mind my kids for 2hrs a day, between 2 and 4 days a week. My wife gets home about 11pm and I have to go to work at 930pm. There is really nothing to do, just an adult at the house between 930 and 11. I'm willing to pay about 11£ per hour. It's very urgent. I resume on Monday the 30th If you posted the above, get in touch as I have someone for you. Chat me here- info.solveabode at gmail dot com 1 Like |

justwise: Look up to you? Lmao tufiakwa. I've never said anything about tithe. You see how you keep bringing that up in irrelevant contexts like a toddler throwing a tantrum and determined to be as loud and obnoxious as possible till it has its way? Anyway, your behaviour does, unfortunately, seem to set the tone for the thread due to your position. I'm sure you won't see that and I'm not really typing this for your benefit - it's for other, hopefully more level-headed people, to calm things down. 12 Likes |

Whatever first fruit means to you... Bible commands that we bring first fruit of harvest...in any case either you do it annually or monthly it is still the same as tithe and God made it so. Having been in the UK, I now understand why tithing was an issue to some Nigerians. However if you personally feel it is a rip off, just take that as your opinion. There are pastors who take advantage of it and get dubious, but tithing was not designed to make pastor richer than members... However some Pastors who have become extremely rich are natural business men who would flourish wherever they work. I might condemn those who sell anointing oil and water but selling books , audios, videos or establishing educational institutions are very justified means of a natural business man be it a pastor or not. People with so much anger about tithing and enriching pastor should also take bold step to sue home office to stop wasting millions of your tax🤣 to fund Bibby Stockholm's maintenance and illegal migrant expenses...take them to court and direct your anger to a proper channel since you have stopped paying Nigerian pastor's, at least UK compulsory own too should monitored and challenged justwise: 2 Likes 1 Share |

GlamMrsO: Why is it a dilemma? that you have 4 months on your visa? You are in the UK legally and there's a pathway to continue to stay legally. Don't let the pressure of skilled worker visa stress you out unnecessarily. I know the concern is about countdown to ILR, but trust me, there's a world of opportunities in this Youkay, and if what I hear about the data job market generally is correct, then I think you're on the right path. There's so much you can do - ILR or not, as long as you're in here legally. As per the "commonly switched to visa", my advice is DON'T DO IT because you're going to be restricted to working primarily for the sponsor and you will need to switch again when you find the role you want. It'll be even more frustrating if you don't enjoy doing it. I would advice you go ahead with your training, start/continue applying for your professional roles and see what happens until February. In my opinion, you are better off switching to your graduate visa in February than actively looking to switch to a care visa now. Trust me, the graduate visa is a gem! It allows you work unrestricted, you can even do multiple jobs and switch as many times as you like until you find your niche. (Employers in my experience even feel more comfortable employing someone on a graduate visa than someone on a skilled visa) Stay hopeful that you will get a professional job soon, in the meantime, keep doing what you've said here, you're on the right track! 12 Likes |

Has anyone been able to return successfully to Nigerian recently with an expired Nigerian Passport? I'm going back in December through Virgin. I was there last December too and could see the banners at the arrival section stating that Nigerians with expired passports are allowed to return to the country. Mine expired last month and i've tried to apply for a replacement but don't yet have the NIN number. I registered for it in Nigeria last year and i collected the slip. Truth be told, i'm sincerely not looking forward to that dreadful journey to the High Commission in London. The thought of that place alone sends shivers down my spine but you've gotta what you gotta do. I've got a British Passport so the return trip shouldn't be an issue. |

Chinlov: Zakat is given in islam to the poor...note..to the poor not the preacher. For you to give Zakat,u have to qualify for it.you would have to be able to take care of yourself, your family members and neighbors before you can give to the poor. Note again..the poor That's why u won't see any imam driving rolce Royce. According to Christ in matt 25 31-46,which of the giving is christlike?zakat or tithe? Answer by yourself. 4 Likes 1 Share |
