If these are real stats, it pretty much proves the point what BluRay and Disstroy are trying to make. A state where there's a 1/10 chance you get to suffer violence, armed robbery or kidnapping is not safe

Let’s not even talk about unreported incidents .

It’s only Rivers state that has had its State house of assembly burnt and a sitting state governor tear gased all within 24 hours . Even the north wey dey experience terrorist attacks don’t have it that bad .

Over 10 years ago the majority leader of the house nearly crank open his colleague’s skull in the hallowed chambers .

Every election we read of serious election violence that leads to loss of lives in the state . Non election period we read of cultists murdering law enforcement agents and kidnappings here and there .

But they are trying to defend all of these and make it seem like the Rivers state they are living in is not the same as the one in the news for the wrong reasons .

Recommend him for when I'm in the city. If he's been your barber for 8 years, it means your trust him and you're comfortable around him.

Imagine if he was a gangster who bunkers oil, has stepped on multiple toes, and is being chased by men-in-boots seeking revenge for his grave sins, he wouldn't be your barber. He'd be a militant screaming our oil and burning down oil barges while everyone breathes in black soot.

See, better a dignified skilled worker like a barber than a criminal. The joke is on you. wink
He knows his craft, you blow things out of proportion, Rivers is very safe

Rivers is not as bad as you paint it here, last week a man went on shooting spree in America Killing about 17 persons on the spot, judging from that incident, does it mean that America as a country is unsafe and all its inhabitants are cultist? Can we also agree that Rivers is safer than America?

Don't waste your time. Even me will not even bother with these arguments again. When people's minds are made up, nothing you say will change it.

Abonnema Wharf was supposed to be the Port Harcourt equivalent of Lagos' Apapa Wharf, and Abonnema as boisterous as Apapa. You know, two cities existing and thriving before Nigeria's independence. Great, right?

Well, that's where it deviates a little. Abonnema is the Mecca of some of the lesser-known dark groups, and the conflicts leave blood and tears in its aftermath. Whatever PHC has been depicted on a crime scale, Abonnema triples that. So much so people in other parts of PH city dread Abonnema.

In Abonnema, you keep your bags packed. Sometimes they get violent with the army or navy and they retaliate meaning you might need to leave town at a moment's notice.
Well, you'd have a harder time finding a young man who hasn't been co-opted into these groups.

Call a friend who knows PH well to tell you what goes down in Abonnema. You don't have to just take my word for it.
Gunshots are heard regularly in Abonnema residential areas weekly and folks there are used to it.

The 'good thing', it's the Abuja of vices - people from all parts of the country united and divided by violent crimes.

No, this is not some remote village island - it's part of Port Harcourt.

PH city is made up of many LGAs:
ONELGA
PHALGA (Port Harcourt LGA)
Obio Akpor LGA
And parts of some other LGAs

Uyo city is made up of many LGAs:
Uyo LGA, and parts of:
Itu LGA
Ibesikpo Asutan LGA
Uruan LGA
Ibiono Ibom LGA
A little of Etinan LGA
And in recent months, a tiny part of Nsit Ibom LGA.

Point is PH city, like most cities, isn't just one LGA.

Your tears would make me keep exposing the violent crimes you whitewash. You can't keep putting people's lives at risk indirectly by underplaying a deadly vice.

The first time I went to abonnema I spent more than five hours on the road. And I was going from rumuola. How can I spend more than 5 hours + on the road going to somewhere in port Harcourt from Rumuola? grin grin

These folks here are overreacting. I go out and come out very late a lot, and nobody has ever blocked my way before.

Yeah, typical. Latch on to some tiny part to muddy the waters in a bid to divert attention. I case you haven't noticed, when I debate, I have singularity of purpose and NEVER deviate from the point I set out to make.

The one point this time is, Rivers has a celebrated culture of gang violence. smiley

Some massive fraud is going on at the I&E window. Just saw this

The market also recorded a turnover of $88.3 million a 66% drop from $259.8 million recorded last Friday. Intra-day highs and lows were N998/$1 and N475/$1 respectively. The intra-day low is rather remarkable, and represents a N523/$1 discount to the closing day rate

So I can buy at 475 and sell at 998 within the same day. Which round-tripping pass this one?

Rivers State has an estimated population of 7m people. So theflint1 is saying 700,000 people experience acts of violence, robbery, kidnapping in one year. And people are still living here?
You mentioned 90%, I did not. Even if we decide to make it 95%, the average of both extremes, it's still ugly stats. Take note, I'm not giving my personal opinion on the issue, working with what you said.

Rivers has a general air of thuggery, cultism and related incidents. For most Rivers indigenes, they believe it makes them street and have adapted to it, but to the rest of us looking in from outside, we're well aware that living in a perpetual state of "alarm" is no way to live.

More than 90 is vague. It could be any number from 90.1 to 99.9...even if we choose to work with mean, it's horrible stats and would make it one of the most unsafe places to live in Nigeria.
